“Went for Sunday lunch. I've been meaning to try it out and wasn't disappointed. I had the beef cheeks (special of the day) which were melt in the mouth. The portions are very generous with a separate boat of gravy to go with the mushroom and ale sauce it came with. The service was top notch and the beer (Thornbridge Jaipur) was just the right pint to go with the meal. My partner had the turkey roast with a glass of red which she really enjoyed. We will visit again. Can't recommend highly enough. I'd suggest phoning in advance since we had the choice of getting there in 10 or waiting until after 3 to eat.”

“This place was definitely worth the visit. I had the fish option, my partner had the meat and our 3 year old just had the buffet (free for under 5s anyway). Good range of food, the fish plate( you just get the one plate, then you can choose from the buffet) was really good! And the meat comes round and you say if you want that one or not, my partner said it was some of the best meat he has had! We will be visiting again!!”

“First time visiting here. Absolutely beautiful food, all cooked to everyones taste. A wide range of meats which didn't seem to stop coming to the table! We sampled a few drinks from the cocktail menu which were also really nice. A few had dessert and all the cheesecakes were gorgeous. All the staff were really polite and friendly and were really welcoming. Will definitely be revisiting!”

“This pub is in a good location with a nice setting right in the gateway of the peak district. The Sunday roast and the dessert here was spot on, and the service is good and friendly. From the dining area, there is a pleasant view overlooking the surrounding scenery despite the carpark. Parking here isn't an issue, as the carpark is opposite and has plenty of space. There is also a play area and outdoor seating leading up the stairway to the entrance, with additional benches in the carpark.”

“This was a gift and we chose the shorter lunch option as we didn't have experience of tasting menus. The service was very friendly and welcoming, not intimidating at all. All the menu was explained but not in excessive detail. I had the wine pairing which was well worth it with 2 English wines included. I think this was a good value menu for the amount of detail in the cooking and number of courses . The alcohol menu is also extensive and not over priced.”

“Wow wow wow!!!! This review just won’t be enough to explain how “out of this world”our experience was at Vero Gusto. One of the servers (a lady from Sicily) was so chatty and funny, actually all of the servers were amazing and chatty. Saverio kept coming and topping our water up and checking everything was okay and constantly making sure we were happy and enjoying ourselves. Ester who is the chef is one amazing lady, the food was out of this world honestly. You definitely get what you pay for here and I would recommend it to anyone. We’ve not been on a “date night” in a long time but we are going to make sure we do it more often and come to Vero Gusto. Thank you so much guys and well done! Emma and Isaac.x”

“A great find for us wanting a basic comfy bed for the night in the city centre. Many thanks to the very helpful and friendly barman who welcomed us, explained how the rooms were accessed and served a great bitter. We parked in the NCP around the corner £11 for 24hrs. No food served, there is a coffee shop opposite but as there was complimentary tea and coffee in the bedroom and we were heading for a function we didn't try it.”

“Cosy micro-pub, nicely and quirkily decorated one-room bar with a good selection of real ales. Very popular on the early April Friday night we visited, and a lot warmer once the front door was shut. We stayed for several beers then went across the road to Maranello's Italian Restaurant (also excellent).”

“Lovely micropub with plenty of cask,draft,can and bottled beers to choose from. Sit back and relax outside on the platform and watch the trains and people rush by. Excellent. Friendly staff and good prices. Good range of Bar snacks available. Excellently and sympathetically restored interior of the old station buffet, which before these guys was relegated to a dilapidated store room after the buffet was shut by British Rail in the early 1990's or there abouts. Will certainly be back. *hopefully those screens on the bar are taken down soon as you have to go to the side of them anyway to get the beer or speak properly to the bartender :)”

“Extremely generous portions. Beautifully freshly prepared traditional Greek Fayre. I had the Minotaur breakfast and other than being slightly overfaced by the sheer size of my breakfast I absolutely loved it !!! The warm, fresh humous was the best I’ve ever tasted!!!”

“What amazing food! We did have to wait quite a while for our orders but everything seemed to have been made fresh from scratch, so no complaint there. Meals were very fairly priced. I'm lactose intolerant and when asked if there was a dairy-free cappuccino, he said he had dairy-free milk of his own so he would use that if necessary. The cappuccino was great and the servers couldn't do enough for you. I will definitely be wating here again.”

Think fine dining for some, but without unnecessary faff and with more accessible dishes on the menu. The service is friendly and classy - we’d visit more if we were closer.”

“Had an amazing night at the Riverside House Hotel. The service was impeccable, the food delicious and the rooms comfortable. We stayed in the Rafters room which was well equipped and extremely stylish, with a fantastic ensuite which had jack and jill basins and a roll top bath. Overall this place is absolutely awesome, it's a little on the pricey side (for us normal folk!), however as a special treat I think it is well worth the money. Will definitely be back again!”
