“First time I came here to celebrate my friend’s 60th birthday. Very easy to find, right opposite pigeon park, where St Philip’s Cathedral is. Name of restaurant is big and clear, and can’t be missed. I arrived early and was greeted by Astrida, who was lovely! I was holding a big bunch of flowers, which she kindly put away for me and she instantly made me feel very welcome. Tamarah was also very friendly. As I sat and waited for my friends to arrive, I was approached by every member of staff, who asked me if I wanted a drink whilst I was waiting. The customer service was just brilliant! The interior of the restaurant is very stylish and the toilets are posh! The only negative comment I have is that I ordered a main meal (I can’t remember what it was called, but it was newly added to the menu - pasta, white sauce). The proportion of this meal was not enough for it to be served as a main meal. It was something you would expect if you ordered a starter. Proportions of other meals might be ok, but not for this meal. I will still give this restaurant 5 stars as we had a great time, but please take my comments on board, as customers want good value for money.”

“What a great pub with lots of atmosphere right next to the cathedral. Great interior decor. I dived in here during a heavy shower and was welcomed by friendly staff. Good selection of beer. I wasn't hungry but looked at the menus and was tempted.”

“Outstanding customer service I normally wouldn’t start a review like that however it is the headline. They had been an incident so traffic was delayed so my wife rang ahead to say we might be a bit late it was a Friday evening when the heavens have just opened. Monsoon weather in the middle of summer. From the moment we got their you the staff was very pleasant and even delayed the closing so they could accommodate a few of the late comers on another table so if you’re ever in Birmingham I would highly recommend a visit”

“After the manager at broad street let us down, the manager at this location gave amazing customer service. Seated all 11 of us quickly by putting tables together even though it was busy. One of the garlic breads was burnt and they changed it straight away. 5 stars from me”

“I booked Chef Akudo for my wife’s 30th birthday and we were very pleased with the whole experience. It was a 3 course dinner and everything from the taste to presentation was very nice. He is also very friendly and taught us a few things about food science :)”

“We organised a private event for my sisters hen do last weekend where we privately hired the venue and they provided catering for us all. We had 20 people in total of which 8 are vegetarian and no vegans but everybody loved the food, it was delicious. They had thought of everything, playlists, table layout, self serve water on the side and even a tripod to take some group photos. We had a fantastic time and it was so special to have the venue to ourselves with sharing food and excellent service. Thank you again, would highly recommend!!”

“We had a lovely experience from start to finish!!! The atmosphere is great and very warm, and the service is very lovely! We ordered a fusion boat which included many different pieces of sushi and nigiri, variety was great. All the food was amazing and the drinks were too. I would recommend highly it’s a beautiful place with lovely food and a very calm and soothing atmosphere!!”

“A big thank you to the Espresso Quarter barista for this recommendation. He confidently said, “if you like coffee, ONE1 is the best in Birmingham.” If you would have said that 10 years ago, it would be easy to believe. Given the where the coffee scene in Birmingham is now, there are too many good Independents to choose. For my personal taste, Espresso Quarter, located in the Jewellery Quarter, has the best tasting oat flat white in Birmingham. Still, if you want fabulous espresso (house blend or single origin) or filter, ONE1 is a great choice. The barista has high accolades, having worked at Birmingham’s best independents including Quarter Horse. He is passionate about well crafted coffee. What’s cool. Not only is the coffee great tasting, the latte art and coffee wares are of the highest order.”

We’re a team from EH Smith, and we had exclusive use of the restaurant for the evening – and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish. “Came across this hidden gem quite unexpectedly whilst house hunting in Bearwood accompanied with my aunt and brother. Not strictly speaking a restaurant but more a cafe/eatery. Weather was nice so we sat out front and it felt like al fresco dining in your favourite uncle's garden. Our lunches were yummy and freshly prepared. The service and meals were homely. Would definitely recommend and return.”

“Had a smash meal with Mac and cheese fries. Food was delicious, fresh and cooked perfectly! The staff were very friendly and a pleasure to deal with too. The only shame for me was the small gang of moody dudes chilling on the car park taking up two spaces per car and giving my wife and I weird, prolonged looks while we waited in the car for the food to be done. This is by no means the fault of the restaurant though so no stars lost today. I only stopped by because the smell caught us as we drove past, but I'll definitely consider putting in some future just-eat orders and trying more of their menu in the future!”

“Me and my colleagues went to this restaurant for dinner. In this restaurant we have to cook ourselves. I have ordered myself a steak and it was really good meat. My colleagues have offered prawns, sushi and more. The pictures are shown along with this review. The food has been well decorated and nicely mixed with spices. The raw food is being served so that the customer can prepare the food on their own taste and the level of cooking they prefer. Each table have an oven which allows you to cook your food. They do have a very good seating capacity in the restaurant. The restaurant is well decorated. I highly recommend this place.”

“Atmosphere was amazing, Sanjoy prepared a great menu and shared tons of knowledge. Was surprisingly full afterwards despite the small taster portions. But there was a lot to try! Sushi was 10/10, tempura was 10/10 miso soup was 10000/10. Sea urchin is not nice though can't lie. Taste like soap. -7/10”

“Such an amazing gem of a restaurant. The best and most humblest owner and host, made us feel so welcome - he especially showed incredible care to my 1 year old. On to the food, everything looked and tasted AMAZING! The salad was TOP notch and the meat was SOOOO succulent and mouth watering. The sauces were SPECIALLY amazing, much much better than any we get elsewhere - owner makes it himself! If we were local to the restaurant we’d be there ALL the time.”
