“Absolutely delightful pub and setting, we stopped off after a short walk on the canal. As my daughter loves live music they let us stay for a little while to little while and listen to it. We are very grateful to them, thank you. Is probably more catered to the hipster student types but if I was 15-20 years younger I would have loved it there. Excellent.”

“After a great first visit in November, I returned to La Cantina in February 2025 for another business lunch – this time with a different group of colleagues. One of my business partners ordered the Chicken Saffron, which looked and smelled fantastic, while I decided to try something new… and epic. I went for The Beast – a massive steak, also called Tomahawk by the chef (who I suspect might be Spanish – which would make sense, given how truly Mediterranean the kitchen feels). Whether it was 32oz or 42oz, I’m not sure – but the size and presentation were unforgettable. Served on the bone, grilled medium-well, juicy, rich in flavour… easily one of the most impressive steaks I’ve ever had. As a starter, I ordered the King Prawns Alla Cantina – partly because my business partner from the first visit couldn’t stop talking about them. And yes, he was right – they were juicy, full of flavour and served hot, just the way they should be. I finished (barely!) with the chocolate fudge cake, which once again delivered that warm, rich, gooey texture I loved the first time – plus smooth vanilla ice cream and generous chocolate sauce. Incredible. I’ll absolutely return to explore more of the menu – because everything I’ve tried so far has been fantastic. And if you’re reading this: drop a comment if you’ve tried The Beast yourself – for me it was a serious challenge. One thing I know for sure now: no more starters before that steak! :))”

“Came here for brunch here on Friday 27th before a local appointment. We had tried to go both Morrisons & M&S Cafe before we came here but both weren’t serving food! Just as well as Rise & Grind were more than happy to serve us and provide us with a really fantastic brunch. Food was excellent and service was top. I had the Full English and my wife had the Sourdough with prosciutto parma ham. She said hers was delicious as well. Many thanks to the staff (for the food and for just being open!!) and hope you have a great New Years. Will definitely be back when we are next in Liverpool seeing the family.”

“I do not normally repeat food places when travelling cause I like to try different things, but this place was so good that we went twice during our stay in Liverpool! Staff was lovely and friendly, quick service, and food was delicious. Fair prices for the quality of the food! Dog friendly, easy to find parking spots nearby and there is a nice park close by to have a stroll afterwards. The street where it is located is very cool with many restaurants. I really enjoyed the vibe!”

“It's definitely a good place to visit if you're around this part of town. Been several times over a two year period and every visit, either if it's just for a drink or a meal, like today, it's great. The staff are always welcoming you and pendant to take your order at the right time. Complimentary water without asking for it. It's atmosphere is cozy and modern. Facilities are clean, as well as their toilets. The prices are in line with average.”

“Another top burger! I'd been meaning to have the 'On your knees Texas Pete' burger again for a while after I had it whilst hungover last time. I felt I'd enjoy it a bit more when I had a bigger appetite and felt less nauseous! And my intuition was right. It went down much better and was packed with tasty meat. It could be better though... The sauces were quite sparce (particularly the chilli jam) and not spread well so were mostly in the middle. I'm also not a big fan of the pretzel bun either. It's quite tough to get your teeth into and doesn't soak in any juices or sauce either. The brisket was delicious and had nice flavour, although I couldn't say any Dr Pepper flavour was noticeable from it. Definitely one of the best places for burgers in Warrington and I'll miss it when I move up to the northeast this month. Previous visit: Incredible burgers! I've had a few of the different offering from here over a few years and never been disappointed. The 'Tony Montana' though has topped the lot. Fantastic flavours from the sauces and a good amount of chorizo. The patties they use are delicious! The fries didn't add much to the burger really but were a nice gimmick and made the stack more impressive as well as messier. I also had the BBQ wings. A huge portion with a good covering of sauce. They were beautifully crisp but a little overcooked so the chicken was quite dry. One of the best places around for a burger and plenty of mouthwatering options. Another previous visit: Delicious 'Chick Norris' breakfast dish and nice tater tots. Top place with a great menu. Fantastic burgers but don't miss out on the boneless wings! Massive portion and they're bangin!”

“So, first we went to another local restaurant, which didn't have a Christmas dinner ready at lunch time the first day of offering. Anyway, we thought we'd try and get in Nelson's, even though we knew it would be quite busy. The car park was quite full, but even though we had come in two cars, we found parking and went in. Christmas lunches were in full effect and the dine area was full and we couldn't get a party of three until 90 mins later. However, we could sit and be served in the lounge straight away, so we did that. We had the turkey dinner pictured and it was delicious, lots of food and everything was cooked to perfection. The gravy was lovely too. We then had a chocolate and toffee cheesecake for dessert and that was also delicious and a decent portion with a little scoop of ice cream. The staff were great and our waiter had an attention to detail I wasn't expecting. Overall I would recommend highly. My preconceived thoughts were it's going to be pretentious, but it really wasn't.”

“Table of 5 for a 70th birthday. Arrived to a lovely welcome and no waiting round, ordered drinks whilst deciding on food. Mixture of starters can highly recommend the Tandoori Lamb chops which were unreal. Mains we had a mixture with rices (onion rice is so good) and Nana's. Kids had the Tandoori Chicken Sizzler. Food was so tasty and hot. The staff were so friendly and nothing was to much trouble. Stopped and took time to have a chat with us. At the end of our meal after we asked for our bill they brought out a cake with a sparkler on for my Mum which was a complete surprise and not expected at all. They sang Happy birthday to her. This really made her night. ,(It's little things like this that really make this place special) The bill was worth every penny for what we ordered and the service we received. Thank you.”

“Ordered Donner Kebab for the missus she loves them said bread is dead fresh doesn't break, salad is fresh and also asked not to cook donner meat on grill and was spot on with that. I had boneless chicken wings with smokey barbecue sauce absolutely lovely. Delivery was in about 10-15 mins and food was still hot. Can't complain at all. Have visited the shop for takeaway a few times and staff are down to earth and polite. Best scran gaff in bootle by far.”
