“Great place for a brew, and of course best wine list in town.”
“Great variety of international wines, excellent service always willing to recommend a wine for different occasions.”
“Amazing place with beautiful grounds housing tables, pods and enormous tented bar with great views. Choose whether you eat outside or inside. Awesome Sunday lunch with choice of meats and nut roast for the veggies. Choose a small or standard serving. Delicious apple crumble & custard to follow. Generous portions and reasonable prices in this current climate.”
“My husband and I did the Gun Powder Plot room and completed it with 5 minutes to go. It was a lot of fun and not too challenging. We got some very tasty drinks from the bar before hand: definitely worth it. Staff was very friendly and accommodating, and the seating area is clean and cozy, best described as a Steampunk Speakeasy.”
“Amazing shop has everything you need! Great selection of beers, wines, spirits and lots more alcohol! They do delivery service too! Lots of good snacks sweets and cold drinks! Billy”
“All wines are organic, which is a big plus for me. Service is always excellent and delivery prompt. Highly recommend.”

“Always a good to visit, friendly atmosphere service.”
“Always have a laugh with the gents in here. Great range of spirits wines and beers. Extremely cheap in comparison to the local sainsburys supermarket.”
“Young lady who works there is lovely and very helpful”
“Sam's micro pub. Had a great evening. Very family-friendly place. Dog friendly.”
“Really delicious! Everything was freshly made and the seafood was top quality. The staff were super friendly and the airfield view was interesting! I'll definitely be back.”
“Called in with my wife on Friday afternoon whilst visiting Pontefract. Lovely friendly landlady and a great selection of cask ales, will be back soon.”
“My husband and I I went for dinner and had an incredible experience. Dishes are many and varied and all seem to be mouth-watering. We ordered gorgonzola-and-nuts gnocchi and mushroom ravioli and they were both absolutely delicious! The atmosphere was great, as was the service. A little bit pricier than other places, but totally worth it!”
“I visited Cafe No 8 before Covid and really loved the food. They shorten their operation hours after Covid and we finally made it for Sunday lunch today. We had a starter, mains and dessert. The food was just as good as I remembered. Service was good too. This place just celebrated their 20 years' anniversary in York which tells you that they got to be good to last that long given the ultra competitive food scene here. The food was of top quality, refined and cooked with care. We had beef and pork tenderloin and they were so tender. The potatoes were roasted perfectly. And we had a selection of vegetables (Broccolini, Parsnip, Carrots, Spring Onions etc) not over cooked like many places. And I was so glad to try the Dark Belgian Chocolate Truffle with Black Sesame Ice Cream. I love black sesame ice cream but is a rarity to find them in York. I wish I could buy a tub of their black sesame ice cream and bring it home. If you are looking for a place with a relaxed atmosphere, serving non-pretentious and delicious food, I recommend Cafe No 8 Bistro.”
“We recently had our wedding reception at Archive. In the build-up Jay was always on hand to answer queries and offer help and advice. On the day the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly ensuring we had the best day ever! In fact, it was so good, we might get married all over again! Would certainly recommend as a venue for wedding/party etc. Thanks for helping to make it a great day.”
“Fabulous place for either a take away or to sit in. Plenty of car parking at the side. Superb food and service with plenty of choice. A definite must try for breakfast lor lunch!”
“Lovely real ale pub. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Great beer garden. Best Sunday lunch ever and delicious pizzas”
“We were enjoying a weekend away in Linton and booked a table at The Windmill for Sunday lunch. Highly recommend. We were very well looked after by the deputy manager, Renee. Meal and service was excellent.”
“We found Major Tom's Social to be very welcoming. They serve a wide selection of good beers and play an eclectic selection of music. They only have a small food menu. However, the food is so good they don't need a wider range. We felt that a lot of thought went into the food and drink offers.”
“As a member of Belgrave Social Club, I can confidently say it’s one of the most welcoming places, lovely staff and in general, just a fun place to be.”
“Just bobbed in hoping for a meal, lucky on a Sunday afternoon for us 2 to be given space to eat. We will book next time, and so very worth while doing so!., gets busy and quickly, for good reason too.. thank you all!!”
“Food was really nice & the lad who served us was really friendly & helpful. Had a table booked for half 7 but didn't get sat down until 7:45 as our table wasn't ready when we arrived. Really nice place inside.”
“Really glad we stopped for a pint on our annual night away in beautiful Yorkshire. Lovely friendly staff and reasonable prices drinks . Will definitely return 5*”
“Great live music venue. Worth a visit.”
“This is a great place. Great staff, efficient and friendly. They do really good food. Just had an amazing cheesy garlic bread”
“The food was excellent but the portions were small for the money. Exceptional experience for our Date Night. We absolutely enjoyed the chef making us feel entertained and even involving us in the activities and fun. Highly recommend.”
“Great food. Fantastic atmosphere. Lovely staff. Been here a few times, and it's always been a great experience.”
“Seriously delicious food. Walked in without booking on a Sunday and luckily secured a spot. Looking around they were doing multiple shifts of booked tables so next time I'll book in advance to be sure of a place! The staff was very attentive and even brought hot water with lemon when they noticed my aunt had a cough. We weren't charged for it which made us feel seen and appreciated. Waiter was happy and in for a joke but professional nonetheless. Both waiters on duty took time to answer our questions and didn't rush us to order. The food tasted excellent, was served quickly, but didn't feel like it was pre-made. I will definitely be returning.”
“Friday nights at vudu are incredible. The music, the atmosphere is just everything you could ask for. I would definitely recommend!”
