“Best curry we have had for ages! Quality of meat seemed very good and tastes were all so delicious.”
“We have been here a few times and never had a bad meal. We recently came on Saturday 15th and had a chicken curry and a lamb curry both with 3 sides each. Both meats fell apart and melted in your mouth! All the sides were delicious too, the pineapple salsa is Devine! We came again tonight and had a mid week roast, 1 beef and 1 belly pork, omg the dinners were both amazing and would recommend to anybody! Simon and his mum are a true vibe whilst waiting for the food to be dished up! We will be back soon, thank you!”
“It's a very authentic Sri Lankan restaurant. It's very better than Sri Lankan restaurant. I have tried all the items. Its very good in taste and the best part is you can ask them to make it spicy. Best items are fried rice, chicken kothu, all currys, devil dishes , and chicken 65. They make the best Chicken 65.”
“Right around the corner for our stay in Cardiff, we found this restaurant via Google Maps. It was a fantastic surprise. The interior was quiet, beautiful and had an excellent atmosphere. The staff was very friendly, personable and professional. We sampled a lot: hummus with pita bread, lamb, stew, chicken, beef, dolmeh (grape leaf wraps, I believe), doogh (a yogurt drink), mango drink and a Persian-made tea. The portions were very large and everything was delicious. We left with a very positive opinion of the restaurant; one of our best dining experiences in Cardiff.”
“Best curry house in Newport. Food is delicious, cooked fresh and great flavour. All the staff are so helpful and on the ball. Service is excellent. There were 11 of us in total and not a single thing wrong with any of our meals. Thank you again for a great meal!”
“We arrived thinking it was a sit down restaurant (duh!), but decided to do takeaway anyway. Fantastic food, generous portions, wonderful friendly service. They went to the trouble of making a special chickpea side dish for us (as vegetarians) which was amazing. We were provided with cutlery and napkins and went off with our food to a local part with fantastic views over Barry and the sea. What's not to love?”
“Excellent food. Great service. Lovely restaurant. We ordered multiple curries and all of them were individually delicious. Thank you.”
“Had takeaway from here so many times and we’ve never had a bad meal. Great service and always delicious. Tastes fresh, good amount of meat in dishes and spice levels are spot on. Eaten in on a few occasions too - can’t fault Sam and the boys!”
“Had a takeaway from here a few years ago and thought it was the best Chinese I’ve ever had… couldn’t remember the name of the place and it became a running joke about “the one that got away”. . . Stumbled across it by chance again tonight and so happy I’ve found it. Beautiful food. Can’t wait to have it again 10/10”
“This place recently undertook new management , and I went in with my family. We ordered roughly £50 worth of food, and it was absolutely worth every penny. I must say, the garlic naan is astonishing I would highly recommend it. The young man at the front was very welcoming and friendly. The place is full of good vibes, and I’m definitely coming back soon.”
“If you are looking for authentic North Indian food, look no further. Kaku's Kitchen is the place. I have travelled to many places in the UK and tried so many Indian restaurants, apart from couple of times, mostly I was let down by taste. All the menus in so called Indian restaurants have been anglicised loosing the authenticity in the process. Kaku's Kitchen's food is the true taste of India.”
“Go in to have a authentic Kerala food experience without travelling all the way to Kerala, India. Even the interior takes you back to Kerala. Would prefer to reserve the table, and it can become bit busy. I would surely come again if I pass through Cardiff. This restaurant is for people who wants to spend some time together and have food and not for people who are in for quick bite.”
“Best food I’ve eaten in a while, staff are friendly, overall incredible experience”
“I came here years ago, and recently heard that it's still good, so, when I was unable to eat at a nearby restaurant, I decided to check Raj Kinara out again. I'm so glad that the other restaurant has stopped serving food! My wife and I knew that this place was special the moment we walked in. The fountain in the centre and the decor were really beautiful, and a glimpse at the great experience that was to come. The complementary poppadoms and chutneys to start were very welcome. The tandoori mixed platter was large and tasted so good. The rice sides tasted great as well, but unfortunately we accidentally ordered more than we could eat (post-gym hunger convinced our brains that our stomachs were bigger than they actually are) so we did not manage to eat as much as we wanted. Fortunately, the excellent staff came to the rescue! One of the waiters suggested how many bags and containers we would need to pack up our food, so we were able to take our plentiful leftovers home. I can't wait till tomorrow to finish off what we started this evening! We're definitely coming back. The price is well worth the quantity and taste of the food and the excellent service you receive. Edit: I just came back a second time and the poppadoms are definitely not complementary. The food was still good, and I will be coming back again.”
“One of the best restaurant in south wales can't compliment this place enough. The food is amazing nice decor amazing service 10/10”
“The food was very delicious, and the female staff was extremely welcoming and helpful. Highly recommend trying the biryani and thalis!”
“Absolutely delicious food, great atmosphere. Lovely service. Pro tip: try the monkfish starter.”
“We are two girls from South Carolina who dined here 10 days ago. Alexander waited on us and was fabulous! He was super friendly and connected with us right away with great conversation. This place definitely has character. The dishes were superb, fresh, and pleasing to the eye. Thank you!”
“The food here was delicious! Service was fast and the staff are very friendly, I had the chicken kufti to start which was amazing, then chicken tikka masala with a naan bread for main. I couldn’t recommend it enough! The place itself is fairly small so would recommend booking in advance via their website or by ringing ahead. You can also get takeaway and it was very busy which must be a good sign!”
“Amazing food! Staff were amazing so friendly and fast! Food was so tasty would 100% recommend”
“"Our meal at Salkaara was absolutely fantastic! We started with the Chicken 65—spicy, crispy, and full of flavor—and the Peanut Masala , which was a deliciously unique and crunchy treat. For mains, the Mangalan Chicken Curry was rich, aromatic, and perfectly paired with soft garlic nan and basmati rice which we ordered separate . We ended our meal on a sweet note with the creamy Crème Brûlée and classic Vanilla Ice Cream. The service was attentive and friendly, making our dining experience even more enjoyable. A great place for authentic South Indian flavors with a modern twist—highly recommend!"”
“First visit to Ansh, lovely juicy burgers with good structure, potato buns are a winner, star of the show were the Halloumi fries....to die for! Will be back, thanks guys - when you fancy a burger Ansh absolutely hits the spot”
“Great location across from train station… Maybe the best Indian restaurant of the dozen or so I visited this year. Fantastic, attentive staff and great food. Highly recommended.”

“I ordered for my partner to collect today and oh my this is our new favourite curry place. Everything was piping hot and fresh, really delicious. We will be ordering again for sure.”
“Always consistently excellent! Easy to book online, bookings advised. Friendly welcome. Great seats, request a swing seat if you want. Extensive menu, with regular new additions. Efficient service, delicious food. I hope Mowgli open more restaurants in the country!”
“Spice, Spice Baby! Wow! Amazing food with great service. I love my spices and Vanilla Spice got it just right. And the beer was great too. Roar which is a local craft lager was great. Definitely brightened up a dismal wet night in Newport.”
“The all you can eat is fantastic value and the wide variety of food is hot and fresh! The staff are very attentive and are always on hand to take away the used plates & offer more drinks. The venue is modern & clean Leave room for desert!!!”
