“A delightful campsite adjacent to the Sherwood Pines visitor centre in a tranquil location. Friendly staff at reception, who pass you on to a team member on the site who help you decide on a suitable pitch based on your preference. There's a central block with toilets, showers, laundry and dog wash facilities. There's also a children's play area and a bike maintenance and wash facility so you can clean your bike after a ride. The campsite is surrounded by woodland with hiking trails and mountain bike trails, there's also plenty of wildlife in the area. The prices are a bit on the high side but it's a very well maintained site in a great location so worth paying that bit extra for. Would come back again, particularly in the off season when it's very peaceful.”

“We loved our stay here! The lady Laura was fantastic as we arrived slightly late as the walk we were on took longer than anticipated, when we rang she told us not to panic and she'd let us in still, and to travel safely which was lovely. The pod was very clean and tidy on arrival, mugs and hot drinks on a little table. The bed was very comfy and there was heating in the pod which made it warm and cosy. I just wished we could have stayed longer here! We will be back!!!”

Beautifully appointed - attention to detail everywhere - bedroom was lovely and the cooking - sitting area was a surprise and perfect. Can't imagine why I'd ever stay in a hotel again with this available. Recommended. I didn't eat at the nearby restaurant but two of the other guests did and said it was excellent. “Fantastic studio in a peaceful setting. Very clean and even had a welcome basket,fresh eggs and milk in the fridge. Bed was super comfy and the bathroom was very large . They even had a welcome pack for our doggie ,towel,blanket,bed and poop bags just in case . I rate this 14 out of 10 and we will definitely be going back .”

“We have just returned home from a lovely 2 night stay at Slate House Farm. We loved it. It’s well situated with plenty of pubs and restaurants locally. The pods are clean and have everything you need. A nice touch was the addition of marshmallows so we could toast them in the fire pit. The views are amazing and the owners couldn’t do enough whilst still not being intrusive. We will definitely be coming back”

“Very clean room/b&b with a nice freshky cooked breakfast. The b&b is only a 5 minute walk to the city centre, and the free on-site parking is a plus. Staff was very friendly, and the rooms also have a nice selection of tea/coffee/snacks to choose from.”

“Great location and ideal for a getaway. So close to Chatsworth House, so we made full use of the pub & farm shop also situated in Pilsley which boasts veggies from the estate. Breakfast was fantastic - filled out a form the night before with exactly what you liked. I had fresh fruit, which was all fresh! And my partner opted for the full fry up, and cleared the plate every time. Well-adjusted to the COVID-19 safety precautions as well, plenty of sanitiser available and everything was organized so there was minimal contact with other guests.”

“This was my third stay at Millstream Mews, this time in the lovely Fiddlesticks. It's not just comfortable but positively luxurious - and outrageously clean! How Richard manages to keep the properties in such tip-top condition with guests who enjoy all the muddy outdoor activities that the area offers I do not know, but he does, and in a very friendly, efficient and unobtrusive manner. It's not just the accommodation itself that is first class, but also the location. While quietly tucked away and private, you are just a few minutes easy and pleasant walk from the centre of Bakewell itself, which has every amenity you could possibly need for your stay. Bryce clearly wants his guests to have a great time, every time, and I am already looking forward to my next visit.”

“This is a fantastic hidden gem. It has a elsan point and fresh water points. We have always booked sites with electric and premier pitches so this was out of our comfort zone as its a basic site but goodness me. It's turned out to be be our favorite site. We came to an 80s weekend in July and are now attending the Oktoberfest event this weekend. Breakfast, tea and cake and dinner cobs are on offer throughout the weekend. The owners are so obliging and friendly, Make time for the campers, put games and make it a really fun weekend. Would highly recommend this site.”

“We stayed in Harry Eyre Cottage for 4 nights in the middle of February. The cottage was really well located. You can go for walks straight from the cottage of from other points nearby. There are several caves in walking distance as well. We really enjoyed a fire place and the view from the windows. Highly recommend it!”

“One superb site. Well layed out. Good spacious hard standing pitches. Extremely clean facilities and to top it all off a well kept games room and a decent Drying room. Plus a coffee and Pizza van here on Fri and sat morning (for warm croissants and coffee) with a mobile Fish and chip van on Saturday night. Great work from the site team”

“Darwin forest lodges is a brilliant self catering lodges. The Lodge had everything we needed, it was spotlessly clean. They is a swimming pool, soft play area. Golf, spa, pool table, restaurant. The staff are very friendly and if you need help with anything they well help you. They is some lovely walks which is easy for small children. I would very highly recommend it.”

“We stayed the one night in their Farrier room. Total luxury, friendliness and professionalism from check in to check out. The room was stunning, well thought out and had quality items for us to use. The menu does look extensive and it took a while to choose something but what we ended up with couldn't be faulted, absolutely delicious. The owners are super friendly and unpretentious and their hands on approach topped off a lovely stay, we shall return.”

The food was delicious as always, one friend opted for the pie of the day, declaring it to be " the best pie she had ever eaten" - this echoed the sentiments of my husband on our previous visit. We were able to sit outside in the lovely gardens with our after dinner drinks - a delight not to be missed. Great hosts with wonderful friendly service with a good choice of breakfasts. It is short walk to the pub which also serves meals, a social club with such friendly people and there is a cafe and local shops almost next door.”
