“4 night break exploring the area. Nice and central to get to various places including some lovely walks and exploring Leek. Accommodation is great with everything you need to prepare your own meals or eat out. Everything clean and well decorated. Our only problem was the lack of a teapot but this was rectified at once by the owner. Would definitely recommend but do watch the stone walls as you turn in.”

“Great place for a reunion of friends. Would equally suit a family looking for a few nights away. The house is clean though in some areas a bit tired but overall what one would expect for an older property. The views and scenery are stunning and it's very quiet so a great place to get away from it all and unwind. Nearest pub is a short drive away in a nearby village so if you want a pub in walking distance not really doable. The open fire in the lounge is fantastic and we bought extra firewood which is essential. One of the bedrooms was very cramped but the others were great with comfy beds. Kitchen well stocked with utensils, cooker, hob and microwave plus dishwasher a bonus. Overall, for the price, the property, I believe, offers fantastic value for money and great place for stopping a few nights.”

“We stopped in for Sunday lunch today. Don’t be fooled, the place looks unassuming but it packs a punch! We had the pork belly, the beef and the kids had pizza. Utterly delicious. First off you can order yorkies as a side AND a pot of gravy. I am always wanting more of both. Secondly the meat was cooked perfectly there was a great selection of veggies and the roast pots were yum. The portions were just right as well and we were able to sit for a moment and relax whilst the kids went into the playground. The staff were also brilliant, so friendly and helpful. “I stay here regularly for work and always manage to get a good nights sleep, rooms are basic but perfectly adequate, normally with at least a kettle and microwave. Warm in winter and cool in summer. The owners are great, very friendly and helpful.”

“Had a lovely comfortable stay. We were in the coach house very clean bed comfortable but could do with a lick of paint & some attention to the Bathroom. Breakfast was lovely fresh & very filling. The Staff upon arrival & through out our stay were Brilliant! Excellent customer service so friendly. We will be back.”

“We visited after spending the afternoon with the grandchildren at the Pantomine. The meal was from the lunch menu as we were too early for the evening menue. However there was loads to choose from and portions were very big. Presentation was lovely and the service by the waitress GABBIE was five star!! Very polite and attentive. “We've just spent 5 nights in the Byley suite at this lovely hotel. I can't fault it in any way. It's very clean and comfortable. The staff are all friendly and attentive. The breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. The grounds and outside spaces are attractive and well maintained and there's plenty of parking available.”

“On 25th October we had our wedding at the Lion & Swan, WOW it was certainly 5 stars!! After 8 years of being engaged and looking at sooo many venues, we randomly stumbled on The Lion & Swan and when we came for a viewing we knew it was what we were searching for. During the whole time planning our wedding Liam has been great, he is so attentive and nothing is too much trouble! Our wedding day was amazing and went smoothly. The venue is just stunning and even more so with wedding decor. The food was delicious!! Downstairs at Radleys is the perfect place for an evening reception which creates the best atmosphere for a party. Also all of our guests that stayed at the Venue commented on how lovely their bedrooms were and what a nice breakfast they had. We absolutely loved having everything for our special day under one roof and wouldn’t change a thing! Thankyou so much Liam for all of your help and support. Hannah & Dan x”

“Visited for lunch on a Thursday afternoon. The menu is diverse and the food is excellent. Service was mixed - one of the waitresses was good but the other wasn’t great (ignored us at the bar etc). But overall a good experience and we’d definitely return!”

“Just spent a night at the 'Spitfire' Premier Inn, Stafford. Stay was to the standard advertised & expected, although no capacity for hot breakfast due to a restaurant refurb BUT crossed the road & used 'Hurricane' Premier Inn & breakfasted there! I'd mention Sharon on reception at Spitfire who was genuinely welcoming when we first arrived & couldn't do enough to help us (to locate earlier arrived friends, direct us to a wedding venue & advise re local taxi's etc. Such a lovely lady).”

“It's a lovely old building with a rustic feel, not at all too serious. Most floors and stairs are very creaky, not sure that any pair of walls are at a proper angle, but far from a criticism it shows how origonal the place is and adds a lot of charm. All staff I've met have been amazing. Food is great. Will certanly look up this place every time i'm ever in Stafford overnight.”

Even the local were welcoming and offered their wealth of experience and knowledge of the local area and history. The meals are priced well and prepared to an exceptional standard. They were plentiful and tasted wonderful.”

“A lovely little site situated in the Staffordshire countryside. We've had a really relaxing and peaceful weekend here. Communication from the owner was brilliant. Electric hook up and water to the pitch. Toilet facilities were basic but spotless. If you needed it there was a shed with a fridge and washing up facilities. We will definitely book again and recommend to friends.”

“Carlton is a great place to live - spacious, secure, clean and in a perfect location for Staffs Uni students! Just a short walk from the rail station and local food shops is an extra bonus! Staff are very friendly and always cater to individual needs. Rooms are great with lots of space and nice interior designs. Any problems with room maintenance are always solved quickly. I've thoroughly enjoyed living in Carlton for a year and look forward to another year there. Would definitely recommend to any students looking for a safe, friendly, affordable and overall welcoming environment to live in.”

“Nice atmosphere in this recently refurbished pub, An interesting selection of ales from Lymestone Brewery. Had to try a pint of Ein Stein has it had my name on it ! There were a fair few people in for a Sunday Evening which was nice to see.”
