“I have not gone to many Chinese restaurants throughout my life, but when my brother and I were on a trip to Edinburgh we stumbled upon the entrance to this place. We were immediately entranced by the magical stairway leading up from the busy street and into the restaurant. The contrast from wet busy street to this clean/dreamy restaurant made me feel like I was ascending into a mythical Chinese hero realm as I made my way up the stairs. The staff here are amazing, some of the most hospitable people I have come across in the restaurant industry. They didn’t mind us sitting for hours, enjoying tea and playing chess and were quick to ask us if we needed anything else. If I lived in Edinburgh I would be a regular here.”

“I can only really give the whole experience five stars based on how everything occurred: We'd just so happened to stop outside the restaurant, on the way to getting salt and pepper chips at another restaurant, but then as we stopped, I immediately saw salt and pepper chips on the menu outside of Jimmy's Express. Within a heartbeat, a server came out, asked us how we are and I mentioned what food I was looking for, and he quite humoruously said, "well, you cannot eat outside, come on in". He took our orders quickly and the food was with us within moments. We were also given complimentary oranges.”

“I wanted to take my mum to somewhere new as I’m tired of going to the same place, we ended up here randomly by searching for Korean BBQ in Edinburgh and I’m soooo glad we did. The portions were the best we’ve had in a while and everything was filled with loads of flavour. It’s a spacious restaurant and there was plenty of space to place my huge stroller beside me. “Great chineese food in very ordinary surroundings. Essentially a take away with 3 tables and chairs if you want to eat there. I eat there as the lovely chineese lady so lovely to chat to. Tonight I had delicious special noodles with many mixed meat and crunchy veg and prawns for less than fiver.”

“I have had take outs from here and they are always have been delicious. Today I decided to dine in. I didn't booked a table, the staff were so accommodating and cordial. The food was amazing, if you want to taste Chinese food with fresh products, this is the place to go, the food was incredible tasty. The staff so helpful and friendly.”

“During my visit to Edinburgh i tried Nanyang Restaurant and was very impressed with the food and the portion sizes. We were unable to finish all the food. The service and atmosphere was also top class. Not sure why they would redo the receipt and add 25p because i requested 1 container to take away some food, was it even worth the hassle”

“We (2 people) ordered beef fried noodles and king prawn fried rice for lunch. It was really big portion and good value. The fly rice was cooked professionally at Chinese way. Kind prawn was fresh. We tried also the Hong Kong style milk tea which is rare in western world. It was really a surprise. We will be back for sure.”

“I booked a table here for myself and my girlfriend after looking on trip advisor,the food was absolutely delicious!!,my girlfriend had the lemon chicken and donuts for dessert,I had the chicken chow mein and banana fritta,everything was made to perfection,the menu is nice and simple,the staff were very friendly and efficient,overall a great dining experience,highly recommend,ill be returning next time im in Edinburgh.”

“Great spot for authentic Sichuan food. The Sichuan fatty beef was fantastic—tender slices in a spicy, numbing broth with fresh herbs. Seasoned fries with garlic and chilli were a fun twist. The pork stir-fries were tasty and well-balanced. Portions were generous, service was quick, and everything felt fresh. Perfect if you enjoy real Sichuan heat. Would definitely go back.”
