“What a delightful place for a celebration or even just a drink. The quality of the food is top notch and worth the trip. Staff are friendly and able to make adjustments as required. The bruschetta was strong with garlic and the tomatoes were very fresh and juicy. The chicken was thin and crispy, paired with the delicious spaghetti topped with fresh tomatoes and basil. The meal was finished off with zeppola. This is a crispy choux bun filled with sweet vanilla cream. I was able to get this without the cherries and it was perfect. We will defiantly be back when we come back to Leeds!”

“Ordered here late last night and the food was honestly some of the best indian i’ve had in Leeds. It was all fresh and packed full of flavour, whilst not being too greasy. I collected it and the men were very polite can’t recommend enough!”

“Only bobbed by for a quick potato scallop, which came with bits .. bloody amazing. Crispy batter, butter soft potato in the middle , with free bits on top.. rally a meal in itself , but I got one to try and review, and happy i was too. “We went on 5th December before seeing Miss Saigon. It was very festive, all tables were taken and the atmosphere was joyous. The staff were excellent, one of our meals didn’t have enough chicken in it. As soon as we raised this with our waiter he apologised and solved the problem. More chicken was presented to our table in good time as we were all still eating. Very reasonably priced and good food for the centre of town and an excellent service”

“The atmosphere was calm, cool and welcoming. The welcome we received from all staff was everything, I absolutely loved it. The food was great, you can eat as much as you want for less. I particularly loved the rice, chicken and the fish. The dessert was complimentary for us and unfortunately I don’t know the name but I tell you the best was saved for the last because I loved it (you can check my pictures for the dessert). You have to pay extra for your drinks. It was a really lovely time there and I’d definitely be visiting again. I recommend! You may book for a group as large as 10, we all had a lovely evening. Food is halal (for Muslims)”

“Called in for tea yesterday and not had fish n chips in a while because of the huge price increase on them, but this place has some set meals at really good prices, mini fish n chips with a side £6, a bargain in todays market and it wasn’t that mini either a really good size fish and it was bloody lovely the fish was best I’ve had in a long time. Definitely the best place in the area and will definitely be back !”

“Lovely hotel, last visited 6 years ago and still as good as it was the last time. Great vibe and ambiance, my room - a Club - was very large, extremely clean, and comfortable. Nice little touches like four Nespresso pods, fancy tea, nice biscuits and a couple of Ferraro Rochers. Beds incredibly comfortable, couldn’t hear any noise at all, and black out curtains kept out the light! It was my birthday stay and was pleasantly surprised to receive a voucher for two free cocktails in the hotel bar. The bartender was fab, environment was great - 10/10 all round for the stay and would def come back. Price/performance ratio excellent.”

“Had several meals now over last couple of years, always consistently good. Is more Bangladeshi style, although other classics on the menu. Onion bhaji is excellent. Lamb melted in mouth, absolutely excellent. Bhuna sauce very tasty. Amazing bhaji and great chaat. Chapattis good too. Definitely the best in local area.”

“I have been using Recent Beans for nearly 3 years now, the service is brilliant, you can tell the care, love and passion that is put in. More importantly than that the coffee selection is amazing, in scope and quality. One thing I need to add is that I have had to switch to decaf recently, and i spent ages searching for a decent Instant (to no avail) as our stock of the good stuff was used, then we switched to the Recent Beans decaf, all i can say is wow its amazing!!! So coffee lovers or decaf hunters this is the place for you I honestly can not recommend their service, there decaf or their other coffees enough”

“We had El Kantina as the caterer for our wedding reception food. They were an absolute hit, thanks to the incredible Mexican food served from the coolest horse trailer—we had so many guests rave about it! As the bride and groom, we barely had a moment to ourselves and missed grabbing a plate during the night, gutted. But Laura, absolute legend, tucked a box away for us to enjoy later, that we were very thankful for! The food was delicious, the vibe spot-on, would 100% recommend!”

“Came back in September 2025. Surprise was the mackerel and potatoes stuffed in crumbs which is kind of like a scotch egg but without eggs. The sea bass was a small portion though. Overall, we still live the food and service is great. We ordered four dishes and beer each, cost about £51 in total. Back in 2024: First time we giving a restaurant five stars for food, service and atmosphere. This place changed my perception of Sri Lanka food as my ignorant self thought was only thick curry similar to Indian. The food is top notch, refreshing curry that I finished every drop of, huge hake mallum is just something extraordinary which I've never tasted before. Must order the mallum and king prawn curry. Even the side dish of rice is so soft and fluffy, I am going to ask them where I can get the rice. Service is attentive and friendly, and seating is comfortable, great interior design. I'd go on but best that more people try this place for themselves. Totally worth paying the price. We ordered four tapas, a side and a dessert and we had already overeaten.”

“Would 10000% recommend The Hovels to anyone looking for a wedding venue. Josh was an absolute star from start to finish, he went above and beyond for us and the planning process could not have been easier. The whole team at the Hovels were lovely on the day and everything ran so smoothly. The venue and grounds are beautiful and the cottages round the corner are so handy too! The food was incredible, so many guests said it was the best wedding food they'd ever had and there was plenty to go round too so nobody was left hungry. We also really appreciated that there were no extra hidden costs after booking and we never felt pressured to add on additional extras either! We absolutely had the best day we could've imagined and were so happy with our choice to get married at the Hovels ❤️”

“This is the third time visiting Vesuvius and each time we have been blown away by the amazing food! The chefs and staff are so friendly and there is such a welcoming atmosphere. Our favourites are the Napoletana and Bufala. Such authentic flavours and a lovely restaurant. Won’t go anywhere else for pizza. As a vegetarian it’s great having so many options and also a vegan option! Best pizza I’ve had by miles- and I’m not just saying that. So fresh and delicious”

“Placed an order for collection Friday evening, I was expecting there to be a big wait as it’s a popular time, however food was ready to collect in under 20 minutes. Got home with the food and it was all piping hot, tasted amazing (the mixed kebab on naan is beautiful). Everything tasted fresh, seasoned and a very fair portion size for the price.”

There are some unusual and very tasty dishes on the menu and we all tried something new. Thank you to our server Emma who was able to answer all our questions about the food.
