“My partner and I booked a stay here in September 2024 for his birthday weekend. From the initial phone call I was impressed with how accommodating they were. I have various dietary needs and usually going away anywhere is quite stressful, however the staff here put my mind at ease immediately. They had multiple options for me to eat at breakfast and the evening meal we had was delicious! In hindsight we should have eaten here on both evenings as the food is amazing! The room was lovely, warm, clean and nicely decorated. The hotel location is perfect for walking through Tintern itself and equally for a short drive to Chepstow. The staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to make our stay memorable. Grace was very attentive, always checking in to reassure me about my food choices and to check that we were happy with everything. We would love to stay here again, perhaps with more time to explore further afield this time!”

“Just wanted to say what a fantastic place !!! We were staying at Cheddar Woods for the weekend and popped out to meet friends to raise a glass for my daughters 21st ... we all like cider so seemed like it was the place for us :) ..... Really cosy and quirky place .... warm fire ... the lushest dogs .... Staff & regular's all made us feel welcome and our pet dog Eve loved it too .... Had fab pizza's and burgers - timed it wrong as had to leave just before live music started! Will definitely return and 100% recommend ... wish we had a local like this .... Thank you for your hospitality :)”

“Great, quirky local pub. Eclectic decor, often a DJ in amongst the crowd. Can be quite noisy so not always the best place for a ‘quiet’ chat. Good live music from time to time too.”

“Pretty decent food for a good price, I had a milkshake and burger. The chips were fantastic and so was the milkshake! The burger was decent too. The main takeaway from eating here was the atmosphere was really quite nice in my opinion. It was busy and the decor was awesome! The service was decent but the kitchen is quite small so food did take some time to come out. But if your not in a rush its worth a visit.”

“Lovely little pub in a sleepy village on the outskirts of Bath. My partner and I stayed for one night and it felt really homely and comfortable. The staff were friendly and attentive and the room was spacious, clean, and cozy. The bed was so comfy too! Highly recommend for anyone visiting the area.”

“Very nice place for breakfast. Plenty of seats, interesting interior design, feels nice and warm. Reasonable price for a big portion. We really enjoyed the food and coffee. “Completely forgot about this place until I was driving through Widcombe the other day and it popped into my brain. Was happy to see the place still as it was. The burgers the chicken, the chips and the milkshake are all 10 out of 10 in my opinion. not eaten here for years, and it's just as good as I remember!! Highly recommended!!!”

“We had our annual family Christmas meal here over the weekend, and they looked after our group wonderfully. We were a big group of 25 but nothing was too much hassle. Great, reasonably priced food, nice atmosphere (and customers!) and friendly staff. Johan and his team looked after us so well and everyone had a great time. Thanks for having us & we’ll be back!”

“We were able to agree exclusive use of the restaurant/ conservatory for our family wedding reception on Saturday. The team at the Rising Sun were very helpful with the arrangements and helped set up the conservatory according to our seating plan. A family friend arrived early to decorate the room and it looked lovely. We had to pre order our food,but that meant we all got to choose exactly what we wanted. So much better than a set menu. All the good arrived on time, was hot and tasty, with generous portions. Huge portions of pudding were gratefully received. Thank you to the team at the Rising Sun for helping make our wedding day so special. Best of all, for many of us, it was a short walk home! “I definitely recommend this place! The size of the burger is very generous and the ingredients are fresh and tasty! The man behind the counter is very sweet and warm with the customers, he even offered me a free cheese sauce for my fries and they have a very beautiful atmosphere in the dining area. It’s a must try if you are in the Bristol area! In the picture you can see the avocado burger with chicken and I loved it.”
