“Can’t comment on the hotel but just had Sunday lunch, we got the platter for 2 and the portion is amazing! Could have easily fed 3 people. Beef was a little too well done for me (that’s just personal preference) but they’ll chicken was well seasoned and the pork belly melted in your mouth! Amazing service from Simon and the team! Always happy to help and nothings too much trouble!”

“Stayed here on Sunday the 3rd of August and was pleasantly surprised, a very clean establishment. Newly owned by a lovely bunch of Indians who were overly welcoming as soon as we arrived. The service is impeccable and the prices are unbeatable. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are top quality which for us is key. I mentioned to a member of staff about how great it smelt in the restaurant area baring in mind this is at 9pm on a Sunday night and he goes on to tell me it's the kashmir style chicken I can smell and offered to make me 1, at first I refused because of the time but he then insisted it was fine so although I'd already snacked earlier I decided to try 1. Well again pleasantly surprised. Fresh and delicious packed with flavour. As far as value goes this is the place to stay! Don't believe me ? Come see for yourself. Please don't come expecting a full menu as of yet as they are newly established so it's very very limited but if you trust a recommendation you'll love it. You won't get a pie or fish and chips here so if that's what your after your surrounded by other establishments that will happily accommodate your needs whilst spending only 48 quid on a room here!!!!”

“We recently stayed at the Hop Pole Hotel and it was excellent. We had two double rooms and a single room I was in the single and the room was clean, beautifully decorated, the bed very comfortable and the bathroom very spacious and modern. The decor of the hotel fits in well with the building. The staff were friendly and helpful. Compliments to the chef as the breakfasts and evening meals were superb. Everybody was really friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I would definately stay here again and bring my husband and son as they do family rooms. Thank you for a wonderful stay, I will be back.”

“Clean and spacious room and bathroom. As is pretty standard now most of the sockets in the room have built in USB chargers, so just being a USB cable with you to charge your phone. Not sure if it was due to the current fuel prices, but it was nice that for once the room wasn't overbearingly hot on arrival. Only downside was that check-in was very slow, it took almost 30 mins (arrived just behind another group).”

“Really pleased with the hotel. Clean, and the staff are amazing. 3 days we have stayed here due to unfortunate circumstances, but the stay is excellent. Elina, the lady who checked us in, has only been here a couple of weeks, but she is superb. Really patient and friendly. She is on for the future. Perfect!”

“We had our wedding in The Sherwood Suite On Friday 28th November We had the most fantastic day. Our coordinator Charlotte made sure every detail was perfect. Before the wedding we sent several emails to Charlotte changing things asking questions and nothing was too much trouble for her. The day went so lovely and smooth from the ceremony to the final evening buffet. All the team was so friendly and professional. All of the food was delicious we had so many good comments from our guests. Also a special mention to the DJ the music was perfect Can definitely recommend Wildes it was certainly a day to remember always Thank you so much Mr & Mrs Elizabeth & John Gash”

“Traveling back from the Dordogne France. We had our touring caravan with us, and 2 dogs. We parked up in the car park, very tired nearly 12 midnight. My husband went to speak to the travel lodge to see if we could spend the night. The gentleman was very pleasant. We spent the night in the caravan it was very quite. I would highly recommend this place. The cost was £15. Thank you”

From the moment I arrived, the atmosphere was warm, festive, and incredibly welcoming. A special shout-out goes to Holly on reception, who was absolutely outstanding. Her friendliness and professionalism truly set the tone for the entire visit. The Christmas party itself was brilliant—great food, lively entertainment, and a lovely festive setup. “Stopped off here for a night while driving from up north to down south. Really good hotel, staff were friendly, the rooms were clean and spacious. The bathroom was plenty large and the atmosphere of the hotel was very comfortable. Very good breakfast with a nice restaurant area. Great location with a Morrisons across the road, easy access to the motorway and Rotherham only a few minutes drive down the road. Really good price and value for money, especially if you sign up to the free Ibis/Accor membership for members prices. Would recommend!”

“Stayed here for one night . Everything you need for a budget stay. Location not central however staff very helpful . Rooms were great for the price Large rooms . Extra services ie hairdryer and ironing board . No bar and lift was broken didn't cause us an issue but as we on third floor would have been a problem if you had mobility issues Overall a good size room and clean Good value for money”

“Truly excellent stay, great value for money the hotel is perfectly situated at the end of the high street so plenty of shops and places to eat nearby. The property is well maintained and beautifully clean. Retford is a cracking little town. Room came with a fan, only real downside is that the room was warm due to no air conditioning however we visited peak of summer.”

“Just for the carvery Amazing price (£11.99 at time of writing), with very well cooked meats (pork, lamb, beef) and excellent extras. Cauliflower cheese and mash got best reception with our family. Super service, friendly staff and lovely setting. Other customers were really friendly too, so s great atmosphere. Unbelievable price for a jug of Pimm's too!! (See pics)”

“We stayed on 1st November to 2nd November, with our little dog Jack. We went out for a couple of hours and the evening reception staff where kind enough to look after Jack in reception. I am also vegan and they only supplied cows milk in the room. They were kind enough to give me a small jug of soya milk. The room was nice. It had an iron and ironing board, which was lovely.”
