“Absolutely beautiful building with such a rich history. Most know that the most famous owner was Ann Lister but the building is very old and has some fabulous examples of medieval architecture. Well worth a visit a true gem. We did a guided tour which was so informative and the guides were brilliant. The grounds are immaculate and the park is full of things to do and see. If you haven't been to Shibden you are missing out.”

“My walk to the waterfall took about an hour. I walked slowly, trying to capture every beautiful corner with my camera. I was lucky with the warm and sunny weather — everything felt alive with summer. On the way, I was greeted by sheep, and photographing them was a joy of its own. If you’re looking for a place for a photoshoot, go to the waterfall — you’ll definitely take unforgettable shots. And if you simply want to escape the hustle and bustle, this is also the perfect spot to recharge.”

“Another one of Bradfords hidden treasures. This is such a beautiful place for a walk or run. It's not a place where I would take my kids for safety reasons. The dam walls are level with the trail or footpath, and there are no handrails around, so they could trip and fall in easily if left to run freely. It's more a place to escape for a while. Take in the fresh air and listen to the soothing sounds of the birds in the trees and the ducks in the water. The trail through the woods is a bit boggy in areas but good for the most part. It gets very narrow but provides fantastic views over looking the reservoir. Free parking is available at the entrance on Howarth Road. It really a magical place.”

“A wooded area with winding footpaths up the hill. There is a stream and fountain. Very dog friendly. Different areas of play equipment, and seating areas. There was a trail around the park to follow snowmen pictures that lead to a Christmas tree”

“Both my boys go here for swimming lessons. We change after one of the teachers from here covered a swim lesson at the previous swim school. The difference in teaching style was amazing, found out where she teaches (swim rite) moved my boys there, they have come on leaps and bounds since, with one of my children just about to start swimming competitively and hoping the other one will soon.”

“We have two kids who are very strong swimmers and we have been coming swimnation for the last 5 years. Both my kids could swim without armbands from the age of 6 years old. Swimnation is a wonderful business with a fantastic team of instructors, we could not say a bad word about any of them. They take their jobs very seriously but know how to make it fun for all the children at the same time. “Myrtle Park is a great place to bring dog. Down by the river is quiet and he loves to swim after the ball. There’s a playground and tea room at the top end. Fun place to bring kids.”

“Brilliant day, my Grandson loved the sandpit and the pizza in the restaurant was good, not frozen cardboard type that you get in a lot of kids meals. I guess it's quite expensive, but as we live locally we will use the unlimited additional twelve months access”

“I had some time to kill between the hotel kick out time and the event I was going to so I thought I would go exploring, with my camera in hand. What an absolute find Manor Heath Park was! Watching the wildlife playfully flitting about, seeing a wide array of fabulous doggos, and being surrounded by a plethora of beautiful flowers was just an ideal way to spend my Sunday morning. I can only imagine how beautiful it all looks when fully in bloom come spring time. I would highly recommend a visit if you're in the area.”

“Great for families, children and dogs alike. Plenty of space for sport, it has gym equipment, large playground, wooded area for dog walkers, a stream which children and dogs love to play in, and is conveniently right next to a Tesco. There is a car park at one end, and parking on the main road too.”

“I take both of my kids ti swim lessons at Colne Valley. Have ample parking spaces (free for 2 hours) knowledgeable and helping staff and some very good facilities”

“A HIDDEN GEM! I use the park regularly for walking the dogs or taking the kids to play football and use the playground equipment. The park is home to a lovely woodland walk that provides great opportunities for nature photography. For the runners out there, the Parkrun is an absolutely fantastic event which takes place every Saturday morning attracting runners from far and wide. Enjoy orienteering? Well thanks to the East Pennine Orienteering Club, the park now has 3 virtual orienteering courses which can be accessed using the MapRun app on your mobile device. Various events held throughout the year such as the recent Halloween Trail which my family thoroughly enjoyed. The park has an active Friends of Group and a number of improvement works have already taken place following public consultation events and the formation of a development group made up of local services in Calderdale and North Halifax. These improvements include the restoration of the monument/fountain feature, resurfacing of the main paths within the park, a number of robust picnic benches being put in, larger waste bins, a volunteer bin with a code locked compartment which holds litter picking equipment for community volunteers to access. Overall I'd highly recommend a visit. It doesn't have the reputation of some of the better known parks in Calderdale but Shroggs really is a lovely little place, steeped in history and the perfect outdoor location to enjoy time with the family, or even some wind down time on your own with a stroll as I often do myself. My one real issue is down to a minority of irresponsible dog owners resulting in a ridiculous amount of dog muck which either myself or another parent has to remove from the main football pitch on a Sunday morning so the kids can enjoy their matches without the risk of sliding in it. Usually enough to fill a carrier bag.”

“This is a great club, really friendly staff and a personal touch on every visit. I tried Pure Gym for a while because it was cheaper but have returned to Nuffield. Much better facilities including the pool, sauna and steam room. A great place to relax after work. The swimming instructors are also brilliant.”

“I visited the hospital upstairs. The layout is a bit strange. At the entrance you will find the parking pay machines (pay on your way out). Then you see an escalator taking you upstairs. The leisure centre reception is downstairs on the left. Upstairs you can find the lifts to the hospital.”

“Ravensknowle Park is approx 12 acres (5 ha) of parkland, forming the grounds of Tolson Museum. The park may be small-ish, but it's lovely to wander round, and is well-maintained. It's popular with families with young children. It's home to the striking Cloth Hall Shelter, this being the entrance and clock tower from the old Cloth Hall, moved here from Huddersfield town centre after the Cloth Hall was demolished in 1929/30. There is ample free parking on site. The museum serves refreshments, with outside seating. The Tolson Museum is also worth a visit; entry is free.”
