“Was fortunate enough to catch this gem of a pub before it's demise really can't understand how a pub with great music reasonable priced beer and decent staff can't stay in business . Was made really welcome as an out of towner. If I'd gone to this boozer first I would have stayed all night.”

We forgot to specify that we were booking for a meal so there wasn't supposed to be food on that night but one of the staff swapped into her chef whites & cooked us up a delicious feast. Would absolutely recommend, baked camembert (both flavours) & the mussels were spot on!”

“First visit for drinks then returned for dinner. The superb range of dishes on the menu made it hard to choose. My partner went for duck breast, while I had chicken in a mushroom and brandy sauce. Both meals were delicious. Drinks were well priced and the staff were first class. Friendly, helpful and efficient. The whole ambience of the place is chilled and relaxed with good music and a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended.”

“Dropped in on a Sunday afternoon after Grok (my AI) suggested the Angel as the best spot for a Sunday lunch between Pontefract and Barnsley, boy did grok nail that recommendation!! Fitted us in no problem, food was just amazing (especially the black pudding wrapped scotch eggs!!) portions were huge, like the Yorkshire puddings!!, vegetables all cooked to perfection. Definitely couldn’t fault a single thing, well done to you all, and a shout out to the fabulous staff. Thanks for a great Sunday lunch, you didn’t disappoint and Grok rules for recommendations!!”

“I cannot thank Kings Croft enough for hosting our wedding last weekend. From start to finish, I couldn’t fault them. All staff were attentive and friendly, and were quick to reply to my never ending questions! On the day, the staff couldn’t do enough for us. The food was the best wedding food we’ve ever had! “This pub is local to me but I never really go in when passing by. Today I thought I’d give it a try and it did not disappoint. I had the hot beef baguette with home made chips (which is something you don’t see much these days) which was really tasty with generous portion sizes. Great value, and the staff were really nice too. I will definitely be coming here more now. I sat outside, but the pub was really nice inside too.”

“Went into pontefract it was a ghost town nothing hardly open so went into liquorice bush was made very welcome so we had our Sunday lunch what a meal chicken and beef the meat melted in your mouth the yorkshire pud was great everything on the plate was delicious we had the pensioners one and I couldn't eat all mine all for £6 each where can you get that any better thank you liquorice bush you made our miserable day brighter we will be back”
