“Review added as someone who was wandering the park, not staying here The views from the grounds around the tower are fantastic. Three cannons pointing out over the derwent valley, with views of Edensor Church in the distance, and various parts of the Peak District. Definitely makes for a unique photo and on a blue sky day in autumn, must be wonderful to see (i went in early october, so the colours are only just starting to change For anyone thinking about staying here. The sign says it’s private, but I imagine this tower is photo’d dozens of times a day, and tourists will be yards from your door”

“We stopped for dinner at The Bull last night with my elderly and terminally ill greyhound Howard. I told the waitress about Howard and asked if they could bring us a plain sausage for him, fully expecting to pay for this. He loved the sausage. We thoroughly enjoyed our food and the pub quiz in a very relaxed and welcoming environment. At the end of the night I paid the bill and realised they had not charged me for the sausage. This was a lovely caring touch to end what would be Howard’s last night with us. I would personally like to say thank you to the personnel at The Bull for everything. We will definitely be back.”

“I really couldn't fault this lovely hotel. Room was immaculate and spacious, plenty of coffee, tea and bottles of water. Lovely sitting area by the bedroom window to look out onto the river. Breakfast was fantastic with so much to choose from. I would highly recommend.”

“Had an amazing night at the Riverside House Hotel. The service was impeccable, the food delicious and the rooms comfortable. We stayed in the Rafters room which was well equipped and extremely stylish, with a fantastic ensuite which had jack and jill basins and a roll top bath. Overall this place is absolutely awesome, it's a little on the pricey side (for us normal folk!), however as a special treat I think it is well worth the money. Will definitely be back again!”

“Great stay. Well furnished and decorated. Kitchen could be a tiny bit bigger for cooking for large groups but overall ample room, fridges and amenities. Hot tub was hot when we arrived. There is electric charging for cars if needed.”

“I stayed at Homely Apartments a couple of weeks back and truly enjoyed my stay in this beautiful city. The host was really helpful, the apartment was clean, cozy and had all the amenities I needed to make my stay a comfortable one. I would definitely stay with Homely Apartments if I ever have the opportunity to visit Sheffield again!”

“Stayed last week for the second time. The first being 2 years ago. Really lovely, very clean and well kept. Nice touches like champagne and chocolates on arrival as well as tea coffee and a lot of kitchen condiments. The spa was an amazing addition too. The house is well away from the road and very quiet.”

“Great place to stay, will be returning & using as a base for a few cities. Nothing to much trouble, allowed us to change menu to suit us, breakfast was brilliant. Being non chain they've gone for quality with service, food & rooms. Yes they could save money on quality but it's all about returning customers these days. Over the past few days we've stayed at 7 hotels & pubs, only 2 have been put on our list to return to, this is 1.”

“A beautiful quiet campsite for tents only. Undefined grass paddock with trees and bushes, as well as large open grass areas. Pitch wherever you like, and make use of one of the four or five designated fire pits. Washing up facilities are basic, but adequate. The showers were lovely and hot, and toilet block although basic was kept clean and there was always toilet roll available. The owners / hosts were very accommodating and helpful, and were always available to assist when we had questions. Highly recommend this site for families, young children and anyone wanting a quiet getaway.”

“It's a quiet site on the edge of Misterton. The wardens Mags and Phil are welcoming and helpful as are the owners Chris and Phil. We've been coming here now for the best part of 3 years with our touring caravan as it's only a 30 min drive away for us and a break from town life. We love the quietness, the cycling and the area for a walk as (it's close to a river/canal). On site the pitches are all numbered and generous in size and we feel appropriately priced considering that families and awnings/ehu are included. If you don't want ehu a reduction in price is given. The summer visitors of Swallows can be watched dipping and diving around the site in and out of the barn. There's a play area with a field for kids as long they are supervised. Wildlife is noticeable we've seen Kestrels, Swallows, Robins, Terns, Common Buzzards. Close by within a 10 min walk is a great chippy, chinese takeaway, pizza place. A shop and butchers aswell a 2 pubs a short walk away if you want to eat out. We've had a nice quiet few long weekends over the past 3 weeks, and enjoyed every minute.”

“We've just got back from 4 nights at a Birch Cottage which was in a stunning setting. The prices were very reasonable. The house was clean and the pool was great for the kids, also being very clean. We took a fab circular route and climb to Win hill, well recommended and ate twice in he Cheshire Cheese Inn at the bottom of the lane which was stunning. We also had the Curry Cabin in Hope deliver on the first night, also very tasty. One other recommendation for the owner, I'd update the pack for the house and maybe a small set of goodies or something from somewhere local in arrival... that would top it off nicely. Do beware that the house is spring fed and therefore, water can be a little hit and miss!”

“We stayed at Cheshire Mews as a group of Mountain bikers, exploring the local area, the rooms were clean, modern and well kept. There was plenty of space & good parking. It was ideally situated for a selection of great pubs serving food & drink.”

“Had an amazing stay here in Bakewell, beautiful accommodation. So close to all the amenities and breathtaking views for morning yoga! Maggie was amazingly polite and had superb communication throughout. Incredibly spacious, with many more rooms than we required. Whole place was spotless, and surprised at how large the kitchen was and had plenty of pots/pans/utensils. Would certainly stay again!”

Stacey, our wedding coordinator, was so supportive throughout the entire process, was always on hand to ensure our day ran smoothly and went the extra mile to add personal special touches to our day. “We have just returned from a two night stay in our caravan at this absolutely amazing site. If you’re looking for somewhere to relax this is the place, we setup in the paddock positioned in front of the pods, absolutely stunning views on the sunset and sunrise. Toilets and other facilities throughout the site are absolutely amazing, one of the best I’ve visited over the years and added bonus it’s only 15 minutes from our home. From the initial contact the team made us feel very welcome, special thanks to Alison ☺️ We were also pleasantly surprised during a walk around the lakes on the evening with all the stag statues with lighting etc The sites dog friendly too. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a quiet relaxing weekend away without the children and a spot of fishing.”

“Gate Inn is a pleasant place to stay. The location is convenient, close to the main attractions. The rooms are clean and cosy, there is everything you need. The staff is friendly and attentive, always ready to help. Breakfast is tasty, with a wide choice of dishes. In the restaurant you can try local specialities. Prices are moderate. From the minuses - sometimes it can be noisy because of the proximity to the road. Overall, I recommend Gate Inn for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Excellent value for money.”

“Always top notch food and service. Great themed nights every so often. Recent family funeral at the Markham moor was the best selection of food for a funeral we have ever seen. Everyone in attendance was raving about the quality. Plenty of parking. Bar area for none formal dining and drinks.”

“I honestly don’t know where to start! Me and my family have been coming here for years, all celebrations including big functions for my brothers cricket team and it has always been impeccable! My family decided to book for my 21st birthday meal and as a present the Robyn Loxley suite was booked for me and my partner to stay the night. The suite was absolutely beautiful, spacious, unbelievably clean and beautifully decorated. The thought and little details that go into the suite are stunning and anyone debating booking it you will not be disappointed! Onto the food, every time we have eaten here it has always been amazing but last night was absolutely unreal. We had 20+ people in our booking and every single dish came out on time, fresh and absolutely divine! Every single member of staff was absolutely lovely and made my night so so special, I really will remember this night forever. Thank you to John, his family and all the staff!”

“Such a cozy spot with delicious food! The atmosphere is super warm and inviting, and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. It’s the perfect place for a chill meal or date night. Just make sure to book a reservation ahead of time, it fills up quickly, especially on weekends!”

“A lovely stay at this beautiful hotel. The staff were absolutely fantastic and made the stay even more memorable with their professional, friendly and attentive service throughout. The restaurant was excellent, where the quality of the food was superb. The Location is great and for those who enjoy fly fishing, you have the Derwent (wading) and Wye (bank fishing) rivers. To make the experience even better, you can get a local guide to be with you, providing expert tuition and river knowledge. I had ‘Bernie M’ which was a real privilege to learn from such a well qualified fisherman. We will return as this is a special place; a thoroughly enjoyable few days. Thanks to everyone at the Peacock.”

“Recently stayed for two nights, whilst trading at an event at the Lincoln showground. A small, but very comfortable and clean room, with everything needed, including good wifi. Very friendly hosts, who did earlier than normal breakfasts for us, as we needed an early start. Breakfast was lovely, good choice, plentiful and cooked perfectly. Highly recommended.”

“A fantastic place to stay, can't wait to go back! I was travelling with a baby so emailed ahead to check suitability. The staff were very helpful and suggested I book the Stables as it's a separate building to the others. The room was very spacious; even with a cot, pushchair and changing mat in the room there was still plenty of space for me to pace around in the middle of the night. The bathroom was very clean and the shower was amazing. I love a hot shower and am usually disappointed, but here I had to turn the water down which is very rare. The bed seemed a bit soft to start with but actually was very comfy, and there was no noise from the pub aside from twice we heard another guest coming and going. The location was fab, with plenty of walks right on your doorstep and a short distance to Bakewell I'd definitely recommend and would stay here again in a heartbeat”

“Stayed at the annexe and also had food and drink at the tea room. Room is lovely and perfect base for exploring the area. Tea Room has great food and drink and really welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend both!”

“Nice/pub/restaurant/inn. Good rooms, plenty of parking, quite road which was originally the A1 up till 1960, now bypassed so it is quiet. Large garden with children's play area at the back. A good selection of meals available, mainly around £15 to £20. A good place to stop if you are travelling from London to the Lake District/Northumberland/Edinburgh.”

“We have visited a few times for drinks but today was the first time we dined. The Sunday lunch was wonderful - better than anything else we've had in the area. Great staff lead by a fabulous host and the pub itself is lovely and in a good location. No hesitation in recommending this place”
