Public pools in Northampton

“Not a place for nervous dogs as virtually all dogs are running free and playing with each other. I've seen all sizes of dogs here from chihuahuas to Afghans and have in over 2 years never seen a fight between dogs. The 2 fields are well maintained by the local authorities, grass is cut regularly. Bins are emptied 2/3 times a week. If I had any suggestions they would be :- another bin for dog waste on the other side of the park. And would be a great idea if provision could be made for drinking water for the dogs.”

“Lovely well maintained gardens right in the centre of Dunstable close to the shops and the theatre and leisure complex.Nice place to sit and relax in between shops or activities. We'll worth a visit”

“Very pleasant walk round. Dogs enjoy the many smells and views. Lots of fishing chilling the night away. Must be a safe place due to the amount of fishermen staying overnight. Right next to the canal not far from the Grove Lock.”

“Well maintained and a great range of play equipment for all ages. Splash park and cafe open seasonally. Downside is there are no public toilets nearby ( nearest ones are in public car park a walk away) Toilets adjacent cafe generally open when cafe is operational .......”

I also appreciate the variety the park offers – there are sports courts, an outdoor gym, and large open spaces where you can walk your dog. Everything is clean, well-kept, and welcoming to visitors. The park also regularly hosts events, so there’s always something interesting happening. Access is easy, with parking available on-site. However, it would be even better if there were more trash bins throughout the park and easier access to toilets, especially for families with young children. For me, Addison Howard Park is still the perfect place to take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life – I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a friendly and refreshing outdoor space! The newly updated playground is fantastic – safe, colorful, and well-designed, offering plenty of fun for children.”

“This is the local park (along with Priory Country Park) for anyone living in east Bedford. I've included pictures of the Embankment, the Boating Lake and the river as they are so close but Russell Park itself is already full to the brim with lovely walks, an extensive playground (with an accessible section), The Kiosk that serves wonderful smoothies and has public toilets, and a mini golf. A lot of events are held here (Bedford Running Festival, main act at the River Festival, amusements, etc.) and it's the perfect spot for a summer picnic, an autumn leaf-focused romp, a winter stroll or a spring wildlife watching exercise.”

“Great reserve with plenty of different trails and hides. Abundant bird life too, I saw 46 different species in just under and hour whilst I was here. The paths were a bit wet so if it has rained a lot bring your wellies.”

“Plenty of parking on Weekdays and good clean toilets. There is a small cafe with an outdoor area useful to shelter from the odd rainy day. The walks around the lake are popular with dog walkers and parents with smaller children”

“So much fun when it snows! Enough for a small snow man, beautiful in summer, big play area for kids, little hill for snow sledging and big enough to walk around for a while or look at the ducks on the pond :)”

“Great outdoor space with tree lined walking paths, streams and canal paths great for family days out. This area is located in the Water Eaton district of Bletchley, but can also be accessed via the Rugby Club just off of Watling Street opposite Dobbies Garden Centre. Ample free parking can be found, there is also a nice little play area for the kids. Great picnic space for those warm days, there are picnic tables and seating scattered about so you do not have to sit on the grass. There is also a community orchard to be found there, ample seating and you are allowed to pick the fruit when it is in season. Great place would recommend a visit.”

“A lovely, large and sprawling park perfect for a hot summer day to chill out and relax in. There are a number of benches for resting and a good number of litter and dog waste bins. The park is surrounded by woods and the Grand Union Canal and is a short walk to local shops. In the summer football and cricket are played on the fields.”

“Irthlingborough Lakes is a very big, lovely, quiet, peaceful lake with lots of nature and wildlife. I recently went for some birdwatching and the results were incredible. I would highly recommend a visit here, if you're into nature or birds. And it's also free”

“Excellent place for exercising your dogs without interfering with others. Reasonably priced and easy to get to. It appears to be well drained as unlike some fields it doesn't become a complete mud-pit at the slightest drop of rain. It certainly seems to cope better than some with the added benefit of a fair sized shelter if it gets too bad.”
