“I led a wedding ceremony here and the staff were lovely. Its modern and big and run very well its a good set up and I had a great time. Oli the operations manager was lovely and knows his stuff and was very helpful. The wedding ceremony went so well I would definitely work with them again in the future.”
“Popped in for the midday lunch menu. Opened slightly later than advertised due to a gas inspection issue but hey. Once inside I was by myself so no atmosphere, but nice and quite. Ordered the half chicken with rice and a bowl of free salad. The chicken was amazing, fresh and tender and fell of the bone. Staff friendly. Worth the visit.”
“Excellent steak, we had the chateaubriand and we couldn't fault it, cooked to perfection. The staff were friendly, lauren was our waitress who was brilliant, and the restaurant was very busy with a good atmosphere.”
“We come to visit as our brother has just started working here - we were served by Bobbie who was very polite, friendly and very welcoming. Definitely worth visiting for food. Lovely venue that's a bar above other local places we've been in when visiting Portsmouth.”
“I recommend!!! Very tasty breakfast! We were surprised how delicious everything was, freshly prepared and served like in the best restaurant! The chef knows his business! If you want to eat tasty and healthy, then this is the place for you! Very polite and attentive staff! everything was great!”
“Came here when it not long opened and was met with nothing but a smile and a warm welcome! Their entertainment is incredible and their prices for drinks and food is within an affordable price range!”
“I’ve just parked what turned out to be a misconceived prejudice and went for breakfast here. Everything was perfect. I was greeted by a super cheerful lady, shown to a dog friendly area in the restaurant and served with a smile and efficiency. Even bought my dog a fresh bowl of water. My breakfast was cooked fresh, with good quality ingredients. No cheap sausage or bacon here, had a choice of fried or scrambled eggs (I asked for one of each and was obliged) unlimited filter coffee and orange juice finished it off. Paid under fifteen pounds, excellent value and would definitely go again.”
“Great pub in the seafront for a meal or for a drink with friends/family. I had the fish and chips wich it was a decent protion and the fish was okay wich i was expecting haddock or cod and i had something else wich i never had it before. chocolate brownie with salted caramel sauce as a dessert and it was on the specials menu. Our nan had the crayfish spaghetti with chives and she said it was delicious, she would come back if the chef put it in he's menu. The atmosphere is good, nice views if you book a table next to the window, good costumer service from the waitress. I would recomend this place and I will come back if I'm arround the area.”
“Really enjoyed visiting this bar. Was looked after by Steve and all the drinks made for our group were great. They had DJ playing and the atmosphere was good and just what we were after. Would 100% come back again”
“The food arrived really quickly and once arrived was very lovely. Me and my partner thoroughly enjoyed our meal and our starter, main and dessert all came to our table within an hour of us being there. The waiter was very lovely (Sam) and was regularly checking on us making sure we were happy with our meal and if we needed anything. The seating is perfect, nicely separated from others and not too close. Would definitely recommend, will be returning.”
“I really enjoyed my stay here. The rooms felt very new, clean, and efficient, and I especially appreciated how easy the air conditioning was to use. The staff were absolutely lovely, they even helped by heating up my food for me. The lady who checked me in was amazing, though I didn’t catch her name. Overall, a wonderful experience.”
“Just found this amazing place. Only just down the road from me and with a few days off work realised it was so good! Nicest coffee I’ve ever had in Portsmouth and the staff are amazing. Even ended up buying some ground coffee to take home. The flat white and macchiato are perfect and the smells and atmosphere are superb. Couldn’t ask for a nicer place to get your coffee. Might have to start walking down at weekends with the dog - it’s dog friendly and always a friendly canine to say hello. Thank you!”
“A pub ...that serves classic Old style beers , great selection. Has visiting food trucks that serve food on busy nights . Lots of music , listening to old style swing music now with The king of swing himself ...Roy .”
“Absolutely delicious! My partner bought me here after having a great experience with his dad and it was even better than I could have imagined. Fresh flavourful food served by joyful friendly staff who made our evening wonderful. The watermelon lemonade was also fantastic. We can't wait to go back and try the churros next time!”
“I can’t praise the service Jack, Amy and Dan gave us during our bottomless brunch, the hospitality, service and friendliness was truly outstanding- they are a credit to the company. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon.”
“We had a party of 18 for a leaving do, and it was brilliant start to finish. Delicious food cooked to perfection arrived hot and generous portions. Attention to detail from the staff was spot on, always asking for drinks orders keeping everyone happy. Great atmosphere and theme to the restaurant, definetely will be visiting again to try more from the amazing menu!!!”
“Visited here a few weeks ago for some drinks on the weekend. We were served by Kane and he was brilliant. Really nice, great sense of humour and explained the drinks deals to me. He made us all feel welcome and covid safe!”
“So so so amazing. I honestly think this is one of the best restaurants experienced. In fact ‘restaurant’ doesn’t do it justice because it sounds a bit traditional, and this is just incredible. An informal, small, intimate restaurant. Exquisite and inventive food (Adam’s cooking is off the chart - flavours are amazing, quality ingredient sourcing is high on the agenda) , Ruby is the best host - kind, professional, fun and makes amazing cocktails. Just go…. ☺️, but book ahead.”
“We have booked a table for family birthday. mix tapas,Lamb shank. Normally we would have their fresh fishes as main, but this time we pre ordered a paella , it was so delicious . Everything was outstanding. The whole family enjoyed the evening . Big thank you to Antonio”
“Absolutely the best place in Portsmouth. The ladies at the smoke bbq bar are so helpful and friendly. Had a great night.”
“Had a fun evening with the local crowd. We are from Canada and we made to feel most welcome. Beer and food prices are good relative to nearby establishments.”
“Great selection of beers. No food. Friendly staff. Well worth a visit.”
“We love Bar Aroma; just knowing we’ll be there lifts our spirits, whether it’s for our morning coffee or a breakfast of excellent proportions and flavour. Everything is delicious with an Italian flair: the coffee, the quality of the desserts, the seasoning of the food, and you can even find Italian products if that’s your thing. What we enjoy most is the good energy from the staff—they make us feel welcome and at home. They’re the kind of team that motivates you to come back; they remember your name, what you like and what you don’t. It’s clear they do everything with love and passion, and that’s always appreciated when receiving good service. They’re pet-friendly, organise activities with local artists, and you can also book them for important events like Christmas dinner. There are lovely details all around the place, and there are extra services that are much appreciated, like a place to hang your coat and self-service water. The atmosphere is visually pleasing, with photos and touches of Italy. They sell alcohol too :) after all, it’s a bar, hehe. We’re so happy to have places like this in Portsmouth.”
“Food is absolutely stunning... Flavorful, fresh and a great twist on classic flavours eg the brocamole... Fantastic! Food and drink service was quick even though the chef had 6 orders all at once from different tables. Nice clean and modern restaurant. Our only issue was the music, some sort of solom pop... It's a mexican inspired restaurant! something more uplifting/carnival style or even some mariachi guitar would make this place perfect. Will definitely be returning, we have made it our mission to try the whole menu!”
“Having tried a new cafe at the other end of the High Street and found it wanting, we walked to the top of the street and found this lovely, welcoming cafe. Service fun and welcoming, coffee excellent and good prices all round. Would recommend this place and will definitely be back.”
“Thanks for the welcome! Lovely if brief visit! Hopefully, I'll be back down again!! Great aesthetic, friendly staff and locals, great banter, even on a quiet Sunday lunchtime. Top place”
“Huis in Southsea is an absolute gem. From the moment we walked in, the service was warm and friendly with a really nice atmosphere. The kroketten were the perfect starter (one of each, crayfish, cheese and ham hock and cheese) along side the stoofrites with 3 beer beef carbonade. Chips in gravy on a whole other level! It took a lot of self-contol to not pick up the bowl and drink the gravy once the chips were gone! The bloody mary moules et frites were simply outstanding, perfectly cooked mussels in tomato sauce with vodka, celery, tabasco and sun-dried tomatoes. The croque monsieur was the best my friend had ever eaten and she cleared the plate despite the very generous portion. I was a bit ambitous ordering the waffel dessert but glad I did just to see it in all its glory. Add in a fantastic selection of beers , and you’ve got the perfect spot for a meal. Can’t fault a single thing. Can’t wait to go back. Top tip, make sure you book!”
“Went for the first time. It was almost full and we had no reservation but table for 3 was fine. I'm Spanish and a bit reluctant to go to southern european restaurants in the UK due to disappointments on many occasions. We ordered sardines (great, like back home) and calamari (not so great and something I don't ever order in the UK, but my friend wanted to try). Then bacalhau (fantastic), lobster (didn't try but friend say it was great) and fish skewer (just okay, as the salmon was not well done and a bit raw-ish inside, but prawns and other fish were good). Nice desserts too. It's a bit expensive but tbh for the quality and the produce I it is worth it, compared to many other places you go. Yes it's 19 for the bacalhau but that's the price of a Sunday roast these days which much lesser quality produce. They have a lot of deals during the week tbh. I will definitely go back next time I visit Portsmouth.”
