“Had cod with smoky tomato butter beans and side dish of mixed veg. Really delicious and different. Lovely and efficient staff. Nice relaxed atmosphere and busy, especially as it was a Monday. Dogs can be brought into the bar. Recommend. Did not stay overnight.”

“Excellent food and excellent service. We had the large portion of brisket (absolutely delicious and our favorite), the small portion of ribs (good but not great (I thought the sauce was just okay. Though in all fairness my friend liked these second best.), the small portion of duck (delicious. My second favorite) , and the sweet potato fries. We finished off the meal with a Sticky Toffee Pudding with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream (WOW !!!). The server said they recommend two small items per person. We had one large, two small and a side. It was actually too much. I would recommend three smalls or one large and one small for two people. I would highly recommend eating at Art Bar Funkel.”

“I absolutely recommend trying their mushroom and chicken vol-au-vent for starters; it's a delicious choice. The cauliflower tempura is accompanied by a fantastic sauce that adds an extra layer of flavor. And if you have a sweet tooth, their cheesecake has always been a favorite of mine. Overall, the food here is consistently great!”

“Truly one of the best fish and chips I I’ve had in a long time. Beautifully cooked haddock in a crispy batter that wasn’t greasy. Very popular so takeaway queue clashes with dining in experience but everyone is most friendly”

“This is a wonderful locally owned hotel and I would absolutely recommend staying here. It is not luxury but you couldn't ask for nicer people and a more comfortable stay. It is right in the center, close to the intercity bus station, and nearby to food and drink. Also, hikes are an easy walk from the front door.”

“We had an amazing lunch at the Beachcomber cafe. To be honest we were expecting fish n chips and burgers but that’s not what we had. Chicken curry, curried cauliflower soup and honey chilli prawns. Fabulous food. Highly recommended. Maybe try to expand the vegetarian options.”
