“Visited on a Saturday around midday, not very busy, ordered on the machine, only waited a few minutes for our food to be ready. The food was hot and tasty. The diner was spotlessly clean and the staff were polite and helpful. Good experience and I would recommend and return again.”

“Friendly and attentive staff, amazing tasting food and not hard to get to. Would highly recommend. We ordered: Starters - Tzakziki, Hummus (both come with traditional Iranian bread) & Dolmeh Mains - Chenjeh (with skin on fries to share) & Spring Chicken (with Zeresk Polo Rice to share) Recommend saving some of the dips from the starter to enjoy with your mains! We went just after Sheffield Wednesday finished their game (it is next to Hillsborough Stadium), but found no issue with transport as it is close to the tram stop. Overall, a great experience!”

“The portions were big and food was really tasty with excellent quality, but inside there was a bit cold, they have electric heaters, but it isn't enough to feel warm, so I think it's better to go in summer time and sit outside.”

“Ate at the Alder Tree tonight for the first time, and what a great meal. Had the nachos to share for starter, this was plenty, then the steak with scampi and the mixed grill and wine, plus a couple of drinks to start with all for under £50.00. Beautiful meal well served, so couldn't fault. Will definitely be regulars in the future. Well done all the staff, you deserve it.”

The whole experience was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. ​The restaurant itself is incredibly cosy, and the entire team was just amazing and attentive. A huge shoutout to Joss, who was absolutely brilliant! Due to a last-minute business trip to Sheffield, we needed a table, and he went above and beyond to fit us in and was so helpful in explaining the menu. ​The food quality truly blew me away. Everything tasted superb, proving the dedication to using fantastic quality local produce. The presentation of every dish was top-notch—real eye candy! ​If you're looking for an unforgettable meal with incredible service and a warm atmosphere, you have to try The Garrison. ​We were absolutely delighted and we'll definitely be back soon! “I went there for Sunday lunch with my family. I’ll cut to the chase - book it and go, if there’s actually any space left. The value is unbelievable for the quality of food. This would cost at least double in London and at least 50% more in a neighbouring city. What comes out of that small kitchen is impressive. A deft touch, precise cooking and extremely well judged seasoning. Support this restaurant. If you live in Newark then you have to go. If you live within an hours drive you should absolutely go. If you’re driving up the A1, you need to pop in. I’ve been eating all over the world this year (and previous ones), and this gem was on my doorstep all along.”

“Had a fantastic afternoon tea yesterday. We had a disabled lady with us, so requested a table downstairs which we were given. In our group of 8 we have 2 vegetarians and 2 people that are gluten free and all were catered for. Our drinks orders were taken promptly and they kept coming. The food came out very quickly and everything was beautiful. We were all grateful for boxes to take our leftovers home. I have eaten here many times and the food never disappoints! “This was a recommendation from a friend and it was worth the hour and a half drive! The story I was told was that the chef was a Michelin star chef working in London, who was sick of the rat race and relocated to Matlock in Derbyshire. My partner and I opted for the 7 course taster menu and what a sensation that was. EVERY dish was an explosion in the mouth of complimentary flavours and textures. With the appetisers, the sour dough bread and the mous bouches , it turned out to be almost 10 courses. Just look at the photos! Unbelievable! The location is beautiful too. The outside terrace overlooks the river and the sounds of the water creates at truly romantic setting. The staff were excellent too and I’m surprised that Stones doesn’t already have a Michelin star! Out of this world and I would recommend everyone that likes food to try it! @ £80 per person, it is an absolute bargain. For food like this you would pay double that in London!”

However I did love the cinnamon pineapple. All the staff were really polite and friendly. I will definitely be coming back!”

“I booked a solo dining experience on the kitchen bench at the end of August. This was my first foray into fine dining and I was not disappointed. From the moment I was greeted at the door, I was made to feel incredibly welcome. The taster menu and whole kitchen bench experience was just wonderful. It was more relaxed than I was expecting which suited me perfectly! The food was exceptional - I was presented with a wide range of dishes which gave me the opportunity to try things that I hadn't before and I enjoyed every moment. Whilst the food itself was wonderful, it was the restaurant and kitchen staff that really took my visit to another level. Everyone was very warm and friendly, not to mention attentive. I was looked after incredibly well, especially by John's team in the kitchen. Thank you for such a fantastic experience and I definitely plan to return.”

“I don’t often leave reviews but was really impressed with my dinner at Rosmarino recently! The food was so good and I felt like there were lots of options in the menu I liked the look of. We got the bruschetta and arancini starters - both so nicely done and very yummy. Both enjoyed our pasta choices too, and with one alcoholic drink each our bill was so reasonable. Lovely little restaurant would definitely recommend!”

“There is now a lovely area to sit before your meal where you can enjoy a tasty glass of wine, cocktail or beer. The menu has many small plates to choose from. We had calamari, sardines and pumpkin tortellini. Before trying their larger plates of orechiette pasta and the chicken terrine. Everything had great flavour and served quickly. Will definitely be back again to try even more of the menu!!”
