“This place is a must visit for Norwich, absolutely incredible, definitely some of the best in the area. Everyone I know loves and raves about XO and rightly so, the venue is lovely along with the staff and the food is reasonably priced considering how good it is. I do wish you could see what’s on the menu when booking or before going as it seems to change often and the website wasn’t up to date when we visited - would only like to know so I can time my next visit to try different menu items”
“An amazing meal at Dhaba at 15. The food was absolutely amazing with great service. Was my 1st time and I will definitely be returning. Can recommend the Baigan kathraki achar with Patta Chaat as a starter.”
“This morning, I had a delightful traditional English breakfast at the Street Cafe. The staff was welcoming, polite, and friendly, providing excellent table service. The breakfast was not only well presented but also delicious. Despite the mix of customers, including young children, the atmosphere was relaxing and cozy. I highly recommend this street cafe, which features a great selection of reasonably priced breakfasts and snacks, including options for both vegetarians and vegans.”
“Our favourite breakfast/brunch spot in Norwich! 10/10 food and very dog friendly - staff were so nice to our dog, gave him fuss, a blanket and treats. Lovely decor vibes too inside!”
“Extremely comfortable well appointed room, done to a high standard. Unfortunately the bar & restaurant was closed due to it been a Monday. So made do with excellent biscuits in the room. The breakfast next day was very nice and the staff were friendly and helpful. A quiet out of the way hotel with superb rooms, well worth a stay,”
“Lovely Cafe, great food and service with a smile. Great atmosphere whereby all made you feel welcome. We visited twice and were more than happy with everything, the owner Steve was very friendly and accommodating. If we visit Norwich again I would definitely make this one of our first stops.”
“Spending an unplanned day in Norwich I fancied an English style restaurant lunch. Bishop’s was the first one I found among the huge range of international options. I used the online booking system but this failed to get through to the restaurant. However, there was no drama and we were seated without any delay. The service from the owner was first class as was the 3-course set lunch menu. Each dish was special and I picked up a few new ideas to try myself at home. A great experience and the set menu was excellent value for money.”
“Awesome family run business. Very welcoming from the moment I stepped in. The food was excellent and very reasonable priced, all made traditionally over charcoal which gives it that authentic taste. The staff were very attentive and very hospitable. Big shout out to Ibrahim! I wish this business and this family all the best. Support your local independent businesses!”
“We had booked a table for two on the occasion of my birthday, but didn't really know what to expect. At first, we couldn't actually find the place, despite being guided by Google maps, because it's tucked away on the first floor of a building and with only a rather non-descript sign outside. When entering the building, we were asked whether we had a reservation, and when going upstairs and entering the place, it became clear that they don't really need to advertise their presence outside, as it clearly seems hugely popular amongst people who know about it. In a way, it felt like entering a VIP club... The restaurant is much smaller than I had anticipated, and at first we felt a bit disappointed at being led to a small high table in the centre of the room. But when we realised what a special place it is, all hint of a disappointment instantly vanished. Meat cannot be selected from an ordinary menu, but must be ordered off handwritten boards, and there is only a very limited number of each cut, clearly labelled from which farm they come from. It's all about local produce, quality and presentation. This is a very special place, very different from ordinary steak houses, and it turned out to be the perfect place for my birthday meal!”
“An outstanding lunch with charming and chatty host/ server. A lovely find away from the town centre. Highly recommended”
“I only had the burger, but it was exceptional, and the waitress was very nice too. She explained that tonight's was a simple menu because the service coincided with a pub quiz in the Roseberry, but I would be keen to try their more elaborate offerings on another night.”
“All the dishes ordered were soooo good. Lobster wz salad, fried potato+salad; seafood various ++ all soo good.”
“We had an amazing ploughman’s lunch today. The bread was homemade as was the coleslaw. The onions were pickled in balsamic vinegar which were delicious. I had a lovely local cheese and my husband had a local ham. The butter was free a local farm. Well worth the money. Also a very friendly pub. Very well done.”
“Amazing coffee and friendly service! They have a great selection of cakes and other desserts. Would recommend :)”
“This was brilliant, can't believe it. How we have carved this food. Really spot on with flavours and not bad value Many veggie dishes and an extensive menu. Loved the green and red curry And the spring rolls, you need to.order a few portions. The kids loved them as well”
“Perfect place as a base for visiting our daughter in Norwich. Room was fantastic and the shower was great too. My concerns about noise from the car park was unfounded, no problems at all. The cooked breakfast was fantastic, we will be coming back!”
“We had a gorgeous Sunday roast trying the pork and chicken - excellent food, amazing service, very, very loud. Food - The food was excellent, I've had a great many roasts in my time and this was one of the best, as you can see in the video the pork pulled apart with a fork and it was so juicy, the chicken came as a supreme and was very generous, the only thing worth mentioning as a negative is there was such a variety of veg that the portions of each felt mean (that's subjective and barely worth mentioning) Service - Fantastic all the way, ordering is split between food and drinks, food is ordered at the table and drinks are ordered at the bar. The server took our order really quick and the food came out very fast. They were attentive but not intrusive, A+. Drink service was swift and professional, we had soft drinks and after I had ordered they were brought straight to the table, again, this was swift. A service charge is added to the bill. Atmosphere - The bar itself is aesthetically pleasing with a reclaimed, hipsterish vibe. It's a massive open space with the bar in the centre and this is where the issues begin. It's loud, aggressively loud, I couldn't hear my partner or the staff at all and given the complete lack of soft furnishings every sound echoes around and around. As someone with sensory issues I struggled. The seating and tables are mismatched which is cute but I barely managed to get my legs under the table as the seats were too tall, the tables are also packed in close and I spent half my meal with my back touching the person behind me. There is a soft seating area at the back of the bar which I didn't see until I had already eaten, it's a much quieter and more comfortable area and I really wish I had seen it earlier. To be clear it's pretty and if you're into the whole community eating, cacophony thing, it's a good atmosphere. Accessibility - Poor, it's very tight, you won't get a wheelchair through it, it's loud so bad for people with sensory issues, there's no parking lot so you take your chances on the very tight streets outside and you'll struggle to order drinks as there are tables surrounding the bar.”
“Loved this pub. Right on the river what a magnificent setting. The Sunday lunch was tasty and big, no corners cut. So relaxing watching the boats go by and our dog enjoyed it too paddling in the overspill from the river Highly recommended”
“I had a fantastic mother's day meal at the White Horse today with dear friends and my two teenage children. We were greeted by the new landlord with complimentary prosecco and a truffle style chocolate for the mum's that were dining. We all had a fantastic 2 course meal. There was a wide range to choose from and the pricing was incredibly reasonable with two courses for approx £25 3 of our diners chose the roasts, my son had venison and I had the sea bass and saffron prawns. My overall favourite was the starter, it was simple, delicious and cooked to perfection. I've attached a photo We then sampled their new cocktail menu, the teens had the mocktails and I had a sex on the beach and an espresso martini for dessert. It was such a nice treat to have a glass full of cocktail as opposed to a glass half filled with ice (which seems to be the norm nowadays) All the staff were really friendly and attentive, it really did feel like a special treat in a relaxed atmosphere! Thanks everyone! Looking forward to eating with you again soon”
“We were upstairs, very nice. Food delicious and they were very accommodating for our fussy lot.”
“Great food and service. Shabby chic feel. Taken over where House left off. Highly recommend.”
“Love this place and its surroundings. I like how we can assemble our own breakfast and just choose what we like :) Mushroom was the highlight of my plate, very fresh and flavourful. Pork sausage is great too! The only thing was the oat latte was a bit weak, if you like stronger milk-added coffee then probably go for flat white or cappuccino.”
“Came for breakfast today with my little boy and partner and will definitely be returning. Was the loveliest experience which was made better by real personable, attentive staff. It’s rare to find a business where the people want to have genuine conversation with you. Food was perfect, all in all perfect! Thank you”
“This is a shop not a restaurant. Great fish and chips, genuinely the best you can get. And for me just 5 minutes up the road. Lovely grub.”
“Easy to find as it’s just off the road, a bit noisy with traffic zooming by but who cares it was nice to sit outdoors and eat a deliciously huge veggie breakfast with nice touches like braised vine tomatoes, spinach and pepper . The waitresses were really friendly and served us quickly and efficiently.”
“Fantastic Sunday roast! We had a wonderful family meal; everyone enjoyed their chosen roasts (chicken, beef, and pork). The portions were generous and everything was perfectly cooked. The cauliflower cheese was delicious! The restaurant is beautifully decorated, comfortable, and full of unique little details that make the space feel special. The staff were very welcoming and friendly throughout. We’re already looking forward to coming back to try other dishes!”
“My daughter and son in law had their wedding reception here last night and wow what a lovely little pub...the landlady and staff pulled out all the stops and decorated it beautifully for them.really lovely little gem of a place will definitely be coming here for food in the future as have heard the do great food.”
“This restaurant serves truly delicious Portuguese food with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The bread with olive oil and olives is soft, fragrant, and a perfect start. The fried squid is fresh and full of flavour, while the Portuguese beer pairs wonderfully. A great spot to enjoy authentic tastes!”
“This is a great upmarket pub restaurant, you can eat in the bar area or upstairs, lovely decor throughout, great service, good bar with good selection of drinks. The food is really good, well presented to a high standard.”
“A delightfully authentic Italian deli in the centre of Norwich. I treated myself to a feast for lunch which included pizza slices, a sausage roll, and the best of all: a focaccia with olives, pesto and tomato. Absolutely top-notch food, and the look and feel of the place is also something to write home about. Highly recommended!”
