“Had a lovely visit recently – the team were really friendly and welcoming. The peri lamb chops were full of flavour and definitely the standout for me, even if they were slightly undercooked cooked. Everything else was decent, though the shawarma wasn’t quite to my taste. Overall, a nice experience and I really appreciate the warm hospitality. Wishing them continued success!”

“Went for a meal a couple of months ago and I was absolutely appalled by the service and the food. Went home annoyed as I was expecting top notch service. However, I recently went for a meal again to try it out one last time with my friends as I thought I’d give the restaurant the benefit of doubt. All I can say now is WOW!!. The restaurant is under new management and the food is absolutely amazing. The new owners and staff are a delight to talk to. The delivery driver himself speaks so politely and even asks if you’re okay. Everything about this place has changed. The food is 5/5. The service is 5/5. The atmosphere is 5/5”

“One of the best places in Derby to grab delicious authentic Samoas! Highly recommended if you visit or live in Derby. The place is on Normanton Road. Been visiting for 15 years, no one can beat the taste! If driving, recommend parking a bit further away and walking to the store. E.g. Lidl (2.5 hours free parking) or the council car park just opposite of Lidl.”

“Following a particularly unappetising meal at a work conference, I opted to call an old buddy of mine to find some proper food. This place is grimy, old fashioned with no thrills. But the food was exquisite. The Tawa really hit the spot. The lamb karahi was something I could not stop eating, and whilst this isn't the kind of place you go to for a 5 star service, it's the kind of place you visit to eat good homely food. The amount of food we received for a £27.99 Tawa for Two was impressive. Thanks iKas!”

“I was at town on Sunday and saw GDK at the food court, and I was greeted kind fully by the staff members at the front. I placed my order on the till and I didn’t even know that students get discounts! I ordered an OG kebab with chicken and my order came within around 2-5 minutes. The kebab was heavily loaded with meat and salad and the sauce made it sooo nice. I would definitely recommend people to come by at GDK, and they’re also giving at discount leaflets too!”

“Amy and the team at the paddock couldn't do enough for us, we came for my daughters 5th birthday and the team were fantastic even bringing the cake out for my daughter and giving her a small soft toy when they knew it was her birthday, the food was also delicious and served very fast! would highly recommend”

“Absolutely brilliant! We stumbled over this place and glad to find it be the best chef and brewer we have been in so far! Heidi looked after us so well, she was friendly and efficient but when we asked about the no leaf salad, the Chef Jo came out of the kitchen and talked us through the menu and was so knowledgeable and friendly! Not only that, the food was the best prepared we have had yet in any chef and brewer! She clearly knows what she’s doing in the kitchen and it shines through. I’d love to have a meal prepared by her again soon! All this and they are dog friendly! Keep it up.”

“We turned up on a Sunday lunch with no booking and it was very busy. However after a 20 minute wait we had a table. Used the app to order drinks and food, and then headed to the carvery. There was a 5 minute queue, but we'll worth it as the food was lovely. The deserts looked amazing, but we were too full to sample them”

“Great pub in the embers inns chain. Used to be my local a few years ago, dropped in today and still good. Real ale great and food lovely, good size beer garden to the side, with wooden shelters to sit inside if it rains, nice outside sitting area at front”

“Nice food court in Derbion. Each restaurant feels distinct, particularly some of the sit-down places. Nice, clean and modern seating and rubbish areas. Good selection of food between American fast food, Mexican food, kebabs, traditional British food and healthier middle-eastern options. Friendly and polite staff.”

“Took the plunge and ordered the big box type meal these guys do. It was pricey, but, I feel was worth every penny! It arrived hot, quickly, even the fries were still crispy! It was quite spicy, but that again, was a plus as the sauces, and marinades were great, not the usual cheap chilli sauce most places seem to use these days.. Very pleased with it overall, shall be returning again, thoroughly recommend.”

“I have been here on a Sunday, first me and my friend came in for a drink and the service was lovely. The outside of the pub has incorporated the old fashion bank style as well as the pub design. Must admit I love the outside and the inside of the building. The only downside would be the outside area (garden) due to uneven surface, but you cannot have it all perfect. Other than that I absolutely loved the style all over the pub. Having a stoma bag it is important that toilet is acceptable to be able to change a stoma bag. I cannot thank enough and probably will be slightly bias to say I loved the toilet. It was more than enough to be able to change the bag without any discomfort. I would highly recommend this place to any disabled person. The toilet was clean, the style was lovely and the space was amazing. You cannot ever please anyone, but surely please my needs at the time. I had another drink (coctail) on a way back home whilst waiting for the bus. Again, amazing, polite service. The drink was lovely too. Cannot recommend enough. I cannot rate the food as I have not been ordering any food yet.”
