“This is not a pub we visit often but found ourselves here on the off chance. The ladies behind the bar were really great, they found us a seat, cleaned table and recommended food. Gammon was delicious, best pub food my partner has had in a long time. Fish and chips was perfectly cooked and very tasty. Highly recommend giving this great pub a try. We will return!”

“Lovely place with a good atmosphere and selection of ales and the usual drinks. The staff are really friendly and the service is great. A simple menu with good variety, well prepared and quick. The gents toilets were by far the nicest I've seen in any pub - clean, smelt fresh, all facilities functional, and nicely decorated. Yes - a well kept and decorated men's pub loo!! Unheard of!”

“I remember drinking here when this was a pub 20 years ago, but hadn't been back since. I'm so glad its still open, and they delivered an excellent fusion of pub classic fare with an extensive Indian menu. I ate chicken pathia with pilau rice and peshwari Naan, my party also ate fish and chips, salmon cakes and chx and lamb Pasadena. The pizza was a bit over-cheesed, but generally food was excellent and decent portions. Service as also great and we just really enjoyed our meal out!”

“Wow, what an amazing pub. I came here on a Sunday for a roast and a pizza for my friend. The staff are so friendly and the pub is large with loads of seating. There's a great menu, which includes a roast served every day of the week. The roast was delicious with loads of perfectly cooked veg and roast potatoes to die for! Pizza was also delicious and tasted homemade. The prices are brilliant, especially considering the quality of the food.”

“Went to watch the six nations rugby with friends. It’s been years since I’ve visited this pub. Have to say , I was hugely impressed. It was very busy but had a really nice buzz and atmosphere. Especially good was the service. Never had to wait more than 30 secs to get served. Very friendly and efficient staff. Had a good conversation with the owner (that also has the Victoria pub in Tilehurst) who said the pub is being refurbed soon. Look forward to visiting again”

The menu is very interesting, with Spanish tapas and fresh paella, as well as high quality wood fired pizzas and of course all the pub classics. The garden out the back is absolutely darling and catches the afternoon sun perfectly.”

We had the salmon and the pie of the day for our mains which were both enormous portions which we really appreciated. Very well cooked and seasoned. Shared the chocolate torte for dessert as we were stuffed after the generous portions which was also great quality. Service was timely and polite despite it being very busy. Strong recommendation.”
