“Had a lovely meal Saturday evening, the chef accommodated us, even though we were very late(not our fault) only a few minutes before last food order, he produced a delicious curry for me and delicious fish and chips for my husband. So we decided to book for Sunday carvery. Absolutely delicious with an excellent choice of vegetables and trimmings with a good choice of meats, all very hot, very tasty, well presented by a friendly chef”
“This is one of my favourite pubs in Wakefield. It has a superb location and a large selection of seating from outside on the lawn and the pub garden to inside the pub or it's conservatory. The pub itself is very old and worth visiting purely for this reason. It's full of character and is worth seeing. As for the food - the pies here are next level. The staff are always friendly. So yes definitely one to visit.”
“Stunning atmosphere, excellent staff, food selection service and price fantastic”
“Stopped by for dinner to enjoy a bit of Americana, and we were welcomed with open arms. Wonderful staff and service, I had the ribs which were incredible, we also enjoyed several cocktails including the old fashioned and the snow-ito which were both delicious. Upon learning my partner is from north america, the chef excitedly gave us a kitchen tour, adding to the friendly and welcoming feel of the place. We ended up spending way too much as what we meant to be a quick dinner turned into a 3 course meal. Would visit again!”
“Fabulous day for my daughter's baby shower, the autumnal theme was spectacular, the food, service and atmosphere was brilliant, Abbey and her staff are hardworking and polite and made the day so special. I would definitely recommend The White Horse.”
“Surprised with joy. After a drive through the beautiful countryside my wife and I stopped here for a drink. Warmly welcomed we took a gander at the menu and decided to order food as well. We were not disappointed. The star of the starter menu is the Fish Cocktail, ample in size and great quality. You might want to just order this as a mains! Portions are excellent. I decided on the Steak and Ale Pie. Good choice, not one of those mince and gravy jobs. This was full of braised steak, tasty pastry and solid chips. Just love the red cabbage side. Jack Daniels Chicken also a good choice. The staff were very friendly from the getgo. Happy to chat and definitely interested in checking everything was ok. Parking ample, including disabled parking. Glad to recommend this venue as a place worth stopping at for food, especially if you are hungry. We'll definitely be returning.”
“Lively pub/restaurant, visited on a Saturday so was very busy (would recommend booking if going for food). Was quite loud and a club set up downstairs, ordered food and cocktails which were delicious, the staff were friendly and attentive. Will definitely visit again and highly recommend for some good food and cocktails. I had the bang bang chicken fried rice that was amazing.”
“Really great place! The food has always been amazing, the price is reasonable, the atmosphere is great. We have been for dinnet and also enjoyed one of their themed nights. The puctures are from a Frank Sinatra night which was wonderful and would definitely recommend.”
“Beautiful pub, friendly staff. I popped in for a quick beer and sat in the outside area. Edit: Went back for a sit down meal a few months later. The food surpasses all expectations in its quality and flavour. I had a pizza and some chicken strips. Much, much, better than you'd think. This is my new favourite place.”
“Brilliant food atmosphere excellent. Made to feel welcome. Enjoyed it”
“Great little "proper" pub. Friendly staff, decent beers and nice area. No food served but compliments the pub down the road well.”
“Incredible. Bar staff were friendly and accommodating. What a treat.”
“Seemed really great pub, turned up when it was closed,,but welcomed in, and seemed like everyone was enjoying themselves, I think it was the birthday of the owners family, but will go back another time,as it was really welcoming”
“Already being a big fan of the resteraunt below which is owned by the same people, this gem of a place does not disappoint. It’s fitted out to an excellent standard, easily as nice inside as some of the top bars in town. Beers on tap are brilliant, great wines and I’ve never been a lover of cocktails but the ones here are something else! The staff are really friendly and certainly know their drinks. It’s a great place for before or after a meal in the resteraunt also. Always have a great time here and couldn’t recommend it highly enough!”
“Just a quick stop on the way home. John Smith's and a kebab went down great.”
“Warm friendly welcoming pub .lovely dog to entertain the child.”
“Oh, wow. Off the back of a FB recommendation by Richard Tree, we decided to treat my father and also my brothers visiting friend from the US to a nice pub lunch at the Airedale Heifer, Mirfield - I rang ahead to check if we could get a table for half two. As it happened, the doors opened shortly before then and Ashley, the brand new landlady, was on her own, looking after the venue which she had only just taken on board, running the place. She warmly welcomed us, gave us a background to her taking on the venue and then took to the kitchen to cook a monster order we gave her. Me and Paul had the Mega Meat Platter, Carol had the Buttermilk Chicken Burger and Caroline had the five starter dishes deal - a lot of food for the lot of us with any excess heading to dads small plate to nibble at. While the Platters were all incredible, and Carol gave the chicken burger a solid thumbs up, the standout for us was the Fried Cauliflower Wings with Ginger and Soy Sauce - truly moreish and I couldn’t stop picking at them, even when the stunning meats had filled me up (the chicken was a highlight, utterly buttery). The Airedale is a great venue with a cracking bar, a marvellous menu and a very warm welcome: highly, highly recommended.”
“First time at The Turnpike. Booked table for 4 on line. Great welcome on arrival. Fantastic food. We all had different dishes which were all fabulous - compliments to the chef. Extremely good Indian food which I would highly recommend. Great service, very clean, good value, good atmosphere and lovely helpful staff. We will definitely be going again! Best Indian food I have had in the area!”
“A great atmosphere good beer garden looking onto river. Had no food.”
“We had a great evening meal here. Hubby had the pie & pint offer, which he loved. The chips he said were divine.I had the butternut squash & lentil Wellington which was so tasty & lovelyfresh veg. Hubby had ice cream for pud & I had the apple & fruit crumble. Again no complaints & all very tasty. The service was brilliant. Only 3 tables used but it was a Monday night & everyone seemed happy with what they had. With permission we also stayed in their carpark in our campervan which was lovely, thank you. Definitely on my to come back to list. Oh dog friendly too but we left our old lady comfy in the van.”
“Always makes you feel welcome. Such a lovely traditional pub with a generous portion of Sunday roast (2 for £26). Good coffee and a good selection of beer. It gets busy on Sunday afternoons, so the advice would be to book a table.”
“Local pub in need of a little tlc, however the food and great service from the friendly staff always make it worth a visit. The food is cooked fresh and served hot and the drinks are reasonably priced especially on Mondays when the offer is on.”
“Great beer and friendly efficient staff. Lovely to sit next to the canal in summer. Ones of the best pubs in that part of Leeds. Good for a cheeky pint on the way to the train station.”
“Absolute great night here especially when they have a band on.”
“Visited This Place on a Friday Evening. It was recommended to me by a friend of mine who I was visiting in Roundhay Area of Leeds. A Small Little Place & Could See That The Staff Really Made an Effort For Their Customers While Serving Not Just For Us. Prices are VERY Reasonable at least for Me Since I'm Used to of Paying Silly Money Driving Up & Down The Country. I'm in Business Myself & Would Say That We Should Take Care of Local Small Businesses First in Our Communities & Use Them as Our First Choice Then Going To These Big National Chain Bars/Pubs. I Was Glad to Help This Little Place Through Me & My Friend. I Would Recommend This Place to Everyone 100%. Thanks”
“Called here this aft’ with a party of 10 for works Xmas drinks, the atmosphere of this little gem of a pub is fantastic, I spoke to Siobhon having a chat about the establishment and feeling like a proper venue, everything about this from the bar staff, location was simply amazing, we left after 3 hours but decided to call back in after we were ready to call it a night, great experience.”
“Great pub! Lots of room, good selection of drinks! Friendly staff!”
“Went to Alfies yesterday as I've walked past a few times and really fancied it for a quick bite after a long day. Firstly the staff are so friendly and welcoming and secondly the food is to die for, burgers are cooked to perfection.. would highly recommend so if you havent been yet then you are certainly missing out!”
“Excellent pub with friendly staff and good beers.”
“I had lived in Leeds for 4 years about 15 years ago. I still come back and visit my friends there. Previously, I had only been here at night to have a few pints with my mates, but having come back to visit Leeds after a number of years, I decided to have a Sunday roast before heading back to Manchester Airport. I made a reservation (good idea, as the place really fills up) after seeing they did a roast on Google. I cannot imagine a better Sunday roast. This was an absolute stunner! I'm bringing my Leeds-born son back next year, and we're already planning on visiting Lamb And Flag for a Sunday roast. Do yourself a favour and get yourself over to Lamb and Flag. It also doesn't hurt that it's next door to the rather picturesque Leeds Minster. I can also say that the prices aren't bad at all. Considering I had earlier spent 8 quid on two ice creams from an ice cream van, 32 pounds for a pint, a full Sunday roast, and dessert seemed like quite the deal.”
