“A lovely place to stay so quiet. The fresh milk and rockie road was a lovely touch. Not far from Chester, the zoo . We stayed in the corn store cottage. The family was extremely friendly. It was just my daughter and myself and we would happily go again”
“Great place to stay. Highly recommended. We stayed there as a family of 4 during our visit to the Alton Towers. We stayed in the chalet, which is a great choice for families. Lovely, very helpful owners. Delicious breakfast served into our chalet. Children have the option to get pancakes. Will definitely come back if visiting the area again.”
“The Horseshoe in Astbury is an absolute gem! The food is nothing short of amazing – beautifully cooked, full of flavor, and presented with care. Whether you're enjoying a hearty meal or a lighter option, the quality truly stands out. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a charming rustic vibe that makes it the perfect spot for a relaxed meal. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, always ensuring that you feel welcomed and well looked after. It's the ideal place for any occasion, whether you're dining with family, meeting friends, or just looking for a cozy escape with great food. Highly recommended!”
“Wonderful location close to the trams and grocery stores. The suite was large with two bedrooms (and ensuites) on opposite sides of the living area. The kitchen was stocked adequately with dishes and pots/pans for making some meals and also has a washing machine/drying rack for laundry. It was clean and comfortable. However, we did wish the bed was a bit harder. While the bedrooms are large there isn't much floor space for larger suitcases. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend.”
“Lovely lady that owns this place. I have posted a video on my YouTube channel. User @thefisherdan and it's the Macclesfield wild camping video. Thank you for letting us stay at such short notice. So cheap too!”
“We had a group meal here following a hike, very welcoming atmosphere. Roaring fire. Food was served on hot plates and was delicious. Staff were efficient and friendly.”
“We stayed here on a fully serviced pitch in our own tourer. Such beautiful site in lovely surroundings, so well kept and with luxury shower, toilet and washing facilities. The little shop has a few essentials to keep you going. It also has firepits to hire so you can spend a cozy evening around the fire. The owners are so helpful, kind and friendly. Its a short walk to Hulme end where you will find a lovely country pub (The Manifold) which serves lovely food and drinks. This was our 2nd stay and we will definitely be back again.”
“We last visited 25 years ago and it was like visiting an old friend. The house is lovely and quiet and the grounds gorgeous. Everyone was helpful and nothing was a bother. Hopefully won't be another 25 years.”
“It was a wild and windy night. Fabulous welcome entering the pub with 2 fires burning and excellent staff. The food offered was a good mix of traditional fare with some modern twists. Everything was homemade and tasty. Because of this, it is not a hurried experience. So enjoy.”
“Top service from Sandbach Tyres. Phoned about a screw in my tyre. Within 30 mins of the initial call a new tyre was fitted at my home. Quick and first class service. Highly recommended.”
“Thank you Daisy, had a fabulous relaxing treatment, pro 60 facial. Great facial whuch also came with a lovely face and shoulder massage. So relaxing. Xx”
“Lovely welcome. Spent 2 nights there as a gift. Lovely friendly staff. Beautiful rooms. Fabulous food ...probably some of the best we have had, both set lunch and breakfasts. The lovely Hodnet Hall just across the road...do not pass that by and the beautiful village church. Would def return to the Bear Inn and recommend to others and I can't say that about many places for food tbh or accommodation in the Midlands. Alison and Sandra particularly lovely at breakfasts and hats off to all the team members behind the scenes... excellent!”
“Just spent an amazing weekend there, visiting Alton Towers. Jo is a wonderful host, full of information and super dedicated to her guests. The rooms were super clean, the bathroom is spacious, and the views are beautiful, especially if you're into the whole British countryside thing. The breakfast is also nice, with great homemade Staffordshire oatcakes and local jam. Will definitely come back next time I'm at Alton Towers.”
“I stayed in the Eagle's Nest apartment while workng for a week in Stafford, only 15-20 minutes away. Helen and Andy have curated a wonderful old building into a delightful combination of B&B plus the flat. I had a warm welcome (the B&B bit - so much better than a code and a lockbox) with the offer of a complementary home made flapjack on my arrival. I was shown up to the flat and around it, so that all thereafter was simple. Helen is enthusiastic about the house and its history and was a great host - the welcoming bowl of fruit and biscuits is always a nice touch. Plenty to do in and around Eccleshall and Helen showed me to a 5K into the countryside from the house that I did a couple of times. Pubs and food in Eccleshall. Give it a go.”
“Our stay was delightful. We had a fantastic time in Buxton. The location of the guesthouse was excellent, easily walkable to everywhere and across from a gorgeous park. Very peaceful. The breakfast was delicious, with a great selection and freshly prepared. The service was smooth and professional, all the staff were so efficient and friendly. The room was large and comfortable, very clean with good beds.”
“We (The Travelling Pig Event Catering Company) catered for a wedding at Blithfield Lakeside Barns on Saturday 20th September 2025, and what an amazing venue. Alex and staff were very friendly and accommodating throughout the day, and we couldn't have wished for a better venue for our catering needs. It is the perfect place for family and friends to gather for any special occasion. Highly recommend”
“This place is excellent value for money. It is run by lovely people who are very eager to please. The accommodation is not luxurious but is adequate and is spotlessly clean. I would definitely recommend this place as somewhere to stay over for a short stay on a budget. Breakfast is of a good quality ,very fresh and hot and cooked well.”

“Great B&B with lots of heart! Very friendly owners, and so cosy to stay here in this piece of history. Make sure you go for their Derbyshire Full English breakfast”
“A beautiful place to stay with a host in Simon who makes the experience of staying even better. The location is perfect for visits to Stoke on Trent and there are a host of great local pubs to eat at within 20 minutes. Breakfast was ideal and would recommend the oatcakes! Would love to stay again.”
“Lovely hotel in a beautiful quiet surroundings, only 10 minutes drive from Alton Towers. Rooms are lovely, breakfast in the morning is delicious, freshly cooked to order. We had a lovely stay there and can recommend this place to anyone :)”
“Glorious views from a wonderful pitch on the old orchard. Lovely site overall, with welcoming owners who provided local info and walk suggestions. Not just quiet, but a peaceful site where the owners are sympathetic to the local wildlife and natural environment. We had owls and bats to watch/listen to at night, and a butterflies and birdsong during the day. We walked to Rudyard lake, although didn’t manage to find a route without a short stretch of road walking. A fantastic escape, would highly recommend.”
“We stayed in our motorhome for two nights. Lovely, peaceful site, good facilities, especially for a CL site. Very helpful owner. About 5 miles easy drive to Malpas with shops and pubs. Easy access into the site for our 8m motorhome. Thoroughly recommended.”
“Stopped in here after a trip to the local Blaze farm with our toddler. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and the place was very modern and clean. The food menu was very good with lots of choice. I had a steak and red wine pie and it was delicious, my wife had a fish and chips without fault and our son had a burger and chips. They gave him the option for beans or peas and as he couldn’t decide gave him both at no extra charge which was a nice touch. Not expensive for the quality, service and setting. Highly recommend if you are in the area.”
“We had a reunion night which was brilliant Landlord and staff so pleasant and helpful Good food well done we will be back cheers”
“We stayed for a week this summer and loved it, very welcoming and friendly staff. Toilets and shower facilities are excellent, very clean and well maintained. Lovely communal building where we used the kettle and microwave provided. Great location for visiting the surrounding area. We had a campervan pitch, lovely in the evenings with so much wildlife! Would recommend and will certainly look to stay at other sister sites or come back to Longnor if back in the Peak District.”
“Lovely campsite in excellent location with with very nice bathroom facilities. We stayed in the upper field which had lovely views. Lots of options for walks, cycle rides and climbs close by. The owners Trish and Wayne went out of their way to send me my electric toothbrush which I left in the toilets. Amazing service and would definitely recommend!”
“Lovely pub with charm, atmosphere and friendly staff. Would definitely recommend as a place to stop and eat”
“This is my favourite hotel I stayed at in a while, mainly due to the design of the rooms. All was very clean, the bar downstairs offers delicious food and drinks and you are one minute away from high street.”
