“I stayed at the Fairway Hotel & Restaurant for four nights whilst on a course at a nearby training centre. Staff - All amazing. Mike (Manager) was awaiting my (late) arrival at 11pm, very a very professional and pleasant young man. Shirley saw to my breakfast every day, and remembered what I would have (soon as she seen me she popped the coffee machine on for my brew), and her breakfasts were delicious! Worth a special mention is that her Tattie Scones were prepared perfectly! Marty looked after my evening meals, and I enjoyed her chat and banter. Often coming over to check if I wanted "another prosecco". :) All three are a credit to the Fairway, and an asset to the hospitality industry. Room - The (family) room was okay, double bed and a single bed. The room was a little tired but clean and if you're just wanting a place to sleep it does the job. There's tea/coffee facilities in the room on a side unit, that can be doubled as a small desk but you've to sit on the bed to use. A lick of paint, some new sockets and mattresses and a small desk would make it an ideal room if you were working away. If I was down with family, it would of been fine, but would benefit from a little refresh. Food - The restaurant was excellent. I normally go for a burger if eating out, but I had Shirley had mentioned the steak pie on my first morning, so I thought I'd give it a bash. Delicious is an understatement. I had the burger the next night, before going for the steak pie again on night three. Haggis Bon Bons were my starter every night as they were also amazing. I'm not sure who the chef is, but they are a master in the kitchen. I have no doubt, if I'm ever in Bathgate, or the surrounding area, the Fairway is the only place I would go for food!”

“Booked for lunchtime on a Sunday for an overdue catch up with friends. 9 of us all different meals and one fussy eater and everything came out quickly and together, generous portions tasted great and staff were happy to help with orders Had placed tables together for us all to be able to all sit together comfortably. “The Merlin was the perfect place to unwind after a day of sightseeing. The atmosphere was lively, the drinks were great, and the outdoor seating was a huge plus. Definitely recommend it for a relaxed evening out!”

“Would highly recommend for new residents and immigrants to Wester Hailes to visit and mingle with neighbours at this friendly local pub with cheap Scottish pints. Seems to be the only fun place around open on the weekends. Am new to the area but immediately felt the sense of community going on here. They also do bingo and live music nights”

“I love the music well some of it. I always go there really early like on Saturday just past I went there for 6:30pm thinking that the bouncers were there to let me in. Regardless if the bouncers were there or not I'd still be allowed in cause I'm 27. But love grand central nightclub. I go there once a week on a Saturday for myself regardless if I have no money or not.”

“Staying at the Premier Inn, I stopped here for a drink every night bar one, and had a meal here too. I like it. The bar closes very, very early, but they simply don't have enough customers to justify keeping the place open. Staff are very friendly, food was good, but take ID or you won't get alcohol, even if you are having a meal. My niece is 27 and my nephew 24, both were refused service.”

The only downside was a quite long list of things that were out of stock. Having said that, it didn't affect us first choices we're available. Curry and Scampi. Right next door to the Premierinn. Good job too as it was typical Scottish weather, ie torrential rain !”

“The Spey Lounge, Where do I begin... A pub of untold Character, unfiltered spirit and a place that oozes legacy from first Glance to the last drop of your pint. I am fortunate enough to overlook this fine establishment.. No.. Bohemian institute.. would be better words. Drawing in crowds from far and wide ... but mainly locals. The wind carries the whispers and chants from the 24/7 Karaoke machine... as Legend goes it has yet to be turned off since its purchase in the late 90's with Disco light machine in tow. Depending on your fortune, if the planets align just right you may witness a spectacle of nature. Survival. Man vs Man, the ultimate duel. The nightly mating rituals begin from midnight into the early hours of the morning requiring the males to display dominance in any way possible. From who can hold the most swally to a barbaric fist fight. A true glimpse into the mindset of a Spey-Walker.”

“Great place to eat and drink something! Sweet portions of scons, and more! All surrounded by the botanic garden makes this place a nice place to be. Feeling relax with the nature! Located in the heart of the botanic garden you will find this place, nice terrace but inside is so cool as well. Downstairs there is a nice shop and part of the museum with expos!”

Despite the crowd and noise, the quality is consistent with what you expect from a Wetherspoon. The food is good, the drinks are well priced, and it’s a comfortable place to spend some time while waiting for your flight. If you want to enjoy a meal or a drink at a fair price inside the airport, I would definitely recommend stopping here. Friendly stuff too”
