“Fantastic! My husband and I ate here Saturday night and went back today for a Sunday roast. We both had the skate Saturday which was the best I’ve ever had. Really large portions and cooked to perfection. The beef roast today was also fantastic. Huge portion again and really delicious. Staff were really friendly, taking time to chat with people and made to feel very welcomed. Would definitely recommend.”
“Mayflower Park is a very nice park on the eastern bank of the River Test. It is located between the passenger and cargo terminals of the Port of Southampton, and is near the confluence of the rivers Test and Itchen (which together form Southampton Water, which the drains into the Solent in front of the Isle of Wight, and then into the English Channel). The river bank offers spectacular views of the dawn and dusk skies just as the sun sets over the cargo terminal. From time to time, you may even see huge container ships docking at the terminal, which is a spectacle in itself. Looking far enough towards the south, where Southampton Water drains into the Solent, you can see Fawley Refinery, the biggest oil refinery in the UK (I once caught one of the many chimney towers spewing out flames from various gases, and they looked lovely from the distance). There are even ducks that occasionally swim near the bank. Sometimes there may be events taking place on the Mayflower Park that may cause a little bit of noise. When I’m writing this review, the Continental Circus Berlin had a few shows over the course of about 2 or 3 weeks, and the noise was noticeable even near the river bank (even with the large circus tent positioned a few hundred feet away from the bank). And the actual river bank, complete with benches for you to sit on, is rather annoyingly occupied by a car park (but I think it makes sense, because the site of Mayflower Park used to be occupied by a large warehouse/building for commercial purposes - do let me know if you know additional details). Overall, though, Mayflower Park is a wonderful park with a huge grassy area if you want a nice little picnic, or if you just want to sit by the river and let your mind get carried away by the beautiful scenery or the ships. Happy visiting!”
“Lovely walk along the river on tarmac paths so suitable for disabled or reduced mobility. Excellent for joggers and walkers alike. Lots of open green spaces for children and dogs. Usually an ice cream van or two around as well. Very popular so parking can be an issue at busy times.”

“Good local Chinese, foods nice and appropriately priced, easy communication and can pay by card on the phone. Was meant to be around 45 min wait took an hour, food was still hot so no concerns.”
“Best Indian restaurant I've come across in Southampton! Service was quick and the staff were friendly. There's a wide range of dishes available, and all the ones we've tried have been amazing.”
“Booked tickets to see Josh Widdecombe at the Pavilion. Between buying them and the night of seeing Josh I’d had an accident which made going upstairs to our seats quite unachievable. Spoke to the lovely Katherine there and she managed to put us in seats on ground level. Amazing night and I met Josh so my year of pain was well worth it especially as I came so close to not going.”
“This shop is a fantastic addition to the Highstreet! You won't see me in a t-shirt that isn't from here; they're great quality, a perfect fit, and I absolutely love the designs. As someone who quite likes beachy summer clothes, I really can't complain. The staff are also absolutely lovely and really helpful”
“Wonderful time here. My kids aged 10 and 8 absolutely loved it. So much to look at and get stuck into. They particularly liked the space section downstairs. The show is worth the extra £4 . Exciting and educational for everyone and has the wow factor. Car park is free which is really good, felt the tickets were a little on the high side but still enjoyed the experience and would visit again”
“Best Chinese I’ve had in the whole of Winchester. Great sized portions and reasonably priced.”
“Watergate ruin which was built in the 14th Century was the main entrance for collecting taxes & for goods coming in & out. It was part of the 1 mile walls which surrounded Southampton town.”
“A very good place to watch the world go by on the Hamble River, some great views. A great place to walk the dog.”
“Recently went to the Splashdown Poole and it is a fantastic waterpark, which has a mix of indoor and outdoor attractions. It’s perfect for families, with thrill slides like The Screamer and more relaxed options like the Red River Roller. The park is generally clean but can get busy, especially on weekends and holidays. Lockers are available. they just need a pound coin to use it, and staff are quite friendly. Note that some rides have height restrictions and the children area is closed for refurbishment, so younger children may have limited options, though there are plenty of family-friendly rides.”
“A great place to visit with family, lodges and caravans well equipped. Would recommend a hot tub. Alpaca walk really good and also children's off roading experience. Would recommend the fighting cocks pub for meals and breakfast need to book as gets busy only 10 mins walk and big car park. Lovely walks with free car parks to see horses, deer, ponies”
“Brilliant place to go to with a toddler. Saw a fair few things basking in the sunshine. Then got a map with details of what to look out for from the rspb hut and followed the reptile red trail on 1.5 miles. We spotted ponies and newts on the trail too. And it's all free!!”
“Nice little kiosk selling wide variety of drinks and food. Perfect after a walk along the beach. Great service with friendly staff.”
“Shanghai Bay’s Cantonese dim sum is absolutely top-notch, offering an authentic taste of traditional Cantonese cuisine. My favorite dish is the Fresh King Prawn Cheung Fun (大鮮蝦腸粉)—the rice rolls are silky smooth yet delightfully chewy, and the prawns are impressively large, fresh, and flavorful, far superior to the usual frozen ones. Among other dim sum, I especially love the Prawn Dumplings (鮮蝦餃皇), which are made without fatty pork. The Minced Pork Dumplings with Prawn (鮮蝦蒸燒賣) and Beef Dumplings with Dried Bean Curd (山竹牛肉球) are also excellent. The Fried Dough Cheung Fun (炸兩), featuring crispy Chinese dough sticks wrapped in rice noodle rolls, is wonderfully crunchy, and the mini Glutinous Rice with Meat in Lotus Leaves (迷你珍珠雞) are perfectly portioned and well-seasoned. I would even say that the dim sum here is better than any Cantonese restaurant I’ve tried in London, considering both the quality and size of the dim sum. Everything is freshly steamed to order, arriving at the table piping hot, making it well worth recommending. As for Shanghai dim sum, such as the Shanghai Dumplings with Crab Meat (蟹粉小籠包) and Pan-Fried Pork & Vegetable Buns (香煎菜肉包), they are decent but not particularly outstanding compared to the Cantonese offerings.”
“Best baked pork chop rice with tomato sauce I’ve ever had in UK! The Hong Kong style milk tea is very authentic which cannot be missed. Definitely recommend if you want to try delicious and real Hong Kong style / Cantonese food! The staff is friendly and super helpful as well.”
“We celebrated a special birthday lunch at Bridge Street House on a rainy Thursday lunchtime and so pleased we chose this venue as we enjoyed wonderful cocktails before lunch and then an amazingly tasty lunch which would be hard to find outside of London. The bar and restaurant is very stylish and cosy with very attentive staff and a fabulous drinks and food menu, highly recommended! Make the effort to keep walking down the High Street, past the run of the mill pubs and walk into Bridge Street House, you will not be disappointed.”
“This is my 1st time visiting The White Horse. The food was absolutely beautiful and the cocktail I had was delicious. The staff were all very friendly, polite and very helpful. Megan our waitress was lovely, making sure we had everything we needed for our lunch. We sat and ate at the back of the bar, its was lovely sitting on the window seats. It was lovely and quiet, and peaceful. The best way to enjoy lunch.”
“Take away only for some great curries in Millbrook. Ask for 2 poppadoms and usually you'll get 3 and some times I find a nan bread that I didn't order. I like his curries which set a standard for others to follow.”
“decided on this place as a random date night, and in my opinion; it’s an even better nandos. we were served our food within 15 minutes of arrival, catered to all our needs and it was absolutely delicious. priced well for what you get, it was £13 for 1/4 chicken, 3 wings fried and a drink!! would recommend this !!”
“A very high quality lamb biriani, everything lovely and fresh. Very generous portions, too, plenty of meat - good to see... I’m quite fussy with food, particularly with Indian cuisine but these guys are my new favourites! I absolutely recommend. If you’re stuck for choosing, I do suggest the lamb biriani - thank me later! Top marks and thank you for such a great takeaway! Boom.”
“Food that I ordered every time from here is amazing! The kebab! Arrrrrgh! So good! Seriously this is the best kebab I have ever had. It's not oily, the salad was fresh and the meat was cooked to perfection. Would 100% recommend. The lunch time kebab meat and chips is the best meal i ever had. Their pizzas are also better than all of the big brands with loads more topping and at a low price. Try this place and I gaurantee you will go back. Good food, Good price, Good service, see you again.”
“Grown up around this lake, slowly getting better as nature intended for the location and history of the Lake. All good rounder not just for fishing and walks but outdoors camping... But please look after your surroundings and take rubbish to the bins provided!”
“Lovely cafe and nice clean toilets”
“My absolute favourite Chinese takeaway! Have been ordering from there pretty much my whole life! They put so much love into making these dishes so that we can get the full experience of joy!”
“We had a wonderful afternoon at Adventure Wonderland. The rides were really fun and my 3 year old had an awesome time as well as us adults. The petting zoo and horse/pony rides was really great value for money and the staff were really friendly and patient. We grabbed some lunch which was nice, and what you'd expect. The maze was really fun and we had a good time navigating our way out. My toddler really enjoyed the ride on tractors (make sure you have plenty of change with you!) some of the park is a little outdated but overall, was incredibly impressed with the activities on offer. Would highly recommend”
“this was our first visit to Harpers steak house in Southampton and we were not disappointed! From the ease of booking online to receiving the bill at the end everything was exceptional! The staff member, Driton was extremely friendly and welcoming, making us feel at ease as soon as we arrived. The food was absolutely delicious, one of the best steaks we have had in a restaurant in a long time! Not only that but each course came out quickly, was a good portion size and hot! We would definitely recommend Harpers and will certainly be returning.”
“Went in with family today, the staff were fantastic, super helpful, hot on allergies, allowed me to eat my own food, because like so may restaurants now they use rapeseed oil, which I am allergic to. The rest of my family loved the food, my husband said his burger was one of the best he has tasted. The place has a great atmosphere, despite the very noisy and busy West Quay shopping centre, this was a very relaxing and enjoyable lunch break. The wheelchair access is great, no having to ask people to move, which was fabulous. Can't fault the staff or the food, would recommend this place to anyone. And the fact that I could eat my own food, rather than just sit with my coffee and watch everyone else eat, was absolutely brilliant. It would be better if food places throughout the country stopped using rapeseed oil and vegetable oil, and started using animal fats to cook with, then those of us with allergies could enjoy eating out like everyone else.”
