“My go-to independent cafe in Leeds. We got the sweet and savoury pancakes which were both delish. Highly recommend this place, the manager/owner is always lovely and a laugh.”
“Food was stunning. Dog friendly. Staff were kind and understanding, able to make small changes to the food such as taking bacon of the burger. Yorkshire pudding was amazing.”
“Fast friendly service, managed to get a table even in prime time. The food was very tasty. Really pleased to have discovered this local brunch place, we all really enjoyed!”
“Lovely atmospheric place for a morning coffee. Literally felt like we sat in a castle's underground prison (because we were!) Coffee was nice and service was quick. We didnt have anything to eat but the sandwiches looked good. Only thing is there are no toilets here! They are the other side of the bridge in the library!”
“We came here as part of our York Ghost Week experience and loved every second of it! The staff is always so kind and helpful, and the food was delicious. I love the Yorkshire cream tea, and heated scones. Also loved the limited edition Chocolate ghosts, wonderful job!”
“The antipasto sandwich is one of my favourite all time sandwiches. Coffee is incredible, prices are reasonable, all round a great spot for lunch”
“In here today between 1pm-2pm. Busy but not overwhelming. Staff couldn't have been nicer (Bobs and Anna). Good food. Good beer. Good coffee. Reasonable prices. Recommended.”
“This lovely hidden gem is a delight of rustic charm. The staff are warm and happy to see you. The soup is a delight with a lovely cultured toasted bread side topped off with a perfect brew! Make sure you go upstairs for a really relaxing atmosphere and comfort with views of the street.”
“Nice to see this place after many years. My uncles bakery used to be where this cafe is, back in the 1970s/1980s. Spend many hours in the apartment above the shop, where they used to live.”
“Absolutely LOVE it here! Such a cozy and cute cafe, hosts a range of creative events and craft workshops as well as having lovely hot drinks and gluten free cake / food options!”
“Great place to chill , meet, let kids play indoors and out, enjoy nature! Sit comfortably in or out, great ice cream and milk shakes ( as you'd hope at milk churn lol). The afternoon tea is great, food and value. Just good for a quick stop off even, for a nice scone and cuppa.. my little reward driving back from Seacroft hosp. My little nieces, love it too, nice environment, they always make nice new friends. Perfect to enjoy on a sunny day, and relax. Enjoy! X”
“It's been a while since I've felt inspired to write a review but I hope the girls who worked Tuesday a.m. see this. (Excellent) coffee and (delicious) granola and toast aside, the two girls serving were exceptional. They were friendly, thoughtful and their quiet chatter created a warm and comfortable atmosphere. I have worked in hospitality all my life and it is rare to come across people so naturally talented at creating a great space as they did. Well done that team!”
“Love love love it. Great selection of ales with a couple of rotating taps. Toilets are clean, cute smoking area with a (mostly) undercover table in case it's raining. No ground toilet that I could see, plus a bit of a step to get in. The bloke behind the bar was a legend and the other customers were too. The vibe is great. Some boards games upstairs. Dogs welcome! Pints are >£6 but it's worth it imo. Favourite pub in Leeds!”
“Really lovely hidden gem. Great service and great food. I stopped here alone on a busy lunch time accommodating a bite to eat. Really lovely food and great cup of tea. I also took a coffee out to try the coffee and not bad at all. Thank you”
“Highly recommend! The pancakes are pure perfection! I visited 2 different spring espresso cafes in York and they were both great. Friendly stuff and accommodating, I asked for a change in my order and they were more than happy to adjust it. The pancakes were a massive portion and super yummy with a generous portion of maple syrup. I’m salivating thinking about them! The coffee was excellent! The brownie was delicious but a bit dry. Overall a great place- would definitely visit again!”
“Lovely little cafe, good selection of food and very friendly staff. Have been in multiple times and always left happy”
“What a lovely independent coffee shop. Lovely friendly staff, who were so cheerful and warm. Coffee was excellent. Cheese and Ham Toastie was superb, generous with the ingredients. Cakes looked amazing. The place was really busy, while the chain coffee shop next door was empty! Spotless toilets! Outside seating too. Right next to the Cathedral.”
“Visited Sandal Castle, mid-July, after discovering it on Google. I was so happy to see there was a café too. We, 3 of us, arrived just as the café was about to close 14:30, the café staff went out of their way to cook me a delicious bacon and sausage roll, my son had 3 cheese roll with chips. We also had 3 home made rock cakes / scones, coffee and cold drinks. I can’t wait for another warm day to return. Carpark is free too.”
“This is one of the nicest and most pleasant little tea-shops i have been too. It's great. Make sure, you have cash or an app for a bank transfers, as they don't want to pay the "sales tax" that the banks take on every contactless payment. And, this might help them deliver the brilliant and friendly service, that they do, at very modest prices. I will do my best to hurry back for a full English next time!”
“I highly recommend this cafe. Food was great and service was fantastic. Plenty of seating. Lovely place to meet with family and friends. A great vegan breakfast.”
“Great cafe in the center of Elland. Great value for money.”
“Staff are always really friendly and cakes are superb. It can be quite busy but that just shows how good the place is and the atmosphere is always nice too. A well kept toilet is available too!”
“A small but perfectly formed space with great decor, a good selection of drink options and great looking food. Seating indoors and out, friendly staff and real mix of customers from all age groups. Worth a visit if you're in the area but more importantly worth the walk there if you're not.”
“We recently had our wedding reception at Archive. In the build-up Jay was always on hand to answer queries and offer help and advice. On the day the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly ensuring we had the best day ever! In fact, it was so good, we might get married all over again! Would certainly recommend as a venue for wedding/party etc. Thanks for helping to make it a great day.”
“We love love love Old George at Heritage Mills! Ever since they opened we have been coming here on little brunch dates or with our little man and every time is a great experience. When we have friends or family visiting from out of town we bring them here knowing it’s great every time. The team are welcoming and friendly, the menu is spot on every time and the coffee (well this is the biggest reason for the shower of love - they know what they are doing)! We also love the tech approach with ordering food and drinks and rewards program for repeat customers is just a great bonus. Special shout out to the Kidlet Pancakes (with a portion of marshmallows) - love from your number one 6 year old fan!”
“Could not speak highly enough of The Cookhouse Cafe, the service from Lisa & Jodie was exceptional and the food was even better. If anyone is thinking about going, I would highly recommend (especially the cookhouse big breakfast)”
“Fabulous little place. Beautiful surroundings. Food and service were amazing”
“Wondering around the town looking for somewhere that appealed and once we went in and saw the menu we were sold! Large menu with lots of items, but what appealed to us was the crepes/waffles. We got an apple crumble crepe which was amazing! Big portion with loads of amazing tasting apple (that they bake themselves), plenty of toffee sauce and cream. We've had crepes before from other restaurants but this is definitely the best one we've ever eaten. Service was really nice and we will definitely be back for another crepe next time we're in the area! There are plenty of places in town that serve coffee and cakes, so they really should be advertising more strongly that they do crepes and waffles as that will bring more people in.”
“Great to have this spot in our ‘village’. Always great service, food and coffee. Best scrambled eggs in LS and BD postcodes bar none!”
“A fantastic coffee machine which is easy to use and makes a lovely coffee. The hot chocolate is good too. Steve gave a great demonstration of the different coffee machines available in a well set up model kitchen. Charlotte has been really helpful too. The guy that came to fit the machine was very helpful and no question was a silly question or too much for him. Would highly recommend Caffe Society”
