“Ordered takeaway from here on Saturday lunchtime. Delivery was really quick, less than half an hour. Staff were friendly, called me to confirm order. Food was really good, nice amount of veg mixed in, you don't always get that. Great to know a good local Chinese.”

“Lovely little local pub, couldn’t ask for better as a resident, particularly happy that they serve HSB as this was from my hometown and is a little difficult to find. Beer selection is decent, liquor selection is pretty good and the food is reliable and delicious. Happy to spend the evening here anytime. You can also take your dog and they have treats/water available.”

“I've been visiting this pub occasionally for over 15 years. It's always been a consistently good visit. A wonderful choice of beers and an excellent pint of Guinness. Great atmosphere with a distinctive Authentic English hue. Everyone who passes through the door brings happiness by entering, some through leaving.”

“What a pub… Whenever we go in, the staff are friendly and accommodating. Since the refurb it’s so welcoming and inviting with a great selection of beers on tap (that always helps) The food is great fresh pub food, roasts are cracking and priced at just £15, can’t complain! Dessi and the whole Wheatsheaf Team are a credit to the local community. We’re so lucky to have such a great pub at the end of our roads!”

There are plenty of plant based options, gluten free options etc and they will happily make changes to suit. Full English breakfast again was awesome. “Stopped off on a long journey for some lunch. The staff were lovely and the food was delicious. Really nice atmospheric pub. They even allow dogs with open arms which was fantastic and our collie was made to feel very welcome! Thankyou for a lovely meal and an enjoyable rest.”

“Beautiful hotel and unbeatable location Very cosy atmosphere and Very friendly staff. Especially Vanessa and Shiva lunch time both amazing and welcoming. Mia and Tom are very helpful with all the questions we have. We have stayed here. Also, We came here for Christmas Market. The weather was not good, but they have arranged all inside and outside fire pits with Marlow umbrellas very impressive. The room is very beautiful, nice clean thank to housekeeping team genlemen called Marcin very helpful with our luggage and we find out he is working here more than 12 yeasrs WOW, Christmas decorations were going up feel so good. We love to visit this hotel with friends and sure coming back in summer. Thank you Compleat Angler team.”

“We stopped by for a late lunch/early dinner just after 5pm on a Sunday. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, they were serving food which was a plus as many places had stopped. Lots to choose from, the food came out quickly and well presented, I had a chicken roast and my husband had a burger and halloumi fries. We sat outside in the courtyard, it was quiet, perfect for what we wanted and delicious food. We will definitely come back, thank you!”

“Festive Feast with Friends at Beefeater, Southcote. Christmas Eve called for a festive get-together with friends, and Beefeater provided the perfect setting. Snagging a table for six was a Christmas miracle in itself! We kicked things off with their starter deal – £17.99 for four dishes. The chicken wings were a tad over-fried, but the garlic bread and halloumi fries were spot on. Mains were a real treat. The chicken burger was juicy, the fish and chips were classic, and the salmon with asparagus was cooked to perfection. But the real star of the show? The mushy peas! Service was friendly and efficient, our server (didn't catch her name, sadly!) kept everything moving smoothly despite the festive rush. Overall, a great spot for a pre-Christmas catch-up with friends. Good food, good company, and good times. Happy days indeed!”

“Me, my wife and my two kids went last night for a nice meal as we are on holiday. We picked the pub at it had some of the best reviews near our hotel. All I can say is we were blown away. We asked for a table in a corner away from others as my daughter has learning difficulties and hates noise and sometimes cannot stay still, they didn’t even question it. They let us sit in the corner alone near a fire. Our starters were amazing and came out quickly. The sticky barbecue chicken was delicious. Then our mains were amazing. My wife and son had a steak and they were actually cooked right! Which is hard to find these days. Then we had puddings and they were also lovely. The manager (I didn’t get her name) was so attentive which is nice to see as normally at restaurants you don’t get much interaction with them. Everyone was so friendly and polite. We would 100% recommend and if we ever come back on holiday we will be eating here again.”

“Visited Reading for the first time. We just wanted a small lunch so wetherspoons suited us as they have a large selection of everything at a reasonable price. Sat fairly close to the window which enabled us to see the River Kennet. Would of sat outside if weather was warmer to get a better view of the river. But happy inside with comfortable seating.”

“Yesterday we had our annual Christmas get-together, of some 50-60 people. I had arranged this with the bar some months ago as a new venue. From initial engagement through to the celebration the bar team, from manager and each and every staff member was brilliant. From reserving our area to collecting glasses all staff were polite, efficient, and helpful. (Some of our gathering are beyond retirement age and with mobility issues). During the evening the feedback has been excellent. Not one negative comment from anyone who attended. The general comment to me has been that the bar must be our venue going forward for a summer event and definitely next Christmas. I want to thank the whole bar team for making the event an excellent one. Their service made a positive impact and made the day a great one. I know that our attendees thanked staff members personally, but I hope this review reflects theirs and my response to a great day. Would I recommend this venue, YES. “Had a lovely stay at this hotel for my week off! The place is modern, but not in a sad way, which I found to be nice. I was quite nervous around the pool as I am still a very new swimmer, but Becca, who was working at the time, was really helpful and reassuring! Overall a great time.”

“Value is the key here. Meals aim for burgers and pizzas, but other choices are there. Steak Tuesday has been abandoned, a pity, but meat was not always that tender. If you love real ale this is staggeringly good value, and cask ales change regularly. Roughly 10 are available, 6 regulars and 4 are replaced every 3 days or so. Tasting notes always available. Beer prices under half that elsewhere. Not a lager man but plenty there for them who are. Clientele can be a bit dubious at times, but value wins. Small breakfast with unlimited coffee for less than £4 is a good example.”

“We spent the weekend at the Coppid Beech hotel, and couldn't fault the rooms, or service. We had a king room. The kids loved the jacuzzi bath. We chose the hotel due to the location with Lapland UK a 15 minute drive from the hotel. On the morning we were to check out, we planned to go to the coral reef swimming pool and the hotel gave us a complimentary extra hour on the check out time. Service was faultless!”

“Super helpful staff. I tried to book bowling for my son and his friends very last minute, as part of his birthday fun. The website was playing up and not allowing me to book. I tried to call, the line was always busy so I resorted to an email contact. Well, I received a response within minutes and then had someone call me. I was able to book a lane quickly and the staff were very helpful, friendly and responsive. Thank you.”
