“The country park is beautiful. Sadly the cafe is unbelievably banal and lacking in healthy & tasty food, plus closes early whilst the park is still active which is a massive missed opportunity, but maybe one day we can have both! All the nature on and around the water is really wonderful.”

“Great location for family, brilliant water feature play area. Climbing frames, swings open space for picnics. Toilets, cafe and ice cream parlour, lovely walk arond the lake, fishing, lovely scenery. Free parking, well maintained paths, this place is great for all ages, and short or longer stays and relaxkng days.”

“Be prepared if you are walking dogs. Poo bins are in the car park so, you will need to carry those bags for a while.”

“Beautiful grounds! You could easily spend all day here in glorious weather. I’ll certainly be returning with a book and picnic basket. Please be aware it is £3 to park, whether you are a Blue Badge holder or not. Plenty of parking spaces. Highly recommended park to visit.”

“We went to Ulley Country Park today, it rained slightly on and off but it was still very warm. The wildlife was fascinating, despite the weather making it seem hopeless. Today we saw Northern Lapwings and Chinese Geese (I believe) for the first time, alongside several kestrels (three of which got fairly close), moorhens, coots, great crested grebes, mallards, swans, greylag geese, canada geese, a little egret, what we believed was a gadwall and a potential terrapin on the edge of the water. We didn’t see a heron on this occasion, but we most likely will on our next visit. The parking closed a bit earlier than we planned to stay due to us arriving after the school run, but we ended up finding a near enough parking spot. The trail around was slightly difficult due to the trail moving away from the reservoir at one point due to private land, but we managed to see it all by going a different way to get to the other side. Overall, this is a great place for birdwatching or just an overall walk in nature.”

“Good size park. Car parks were in good order. Some of the paths were in a state. Very very muddy. Area to let dogs off leads. A couple of parks. Lake that can be fished. Parking was free.”

“❤️ Lovely walk, clean and quiet. There is a fishing pond for those who fish, lots of little paths through woodland areas. Great place for a stroll, very scenic to say its in Barnsley town centre. Enjoyable for dog walkers, there are paths for when its wet, but gets muddy off the beacon track if you dont mind muddy feet. There are picnic benches around the pond, but the downside to this gorgeous place no rest room facilities along the way. There is also a skateboard park and plenty of parking.”

“It's cheaper than the main carpark, and there's always an ice cream van in the car park. A lovely 7.5 miles walk all round on a good day.”

“my partner and i had a one off free few hours from the child, and we had completed a big job throughout the day so we wanted to enjoy our tea and have something different. the food was beaut, the timings were spot on, the service was great, all the girls and guys working there were friendly and smiley and looked like they enjoyed their job. i believe someone beside us must have been a little tipsy and had been sick. The man who looked like the duty manager on shift dealt with this perfectly and discreetly, hats off to them, brilliant example. well done team, we will visit again, the attentiveness of our server was Shanika, such a smiley young lass, very good at her job”

“Fabulous! We stumbled upon it on a Saturday night and was amazed to see the price of the v good value food on the website menu beforehand. Even more impressed when the food arrived, the quality and standard was fantastic and the bar staff so lovely. Proper homemade food, top quality no skimping on ingredients. Meat packed steak and ale pie, also fisherman's pie full of lots of lovely fish and prawns.”

“Nice small area for kids to play with a small loop scooter ride track. Seating area for adults. Musical interactive metal drums and saxophone that is very engaging. It is close to the kids play area and an ideal space to spend quality time with family having some snacks.”
