“Stayed here for one night in late November in one of their cosy Wildhives, it is a lovely escape. The room was beautifully rustic and comfortable, a touch chilly on a crisp Derbyshire evening, but the blankets were plush and it added to that authentic outdoor vibe. Location is a total winner: 5 minutes’ walk to the Ashbourne end of the Tissington Trail. We strolled up to Tissington village. Next time we’ll definitely hire one of their bikes or e-bikes (they have plenty available on site) and ride the full 13-mile trail. The food… I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s some of the best I’ve ever had anywhere. Dinner was outstanding: perfectly seared scallops to start, followed by calf’s liver cooked pink and silky with incredible depth of flavour, finished with a cracking local cheeseboard and a glass of port by the fire. Breakfast the next morning was just as good – proper quality ingredients, everything cooked spot-on. And the cherry on top: we booked a 60-minute massage in the little spa on Sunday morning before checkout. Absolute bliss. My therapist was brilliant, worked out every knot after knot, and we both floated out completely relaxed. The perfect full-stop to the stay. Peaceful, beautiful, friendly staff, incredible food and that spa treatment sent us home properly recharged. If you’re anywhere near the Peak District, do yourself a favour and book Wildhive. You won’t regret it.”

“A Fantastic Dining Experience at The Queen’s Head We had a wonderful evening at The Queen’s Head. The pork tomahawk and sirloin steak were both cooked to perfection—tender, juicy, and packed with flavour. Paired with a lovely bottle of red wine, the meal was truly memorable. The service was friendly and attentive throughout, making us feel very welcome. Highly recommend for anyone looking for quality food and a warm atmosphere!”

“The Boot is half walk to meet my mom, and we’ll 100% be back. Fabulous location just off the A38, and plenty of parking. The food was sublime and a wine list to generously accompany the dishes. A running theme with all my reviews is that I like a nice wine list and the Boot offers exactly that. The food was so fresh and full of flavour, beautifully presented. A real Gastro Pub that welcomes dogs which is important for us as a family of dog owners, who enjoy the finer things. Thank you to the wonderful Heidi who look after us, you made mom’s birthday experience thorough enjoyable. We’ll be back!”

“great campaign site. Well maintained and friendly staff. We were campaigning in front of the lake with electric hookup. This was our second time camping here. And we have booked again for next year at the same pitch. The amenities are great and all ways cleaner. A nice little shop as well. Very dog friendly. We can't wait for next year already.”

“Bailey, my dalmatian, has stayed at Conifer Kennels twice now for 10 days each time. He's come home clean, happy and obviously very well looked after. The second time he stayed he couldn't wait to get in there - the proof is in the pudding! Lovely owners, very accommodating especially when I needed to extend Bailey's stay. “I have used FM for many years and are always amazed at the care they receive. Last October Ruby Red Fox Labrador developed a lump and Hazel drove her to her vets in Burton and paid the bill until we could transfer funds. This April Ruby jarred a joint the day before we went on holiday. FM administered our metacam and texted me a few days later to say they thought she would be Ok without and both girls were happy and well. Priceless could stop worrying. Picked them up happy. Cannot recommend them highly enough. They care for the dogs as if they were their own loved ones”

“Had my wedding here on 31.10.25. I could not have asked for anything more, from the whole set up meeting process and the team on the day/ night. They were so nice. The food was amazing, service even more so. Anything you needed/ was unsure of they were there to help the whole time. I couldn't have asked for a better place and vibe for the whole day. Some clumsy people dropped things and there were already on the way as we went to get them for clean ups. Not a single thing I can fault. These people and this venue is amazing!”

“We contacted Bev about a puppy she had for sale after seeing her advert online and reading the reviews on here. We got a beautiful little black boy, he has obviously been well loved and is just a bundle of joy. We saw his mother and half sister aswell as a couple of other dogs and puppies, they were all in brilliant condition and super friendly. I have a disabled child and a dog nervous child, when visiting Bev took this into consideration and was brilliant with the children. When talking about the dogs she comes alive, you can hear and see the passion she has for everything she does when she speaks. We were sent away with vets records and KC registration alongside his genealogy certificate, some food and a lovely bit of fleece for comfort bedding. Also importantly she had some fab ideas and help for intiating training to settle in to his new home with the type of children I have. We put them straight into place and (touch wood) no accidents or mishaps yet and my older boy is far less nervous already. She also makes it very clear that should you require any future help contact her straight away and she will help you. I read some quite cruel things people had put, but like everything I wanted to trust my own judgement and I am glad I did. Bev is lovely and sincere, having spoken and met more than once I can happily attest that she is a lovely person and in my experience nothing like she has been portrayed by some. “Our boy stayed herefor a few days in March, his first time away from us, and I don't think he wanted to come home! The staff are friendly and obviously take great care of the dogs. We received a few pictures of him playing the day after we dropped him off even without asking, and every time we messaged asking how he was they always responded in good time. I will be more than happy to book here again next time we go away and know he's being well looked after”

“Lovely Lodge in a great location with a fantastic host! Beach Lodge is super convenient for Derby, Burton, Nottingham and Alton-Towers but also quiet with great facilities onsite, pubs, restaurants and shops are within walking distance, and it feels like being somewhere on the coast rather than in the midlands. The lodge itself is well setup with a good kitchen, large rooms and nice furniture. Rob, the owner, is super attentive and provided a really nice check-in experience. Will definitely be back.”

“My dog got transferred here from another boarding kennels a few weeks ago so i booked my dog here again. The staff do a fantastic job keeping the kennels clean and her bed and take her for walks. I just know using crowfoot she is kept safe, clean and looked after. A big thankyou to all the staff”

“We've checked our dogs in here several times. This time three rather than two and they were very accommodating. Our dogs are always happy to go in and we feel they are well looked after during their stay. Updates are available if requested if you are more nervous but you have no need to be. The grounds are beautiful and there is plenty of space for them to get some exercise. Would recommend to anyone.”

“I’ve completed two long weekends worth of training at Shining Cliff and have been based at the hostel for both. A decent walk into the incredible woods, this lovely little hostel gives you everything you need to move out into the wild just enough to immerse yourself in nature. Kate looks after the hostel and a lot of the woodland facilities. There is so much love and care taken with the management and encounters with Kate are always great. Can’t wait to go back soon!”

“My son and I really enjoy staying here. This our second visit and both stays have been excellent. Paul and Rachel are a lovely couple who go out of their way to make everything as we like it. We have stayed in both rooms which are clean and welcoming with lovely decor throughout. The breakfast is delicious and plentiful. Coming from Scotland we know a great breakfast when we see it. The area is a great base for getting around and it is very quiet with a lovely outlook. We have stayed in many B&B/guesthouse up and down the country and this is by far our favourite thanks to the lovely owners and the unbeatable value for money. We will be back again soon we hope.
