“I think this must be fairly new as I have no recollection of this pub / restaurant. Thomas Paine has strong local connections, unlike Casta and Madge. He helped inspire the American revolutionary war and almost lost his head in the French one. Silly so and so. I had another Harvey's Sussex best bitter. One of three real ales on my visit. Very good. Up steep stairs finds a roof terrace. Must be lovely on a warm sunny day / evening. Free wifi.”

“The fish was superb, moist with a lovely crispy batter. We prefer our chips a bit overdone but these were cooked through and also weren't greasy at all with a light crispy edge to some. One large chips perfect for two. Easy parking across the road, free after 5pm as I checked, and parking in Lewes can be a challenge!”

“The last time I was here was in 2023… for some reason Google doesn’t allow a new review just updates. Anyway I think the restaurant has changed hands recently but the quality of the food was just as good. Had the calamari, fish & chips, fish pie. All tasty and very good value. Could have done with an extra staff member as the poor waiter was running around but all in all just as good as last time (2023) Lovely restaurant with nice staff. Sitting outside in the sun was great even if on a busy road. Calamari was some of the nicest I’ve had in a long time. Dressed crab was fresh & salad accompaniment was lovely. Fish tacos were a big portion & all chips were homemade. 2starts 2 mains and a bottle of wine for just under £70. Excellent”

“We decided to enjoy a roast at The Egremont and were lucky to arrive early enough to get the last table before they filled up with 100 pre booked roast dinners I ordered the lamb shank, while my friend chose beef, both served with crispy roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, red cabbage, mashed swede, broccoli, carrots, and parsnips—much more than we expected! We also shared a giant portion of cauliflower cheese and some massive pigs in blankets, which we affectionately dubbed The Egremont sausage surprise. The food was delicious and plentiful, and I even shared some of the pigs in blankets with the neighboring table, & bought some food home - If you plan to go, I recommend making a reservation! “We had a really lovely experience at Carne last night. The atmosphere is great; it’s warm and cosy but with enough space between tables to give it a romantic feel. The service was brilliant and the food was amazing. We had the filet steak as well as the tartar and the prawns to start. Everything was fabulous with great flavours and the steak was cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend for either a date night or a night out with friends. We loved it.”

“Ok. Let’s start saying that I went to this place with very little expectation to find Sicilian street food, contrary wise this place exceeded my expectations. A precious little place in duke street that stand out for all the competitors in the street. I went safe for coffee and cake and it was ever so good that I decided to have an arancino al pistacchio after, and I was literally transported to Sicily with the flavours of the food. At the exit I managed to compliment myself with Davide the owner of the place, which was exquisite. His passion is clearly expressed into the food and the attention to details. I would not hesitate to come back for a coffee and cake, quick or long lunch, an aperitivo or a nice traditional unique Sicilian meal out. Ideal for everyone, from kids to adult and wheelchair friendly with ground floor access and tables. The unpretentiousness of this place makes it ideal for a solo meal as well as a romantic date to impress. Sicilian typical product also available to buy at the counter....not to be missed the “Crema al pistacchio”. In conclusion, this place is a must go either if you are Italian or not, and you will easily spot why is second to none. So far the best “arancini” in Brighton.”

“You can't come to Brighton without visiting this iconic hotel. We sat in the bar and had an afternoon snack. BLT | Toasted bread, streaky bacon. gem luttuce. homemade £14. Smoked salmon & tiger prawn. iceburg lettuce, avocado. lemon. £16. And two pots of tea. Thought the prices were quite reasonable for such an impressive hotel. The service was good and we especially like it here as you can sit with your dogs.”

“We stopped in here for a quick bite to eat. They have a self service kiosk where you can browse the menu, order and pay for your food. I found this really convenient. I ordered the loaded chilli fries which tasted really good. The fruits were light and fluffy sand the hot sauce had a kick to it. We didn't have to wait long for our food and we would eat here again.”

“So I went here after checking out the reviews and boy was I very pleased that I did. I ordered online via the app which is very easy to navigate and arrived 20 minutes later and took a seat to wait for the food, which wasn't too long. You can eat in here or take away, but as you can see from the photos the place is immaculate and the tables are laid out well (not too many so it's cramped, the perfect amount) Whilst waiting I checked out the drinks menu and we also got a Nutella and Oreo milkshake which was delicious. I ordered the double Joe's burger with the dirty fries and I have to say it's one of the best burgers and chips I've had in a long time. The burger was lovely and juicy but the great thing was that it wasn't greasy so it didn't make the bun soggy. The bun was a lovely soft brioche bun with sesame seeds on top. The dirty fries were very good and came with cheese, bacon and some seasoning which was delicious. The food packaging is really nicely and you can tell that they've invested a lot of effort to make it look really good. The staff were really friendly. Although a bit pricier than some places but you pay for what you get and the quality was extremely good. I really recommend the place and if you able to get there it's definitely worth a visit and you will not be disappointed.”

“I called in to see if they could help me remove my old car stereo as I needed special tools which I didn't have. I had already been turned away from a similar shop in Coventry as it was a Ford issued sat nav stereo which they didn't want to touch. The guys couldnt of been more helpful if they tried top service and gave me some good honest advice regarding possible upgrades. I will deffo be returning for anything else I might need.
