“We had some mezze board which was okay and lamb as the main and it was delicious (although portions were not big) my friend had carbonara and said it was delicious. They are serving Hawkstone lager there with was very good. The cocktails have been delicious . We sat in the pod so the atmosphere was lovely. The garden goes straight out onto the pathway to river”

“Me and the wife had a great meal here, it really is a meat lovers paradise with large portions. The food takes a while as it's cooked fresh, but it's worth it. Had a great Roumanian brandy too. Very friendly staff who got me a upright chair and checking we were enjoying our food.”

The gents toilets were by far the nicest I've seen in any pub - clean, smelt fresh, all facilities functional, and nicely decorated. Yes - a well kept and decorated men's pub loo!! Unheard of!”

“Great pub and brilliant staff. Had the best night and the bonus of a quiz. Ok we came 2nd last but who cares when your having fun. Manager was super helpful when there was an error on our booking, which she resolved. Our waitress was a delight and was always smiling. Great pub, great staff, great food. “This is one of the best gastropubs I have visited this year. The staff (Hubert especislly) were excellent, the food (roast lamb and roast dry-aged beef) was faultless and extremely filling! The atmosphere is very pleasant and the riverside values are delightful. Would highly recommend!”

“Proper quality pub food, the gentlemen Jacob was genuinely on point and was egar to help with any questions, this is the fort pub I've been to in a while that actually caters for their customers, providing genuine customer support and a top grade customer service I recently moved into tadley and now this.. will and forever be my local boozer for food, drink and of course sports on the telly. “We ordered our food from Simple Thai (in Thatcham), after recommendations from friends and weren’t disappointed! Front of house was very friendly and welcoming and the food was outstanding and delicious. Ordering online was easy, with different options to suit our tastes. Our food was cooked to perfection and we’ll certainly be recommending Simple Thai to others and using them on many more occasions. “Best Chinese takeaway I had in Reading. The food I had was amazing. Crispy chilli beef stays still crispy the next day. Beef Chow mein was delicious. I normally collect my food , so my order is usually ready within 10 minutes and the staff is amazing, helpful and friendly. It is not a restaurant, it is a takeaway, so I can't say much about the atmosphere. But I can see the kitchen from the pay counter. It looks very clean.”

“Me and my girlfriend decided we would try out the food in this fine establishment. We bought a drink at the bar then was taken to our seats to order food. It happened to be steak night and our waiter (Luke) was absolutely amazing, with good old British banter but also very professional. I always get a Rib/eye steak, but like recommended something else by like and I was not disappointed at all. My other half got fish and chips which was cooked to perfection, and oh my god the beef dripping chips are to die for! We will 100% be back, and give Luke a raise because he deserves one!!”

“A huge thank you to the team at Reading Pizza Express. My mom visited the restaurant last Friday while she was in town for a quick lunch. She was visiting the country for a week and doesn’t speak the language, so when her card unexpectedly stopped working and she realised she didn’t have enough cash, she became quite stressed. The staff were incredibly kind — they reassured her, offered to reduce the cost of her meal, and even took the time to contact me so we could sort things out together. They truly went above and beyond to make her feel comfortable and supported. When we returned the next day to pay the remaining balance, they refused to take it, insisting that everything had already been taken care of. Their compassion, generosity, and genuine human kindness made a world of difference. Thank you for showing such great character — we deeply appreciate it.”
