“We went for an early dinner there and the pasta was amazing! The salmon pasta especially was incredible. The servers were kind and attentive and exactly what you want when you’re eating out.”
“If you are looking for great craic, good beer and a great atmosphere, this may be the place for you. The live music is amazing, the general vibe is one of community and inclusivity and this is one of the best local pubs I've experienced in Brighton. There is an honest air of friendship and I have had some of the best spontaneous nights out amongst the regulars.”
“Ate here on a whim, left feeling like a new person. This pizza is phenomenal, the crust was pillow soft, and every bite sent me to a different plane of existence. I will be thinking about this pizza for a long time. Some of the best in England by far.”
“We were quickly greeted and seated and there was a lovely buzz as the restaurant was full. There was plenty for the vegetarians among us on the menu, and the waiter advised the abstainers from alcohol as well as suggesting wine to go with our food choices. I had a very good cocktail. When the food came it looked lovely and tasted wonderful. Some Spanish people at the next table seemed to be enjoying theirs, so I think it must be up to Spanish standards. We had ordered rather a lot, but there wasn’t much left! We had a lovely evening, and will be back as soon as we can find some more greedy people to share with!”
“Fantastic spot. Joe had a great perm and knew that he liked my pizza cold (the pizza is unreal)! Very vibey spot with a good seating outdoors and lots of games indoors. Highly recommend for either the accommodation upstairs, or if you just want a game of darts and a Smirnoff peach and lemonade.”
“I loved the atmosphere of this pub! You can tell so much effort went into the halloween decorations, it was so spooky and cozy. Prices were very reasonable and service was friendly. Will definitely be back!”
“Nice cafe cum bar in Lewes. Great food and service. I had a meat plate (full English) which was great - not cheap at £15, but value for money. The coffee is great and I also had a 0% Paulaner beer as it was about 10.30”
“Great choice of beers and friendly service in this small and welcoming pub with affordable prices. Worth a visit.”
“Hands down the best Bulgarian meal I’ve had outside of Bulgaria. Went to Donchevi Kitchen & Bar today with my other half for lunch. As I’m from Bulgaria, I always wanted to share my cuisine but previous attempt have not been successful due to lack of quality original Bulgarian ingredients or chef abilities. This restaurant on the other hand tasted like home. We had kufteta, shopska salad, mousakka, parlenka and chips with Bulgarian cheese. Everything was not only authentic but also delicious. I loved it so much I had to ask for takeaway bag to take some home. I definitely recommend the restaurant to both Bulgarians and to everyone keen to try something different which they will enjoy. My partner is a bit picky with their food as they are British and tend to go with Italian food or British but they loved it too.”
“We had a table booked for 7:30 Wednesday 14th August for 4 people. We were seated in the courtyard and it was beautiful outside under the Jumbrella - the temperature was perfect : 3 of us had the chicken skewers to start and the chicken was so well cooked it easily came off of the skewer and the garlic butter was to die for. The other had the sharing platter for 2 (the fish one) it was a perfect size for a starter and for one person even though the rest of us “helped him out” . Portion sizes perfect. For mains we had 3 steaks and the surf and turf. Really generous portion sizes, quick service, food was DIVINE it was a shame to finish. We all had the same desert the chocolate mousse choux bun and even though nobody really had room for them they went down very easily!!! We will DEFINITELY return. The manager and all of the team were so attentive, friendly and professional it was a delight to be served by them. We loved the fact that it is a dog friendly restaurant and wish that there were more restaurants like this! Keep up the good work!”
“Pork Pozole bowl was delicious, great balance of flavours with the funky Kim chi radish, spicy and fragrant beans and pork, cooling avocado and pickled cabbage. Corn bread to dunk was a lovely addition of sweetness.”
“So glad we popped in here today. A proper pub, great friendly staff and a fantastic garden. Going back for the live music ASAP. Shame it's not my local but 30 miles would be a long walk home.”
“Lovely Ale house. The London Black is a great pint and serves well. Lovely to be in a pub where people chat as there isn't music and TV. (Apart from the live band nights) Really enjoyed it , will be back and not only for the London black. (Didn't mean to go all dr Seuss).”
“Such a good place. Near death people gather here, but in a good way. An older crowd but a right good vibe.”
“Had the best Sunday Roast. Had been searching the area and so glad we came here! Drinks and food were amazing. Roast beef and pork with crackling were delicious. The portion sizes were huge!”
“What a hidden gem that you now need to visit! The most beautiful tapas restaurant in Hove, designed so stylishly and serving pretty amazing tapas with a twist on your more traditional dishes! A huge selection of wines, local Spanish beers and great sangria, and really friendly waiting staff, too. Spent a really enjoyable couple of hours here and cannot wait to return again soon :)”
“Came here because I walked past exploring the area while visiting for the day and could smell the food being prepared was instantly drawn to the pub. It was starting to get busy and most tables were booked but I was able to grab a space and enjoy a really good fish finger sandwich. Didn’t take long to come out, the chips were banging, the sandwich it self was one of the best fish finger sandwiches I’ve had! The tomato sauce was delicious and I found out it was homemade, tasted like a tomato soup (in my opinion). Good service, lovely people who work here and the atmosphere of the people here a good time. Definitely come if you’re heading to Hastings or if you’ve live here and looking for something new.”
“I love this cafe. Can be difficult to get a seat due to its popularity. But I can't say anything bad about it. The smashed avocado with poached eggs, crispy bacon, sourdough toast and pimenton is unbelievable and possibly one of my favourite breakfasts/brunches. I definitely recommend”
“Wow, a lovely little pub with BIG personality! Cozy areas, fun decor, great drinks, everything about this place wants me to live here! A great range of drinks, including non alcoholic cocktails! “We had a great roast here. The staff are so friendly and polite. They are very dog-friendly and even gave him some plain chicken, which he was very pleased about! I will definitely be going back. Thank you x”
“The sunday roast is absolutely amazing. The decor and the vibes are so good and the staff couldn’t be more attentive and friendly.”

“The grilled mackerel was a magnificent, charred and succulent. As a solo walk in diner, I was made to feel so welcome, by everyone: mostly from Christian who goes out of his way to help you with the many great food choices while being honest. His charisma was great, made me laugh. It's testament to the ethos of this place is top notch!”
“I decided to treat myself tonight to a medium cod & medium chips, and they were awesome the cod was succulent and the chips were just how they should be, and because I ordered over the phone by the time I got to the shop I only had to wait 2 or 3 minutes, and now I'm sitting here with a very satisfied full belly listening to some of my favourite music.”
“The new chef produced the most tasty and well presented small plates this evening. Simply delicious, we really enjoyed it and can't wait for when the roasts start in a couple of weeks.”
“Modern art gallery, very archtectural building and incrediable location for views of the sea and town. It really helped to have a guided tour. They bring out some otherwise unfathomable art.”
“Lovely pub right next to the station. Cracking beer line up including 7 cask pumps. Staff were tops. Perfect stop off pre/post train journey.”
“The Black Dove in Brighton is such a cool spot if you’re into quirky, cozy pubs with character. It’s got this relaxed, bohemian vibe—think vintage decor, dim lighting, and mismatched furniture that makes it feel super homey. Perfect for a laid-back evening. The drinks are awesome, especially the cocktails. They’re creative but not too fancy, and they’ve got a solid selection of craft beers too. The staff are really friendly and know their stuff, so if you can’t decide, just ask for a recommendation. The music is great, and there’s even a little basement where they put on events if you want a boogie. My favourite drinks are: Crimson, Kemptown, and Corpse Reviver II.”
“Been here serval times but never for a roast. Pork belly was faultless. Staff are great, and pub is timeless. We will carry on returning forever more. Thank you, Jed & Millie”
