“Go here before and after matches at Tynecastle and there is always a great atmosphere and quick service. Membership gets you a discount at the bar. Has TVs, a big screen and a jukebox. Great staff.”

“This is a wonderful place with a lovely owner and the people from the village. I had an honour to spend an evening in the pub with the locals, and it was my best evening during the whole schottland trip. I would never think it can be! I have never experienced sich a friendly and open atmosphere! I will love to come again. Thank you, Dave, Alan, Claire, and all other guys at that eve!”

“A pretty location with some great offerings in terms of food, the Haggis Bon Bon, Seabass and Haddock were all excellent. Some might object to the veggies not being cooked through, but I like'em with a little bite to them. The desert (apple crumble) was also quite tasty.”

“Fabulous location central old Edinburgh, by Castle Very safe and friendly Fantastic value for money Great food evening, basic but good, cold self serve breakfast. Lockers, USB charging sockets and reading light for each bed. Lockers on reception for after check-out. Lots showers and toilets. Female only, male only and mixed. All with cubicles with locks. Warm room and could open window. Very groovy bar/cafe/ restaurant area. Great music playing and fun friendly atmosphere. Very safe, reception manned 24/7 Can hire towels cheaply Only downside was that the mattress was a bit basic and uncomfortable on bunk bed, but bedding was nice and kept clean.”

“Really fun, busy but not too noisy, decorations were really good and didn't come across as just a tourist spot, I regret not buying myself a t-shirt. I would recommend booking a table as it's very popular. The food was pretty decent, nice pizza and decent value.”

“A GREAT GO-TO. Pret is always a reliable place to go. The food and drinks are of a consistently high standard and the staff genuinely friendly and helpful. We had hot food namely a falafel & halloumi wrap and tuna melt toastie. Both were terrific. Large americanos and spelt cookie chasers and we were sorted. Continually good. We'll keep going back.”

“Stayed here when in Edinburgh and CAN NOT FAULT THEM. They are so friendly And welcoming, the parking is on site and so easy. The room is beautifully decorated, Wonderfully spacious and spotless. Then down stairs is a restaurant where you can get a delicious meal for a very reasonable price. Good drinks and cocktails. Already planning my next stay here. Also for those going into town the bus stop is 2 shops down and goes straight into town. So convenient.”

“My mother and I had a fantastic two night stay at The Inn on the Mile. We booked a twin room and were pleased with the spacious room, comfortable beds, and separate toilet & shower rooms. The room was quiet and the restaurant downstairs had good food. We ordered dinner one night and breakfast both mornings. They have a brekkie menu but you can also order ala cart. One thing to note - there is no lift to access the rooms. If you’re not good with stairs, request a lower floor. We were on the top floor (78 stairs up) - not a problem for us but just to be aware. The staff is super friendly and will help with bags. Overall, the location was the perfect place to explore Edinburgh. We will happily stay here again next time we’re in Edinburgh.”

“Delicious food!:) first time in Scotland and honestly the small plates of the Scottish egg and haggis were my first bites of the food here. Really grateful this is where I wandered into. Attentive and kind staff as well as a warm atmosphere.”

“Afternoon tea for four. One was gluten free (allergies). We made use of the Wowcher offer to try this out and really were not disappointed. For those in the know, coeliacs is not the easiest of food to get right but the chef at the Braid Hills Hotel completely smashed it! My daughter was delighted with the quality of the food that she was served, as were we all. My son-in-law raved about the haggis bites, which was good because he was able to eat mine (haggis, yuck, lol but it's just not for everyone). The smoked salmon pate was, however, delicious. Now lets get down to the sweet treats. Wow! Again, my daughter was so pleased with the home made scone, scones are notorious at the best of times, but take the gluten out and you will struggle to get them as light as these were! All of the food was truly lovely. Food wise I would put it up there with some of the best in Edinburgh, however the dining room was maybe not up there. That said, it was very far from being bad, I would say that it was simply average. Please remember though, the cost of this, even without a Wowcher deal, was so much lower than "the best in Edinburgh" so for the food to match that standard what's not to like. All I am saying is that if you are looking for swanky, this is not the place, also, if you are looking for a greasy spoon this is not the place. If you are, however, looking for a place that is warm and welcoming, you have found your little piece of heaven. Service though, wow, we had an Asian waiter, was he from India? certainly somewhere around there, I only say because I did not get his name and would really love for management to know what an absolute gem he was. So warm and welcoming and extremely attentive from the minute we arrived until we left. Oh,and, not on the menu for the afternoon tea was some red lentil soup that the chef sent out with compliments to us, we all agreed we would have been extremely happy to order that had we been dining there, maybe next time. Yes, next time, there most certainly will be a next time.”

The city is picturesque but the service and interaction I experienced here left an indelible impression on me. The bar attendant Jamie G was a perfect host. He made my birthday event something I will always remember. Great interaction with positive commentary around the interests and beauty of the city ensuring myself and party guests were catered for beyond expectation. Remarkable care and attention to ensure a memorable moment in time seemed to be his priority. He nailed it. Thank you Jamie”

“Had a wonderful Sunday Roast for Lunch, love the Roasted Lamb Leg and Turkey. Crispy pork crackling skin with my beef gravy. Had a plenty side dish of Toasties, Mashed, Mac n Cheese, Cauliflower Cheese, and of course my Crispy Yorki.. Love the atmosphere of this restaurant, it always feels like eating at home. Casual Dining service and a decent price for a delicious meal.”

“This is a nice restaurant right on the Grassmarket. The service is helpful and friendly. The Steak & Ale Pie was so savory. All the other dishes were tasty as well! For a fun piece of history, don't miss the Door of the Condemned Cell, just at the top of the stairs in the back!”
