“Had a great burger a pint and wine .. the bar tender was very nice and recommended a good place to experience scotch whiskey I think he said it was the black cat Unfortunate we never were able to make it there. We had a full itinerary while we were visiting from the United States. Great atmosphere lots of good vibe people having conversations and enjoying a pint or two.”

“Great little pub in the heart of Edinburgh. Small but efficient selection of beers on tap and cask, and a relatively good selection of whiskies and spirits as well. The bartenders are both fun to chat with, and good at their jobs. Highly recommend!”

“The guy at the bar was fantastic and pleasant. The food was also super tasty. Had a meaty pizza and chicken wings, super enjoyed them. I was there by midday and it looked like it would have a fantastic vibe at night.”

“Joshua did a subtle soft sell of the Haggis Fritters to this old Louisiana Cajun. I had to declare they were “ c'est bon”. The haggis fritters tasted a bit like boudin balls without the rice. The Belhaven Stout was full tasting without being heavy on the tongue. So if you’re a first time Haggis eater, then head on down to the Advocate and ask for Joshua.”

“Great bar to watch some sport or have some beer and food. The wings are amazing and the large portion might be the biggest portion I have ever seen. Maybe I'm getting old but when they put the commentary on for the EPL game I was watching it was too loud. Staff were very friendly, especially the manager who was helping us try find a good table.”

“Amazing as always with out a doubt the atmosphere is impeccable, food is amazing the flavours just explode in your mouth plenty verity of drinks to choose from, service is top notch, staff are always welcoming and happy to assist with any needs to accommodate as well as they can. Will always be my go to spot when I’m in the city.”

“It was a cold wet night. Not many folk were about and we enjoyed what we set out for, a quiet candle lit dinner for 2. Our waitress was very kind and helpful and while not the normal busy atmosphere the vibe I caught was of staff who worked hard and try to set a good standard. The food was excellent.”

Tea for two was also provided. All food was plentiful, fresh and tasty and service was speedy. The bill came to £22. We will be back”
