“We visited yesterday for Sunday Lunch, and I have to say it was a solid 10/10 experience! The food was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was fantastic, creating a great dining experience. Despite being very busy, the staff exceeded all our expectations with their excellent service. We will definitely be back soon for another wonderful meal!M”
“One of the best little known gems in Reading. Whilst the menu is mostly stake, the enoki mushrooms are amazing and should not be missed by veggies. The wine and cocktail list is extensive but expertly curated.”
“Really nice place! Very accommodating! Got a seat on the bar as they were busy and great watching all the kitchen staff work! Bacon was amazing! Pancakes were great too!! Wanna go back for poached eggs on muffins”
“Really nice, authentic Chinese and Cantonese cuisine served at this restaurant throughout the day. Tea sets are also authentic and served like typical cha chaan tengs.”
“Always so friendly here, I’ve been almost bedridden for the last few weeks because of my depression and Pierre’s baguettes have been single-handedly keeping me fed, it’s affordable, tasty and accessible on deliveroo which really helps people like me for when I feel like I’m trapped at home but need something that won’t break the bank, it’s always delivered so quick as well 15-20 minutes usually and I live far outside of town. Such a lovely place to grab something cheap for lunch and the workers are always so kind, really a gem in Reading”
“Really nice place for food, baguettes freshly baked, lovely fillings and a nice variety of salad. Always pleasant and deserves the support. Nice prices too.”
“Good food. Reasonable prices. Friendly people. Lovely!!”
“Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. We had a two year old who wouldn’t stay put, and the staff were so nice and helpful. And the place is stunning!”

“The food was delicious. I ordered the rib eye and had the caramel creme for dessert which was incredible! The staff were also very friendly and helpful. We had “Sam” serve us and he was such a delight. 10/10 throughout”
“I was in the area for the week and had dinner/lunch here three times. The food is fantastic and the Guinness is top notch - and the staff are also very helpful and friendly!”
“This place is gorgeous. I was there for a meeting so can’t comment on food or drink but the grounds alone are reason enough to go. Would certainly like to stay the night on my next visit. There is ample car parking here. Would recommend driving as it is in a rural spot.”
“First visit back for a couple of months and greeted by Armando like long lost friends. As per usual the food and service were superb. The new Hake was sublime and my wife enjoyed her beef cheek. Delighted to see our favourite waitress Sophie has returned. All in all a perfect evening. Thank you Team Cote.”
“What a lovely find! We have been meaning to try this restaurant for quite a while and finally got there to celebrate my birthday. The food was absolutely delicious, fresh and clearly homemade. The team were so friendly and attentive. We got to sit on the roof terrace which was great, really lovely atmosphere, just a shame it was not more busy, as it really is a great find!”
“Definitely a unique experience. Been there only once for breakfast. Not only were the staff kind and courteous, they were very quick with service and I was able to pay easily for my food and drink. Not to mention they had some foods I'd never even heard of, and new pasta shapes. It was kind of relaxing, just sitting and enjoying a simple brownie and a cup of tea. Would definitely recommend for you early birds.”
“Will be back - food amazing and beer clean and delicious. Love the saag mushroom and want it as I am writing this”

“Alto Lounge is one of my favourite locations to enjoy a good breakfast and a lovely cup of coffee. It's always spot on and the lovely people working here make sure you are always having a good experience. We asked for substitutions, they've done it. We asked for recommendations, they've provided extensive info. They checked on us to make sure everything is top. Can't fault them. Thank you very much for everything you do!”
“An absolute gem of a spot, authentic in terms of food and atmosphere. A good variety of halal/veg options as well. The roast duck was especially good, perfectly cooked with a nice crispy skin. Highly recommend. I'm looking forward to being back soon.”
“The Volunteer is a traditional pub in the heart of Theale, Berkshire. It has a warm and inviting atmosphere, with exposed brickwork and a traditional fireplace. The menu features a wide variety of pub classics, as well as some more modern dishes. We started our meal with sticky pigs in blankets. These were perfectly cooked and the sausages were juicy and flavorful. For our main courses, I had the chicken curry and my partner had the steak and ale pie. Both dishes were delicious. The chicken curry was rich and flavorful, and the steak and ale pie was hearty and filling. The service at The Volunteer was excellent. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he made sure that we had everything we needed. We also enjoyed the selection of beers on tap. Overall, we had a great experience at The Volunteer. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. We would definitely recommend this pub to anyone looking for a great meal in Theale. Here are some additional details about the dishes we ordered: * Sticky pigs in blankets: These were made with pork sausages wrapped in bacon and cooked until golden brown. * Chicken curry: This was a rich and flavorful curry made with chicken, onions, peppers, and spices. It was served with rice and naan bread. * Steak and ale pie: This was a hearty and filling pie made with steak, onions, mushrooms, and ale. It was served with fries and peas. Polly our waitress was very friendly and helpful, she is a credit to the pub. Great atmosphere.”
“Lovely lunch. A hidden away place. Menu has almost all gluten-free options. Had risotto for starter, followed by steak and finished off with cheesecake. All perfectly done, especially the risotto which was fantastic. Highly recommended for anyone in the area”
“Excellent service and the food was amazing! The restaurant is spacious, beautifully presented with a cosy log fire. Staff friendly, helpful and accommodating. Thank you for making our 40th Birthday meal so special - we loved it!”
“What a beautiful place. Food was stunning. Becca our waitress was amazing. She was so helpful. Constantly coming to check if we needed anything as there was 13 of us. Definitely will return when we are in the area next.”
“Love this place ! Always looking forward to have a glass of wine or wine tasting ! Customer service is amazing, you feel welcomed from the moment you step in. I had several wine tasting experiences and loved them all. Highly recommend this place !”

“If your looking for great pub grub in Reading this is the place to go. The Asian food is the highlight of the menu. We tried the crispy chilli beef which was delicious. My short rib green curry was the best Thai curry I've had. Will definitely be going back to try the other dishes.”
“Boy, this diner took me back. Simple, inexpensive and efficient. Monster Full English was just that. Choice of tomato or beans, mug o’builders tea or coffee. All very generic but well cooked and served with care and a smile. Good, old-fashioned breakfast in a classic Greasy Spoon location on a main roundabout just over the river from Caversham High Street. Great when you’re in the mood.”
“Amazing Saucy Spinach Eggs and Bloody Mary for Sunday Brunch, excellent portion sizes too! Tried a side of french black pudding, that we will defo have again too.”
“Came here for a meal with friends and was very impressed. The restaurant is light and airy with a lovely atmosphere. The staff were very attentive and had great service. The menu is very varied, although there is a limited vegetarian menu. The food was delicious and very well cooked!”
“The food and drinks were great, and the staff were so warm and friendly. I unfortunately became unwell during my visit, but the team were absolutely amazing in looking after me. I really appreciated their kindness and care — so sorry again about the mess! Thank you all for being so understanding and wonderful.”
