“Me and my two friends came here at the end of our "Soccer Saturday challenge" We weren't disappointed, the staff were amazing, the vibes were brilliant and Solar behind the bar was an absolute star. I don't visit Nottingham often but I'll be certain to be back, this place caters for everyone and no-one is exempt. A fantastic venue. Thank you for a brilliant Saturday night”

“The food is delicious. It's a gastropub which means that the food is not the classic pub food but food of high quality. The cheap version of a fine dining cuisine and service. The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is warm and the menu is simple and clear. The starters is something that you should definitely try, it is the best thing on the menu. My favourites are the following: sesame halloumi ( I could have that every single day, the honey drizzle goes so well with the sesame coated halloumi), the crayfish bisque ( a delicious luxury served in a unique way) and last but not least the arancini (delicious,delicious,delicious). The Tailors Arms has its own free parking but there is a bus stop 30 seconds away and a tram stop 2 minutes away. Wilford is a very quiet area however the Taylor's Arms is on the main road, next to the co-operative supermarket.”

“Friday night dinner here with friends. Great atmosphere. Our server, Liv, was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a minor issue which she resolved quickly and satisfactorily. She’s an absolute credit to the pub. Clare also came over and was brilliant. Fab food, great service. Highly recommend.”

“10outof10 from start to finish We went for the tasting menu which was just perfect Every dish was so delicious and well presented from the sourdough bread (the marmite butter was divine) to finish off with the waygu steak but the chicken pate was something extra.. by far the best dish I had in my life!!! Big shout out to Chris which looked after us so well and make us feel so comfortable and btw the wine he recommended us was spot on.. At the end I would like to thank chef Laurence and his team for such of lovely experience By far best meal ever !! THANKS”

“Absolutely fantastic evening spent with my friends at The Commercial tonight. Great selection of drinks, wonderful staff, brilliant atmosphere and above all the food was outstanding! I had the lamb shank which was cooked to perfection, really tender meat, beautiful minted gravy along with the smoothest mash potato ever it was all absolutely delicious! The portion size was very generous so great value for money. Given the place was packed our waiting time was only 25 minutes. We will definetly be visiting again we all cleaned our plates! Thank you to all the staff for making our evening so enjoyable.”

“The vibes in here were immaculate. They had someone playing the sax and drums aswell as a DJ. The drinks tasted amazing and there was such a good range of alcohol. Prices were decent and the staff were super friendly. Had an amazing time !”

“Despite being really busy they managed to seat us at a comfortable table. They advised was going to be 30 mins which we were happy at, and it was pretty much bang on 30 mins when it arrived and it was well worth the wait. The staff were very pleasant and food was spot on. “What a great old school village pub this is! If you want really (and I mean this most sincerely folks) well kept, perfect cask beers then this is the place! I love real ales and was spoiled for choice with 4 cracking beers. As it was around lunch time on a Sunday I could see some lovely looking plates of food being served. My wife and I both commented that we will pop back soon and partake of the munchies, so will let you know how we got on. The locals and staff were great and enjoyed a chat and also met some nice well behaved dawgs too. The pub has camping on site apparently and what a lovely location that would be here in lovely rural surroundings. We will be back soon and pull in some pub grub as well!”

“16th October 2024, we visited the Old Black Horse, and it was the Wednesday Night Pie night. We had a really good night. The price was fantastic. You can also order off the normal menu. The pies are first-rate and as good as any I have tasted before. The staff are really nice being professional and very friendly at the same time. We have been a number of times and had the Carvary. This is one of the tastest I have tasted, and the price is resealable.”

“Great food which doesn’t comprise on quality but is well priced, good selection of drinks and nice decor with booths and regular seating area. Has a sports bar vibe with sky TV and a good amount of TVs but without it being overbearing if you’re not there for the TV. Cocktails are a good selection and well priced. Free parking on non match days.”

“Classic pub almost unchanged since I used to visit with my Dad back in the late ‘70s. Now the brewery tap for the adjoining Nottingham Brewery and has a great range of their beers always in top condition. Friendly locals, great staff and decent pub snacks too. A reminder of what St Peter’s Street was like before it became student land. Anyone serious about beer and an authentic pub atmosphere needs to make the effort to visit. Highly recommended.”

“Excellent food at a very reasonable price. Adam the new landlord was very welcoming. The pub has also had a very tasteful makeover since coming under new management to bring it's decor up to date which has enhanced the atmosphere too. All in all the perfect, family friendly country pub.”

“Great food. Had a lovely lunch from the set menu. Very reasonably priced and main and desert were spot on. Had a latte and a soft drink as well, all nice. Don't know about alcohol prices but well worth a visit for lunch. Just a short update. Unfortunately the current management team are having to give up this pub in August 2025 due to new government budget pressures and family illness. Such a shame. Hope they can get somewhere else soon and, if not, wish them all the best for the future”

Ziggy served me and he clearly takes pride in his work, and it shows in the attention to detail and quality of the food they create. From the perfectly cooked eggs to the crispy bacon and delicious sausages every bite was a true delight. But it wasn't just the food that made this breakfast special - Ziggy's warm and welcoming personality added an extra touch of charm to the experience. They clearly love what they do, and it shows in the way they interact with customers. Overall, I would highly recommend Lounge bar to anyone looking for a top-notch meal and a friendly atmosphere. Five stars all around - thanks for the amazing experience!”

“Brilliant selection of ales and I did notice a wide range of gins too. Food is also really good and all locally sourced; nice touch. It's really nice to see how they've turned the place into having a proper local feel to it. Can't fault it at all. They even serve dog beer for our four legged friends. They also accept CAMRA cards too so the discounts offered are little but appreciated.”

“If you're wondering how good the Earl of Chesterfield is under new ownership you have no need to worry - it's fantastic! We've just had an absolutely wonderful meal - the food was beautiful and the staff were brilliant. The manager (I think his name is Joe) is superb!”

“Great little pub in a quaint village, with a decent garden and a bit of life to it. Dad’s choir gang meet up there after practice sometimes and they’re relatively tolerant of their occasional singing! Pool table is pretty cheap and the pints are well poured.”
