“Stylish, clean accommodation. Appreciated the room upgrade. Good facilities, great bathroom. Parking on street. Staff friendly, didn't eat, but cocktails in bar were well made and good value. However, for two night stay we only received £10 Gregg's voucher for breakfast. £2.50, not even sufficient for coffee and a roll. Please will the owners of the Bistro realise they could upgrade to a realistic value. Or maybe send customers to local cafes and thereby support local businesses. Maybe this could be reflected when booking i.e. an optional upgrade when booking online? Feel sure it would make the whole experience nearer the 100% I'm sure you all want and deserve.”

We came back to Toby Carvery Cardiff Gate, and once again, we were absolutely delighted by the exceptional service—from Bron, her manager Ben, and her lovely colleague Caitlin. Bron continues to shine every time we visit. She’s so kind, attentive, and effortlessly warm with everyone she serves. Her ability to make every guest feel welcome and looked after is truly something special. It’s clear she puts her heart into what she does, and it makes a huge difference to the overall experience. We also want to highlight Ben, the manager, who sets a fantastic tone for the team. He’s approachable, supportive, and clearly leads by example. The atmosphere here is so positive and well-organized, and that kind of environment starts at the top. Caitlin was equally brilliant—friendly, upbeat, and always ready with a smile. She worked seamlessly alongside Bron and Ben, helping to create a genuinely warm and welcoming vibe even on a busy day. The food was as delicious and satisfying as ever—hearty portions, well-cooked roasts, and all the trimmings. But it’s truly the people at this location that make it stand out. The care, teamwork, and professionalism we saw today were absolutely top-notch. Thank you again to Bron, Ben, and Caitlin for another memorable visit. “Had a fabulous 2 night stay at this hotel. After initial hiccup (2nd floor + no lift + bad chest) this was resolved immediately and was put in a much larger closer room on the 1st floor. The staff couldn’t be nicer and more accommodating from the front desk to the cleaners to the housekeeping staff. Not modern but that suited me nicely. Brilliant location and more than value for money.”

“We've been going to Henrys since the 70's. It's always a lovely atmosphere. The food is delicious and service second to none. We were served by Julie who gave us her undivided attention and such friendly efficient service.”

“Good hotel located in the center of Cardiff - but close enough to the harbor and coastline. The quality is what you expect from a Park Inn. The rooms are well fitted and clean. Service was very good and breakfast was good. One star goes away because my room had a window to the lobby - strange!”

“Right. Everyone who is leaving 1 star reviews need to get a life! I shop here all the time and I have never had an issue. So do everyone a favour and cut the staff members some slack! Its not their fault if you cant take money off your nectar points and certainly not their fault if you leave your christmas shopping the last minute! They try their very best to make sure you get what you want and they don't need rude obnoxious people like you lot constantly bringing them down! They dont go to work to be harassed, to be constantly had a go at and be bullied! They are trying to do their jobs! So if for some reason you dont like it. Go and shop somewhere else! So if any staff member reads this. Don't let these reviews get to you. You're all great at your jobs!”

“Good Indian sub continent food truck, in a Car park in Canton burb, Cardiff. Interesting menu and good value. My chicken bhunna with rice "meal deal" was nicely spiced and nicely priced.”

“We did Canyoning with our guide Neil who was great. The route was the right level of challenging - few tight squeezes and some decent jumps. The water is as cold as it looks and really does make you feel alive. It’s not the cheapest activity but worth it overall as it was lots of fun and everyone had a great time.”

“After walking around Cardiff market and heading upstairs I stumbled upon this pizza place and there was no way I was walking past without giving one a go. I’m so glad that I did because what fantastic pizza! The pizza was cooked to perfection and full of flavour and all of the menu was reasonably priced. There was a long wait for the pizza to arrive and the extra topping I asked for the guy did make up a price on the spot at £4 which I thought was a little much. But overall I would recommend as it’s some of the best pizza around and it was also great to see this type of place situated in Cardiff market.”

“Great pizza served in a very friendly atmosphere. We have been here in a small group and also a very large catered group (30+) and both occasions, the food was fast, hot and delicious. Save some space for the excellent fresh cannolis - this is definitely not the place of you are counting carbs! Recommended and have returned.”

“The Arcadia Coffee House is one of a kind. They serve hot buttered crumpets, which not many cafes serve. The decor is fab and original and there is a great vibe. I love their lattes, which are served with lots of whipped cream and marshmallows. Their lemon cake is to die for! Tangy, moist and delicious. Need I say more? The Arcadia is situated at the forefront of Newport Arcade, and once you have have finished your latte, there are a myriad of little shops for you to visit there - each with their their own quirky style. You are bound to find something you like. Visit The Arcadia Coffee House and the Arcade itself and you will not be disappointed.”

“One of my fave places to sit and catch up on some work or meet friends. Delicious food, including the BEST cakes and cookies - all home made, pancakes are lush, bacon butties you can not fault. I'm a regular now and only wish they were open more often.”

“Looking for a bite at lunchtime we found Tholos completely by chance, we love Greek, so we decided to try it, so glad we did. The food was incredible, a perfect taste of Greece. The staff were so friendly and helpful, advising us on the size of portions (very generous) as we were eating out with our children. The surroundings were lovely, and the food was out quickly, but we still felt at a relaxed pace. The meal was fabulous, we are so glad we decided to go in. If you are nearby, I 100% recommend a visit. We are returning this week to sample an evening meal whilst we are still on holiday. A wonderful place.”

“Wonderful 70th birthday celebration. Treated royally by professional approachable attentive but not overbearing staff who provided expert explanation of all courses appropriately. The flavoursome food was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection everything was a highlight, high level cookery on offer, the Chefs at this establishment are top notch. My birthday experience was recognised upon arrival by our servers and enhanced sincerely with a superb miniature chocolate & passion fruit cake which I very much appreciated.”

“We stayed one night to do the vineyard tour and tasting We decided to have lunch before hand, and it was so lovely to enjoy the sunshine and try some wines before hand. The lunch menu was extensive and the food was beautifully presented and very flavoursome with garnishes that complimented the dishes perfectly. We also join the restaurant for Dinner and again were not disappointed. My partner even had a birthday dessert cheesecake. Nothing was too much for trouble for any of the serving staff and the gentleman who greeted us was outstanding throughout our whole stay, unfortunately we didn't get his name.”

Support a local business, firstly because they deserve it and secondly because the chain shops and cafes will be fine anyway.”
