“Nartnapa was a wonderful find! My friend and I were staying the night just next to the restaurant, at Sunny Lyn Holiday Park, while hiking the South West Coast Path. Having walked 20 miles that day, we didn't want to have to walk down (and up again) the big hill into Lynmouth, so we took a chance and popped our heads in at Nartnapa to see if they could fit us in for dinner that night. We were greeted with smiling faces and confirmation that they could seat us. The ambience was happy yet calm, with lots of other satisfied customers already enjoying their food. Our meals were delicious (prawn green curry and pad Thai), and the sticky toffee puddings afterwards really hit the spot. This restaurant is more than just "convenient if staying at Sunny Lyn" - it would be worth a special trip just to enjoy the menu and friendly service.”

“Our very first experience of rock climbing and we had an absolute amazing time, me and my 8 year old son had no previous experience my son was given an introduction which he loved! Our friend who is a qualified climber/instructor met us there and stayed with us both until we left 4hours later we will definitely be back! We had so much fun highly recommended”

“Fab location. Would recommend this property. Hadnt realised upon booking that the rooms were not en-suite but there are so many bathroom facilities/showers available (which were all spotlessly clean) it really wasnt an issue. the continental breakfast was also an added bonus.”

“A very convenient spot to stay for a solo traveller, close to town and in a friendly part of the city. Great service by the host, couldn't have been any friendlier and warm, and the room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Also, the value for money is impeccable, I'd certainly recommend this place, and I look forward to returning!”

“this was a lovely place to stay in barry island. it’s in a convenient location right next to the train station and not far from the beach. the rooms were lovely and clean and accommodating with a tv with ITVX so we could tuck in and watch love island without any ads, which ended our night perfectly. the beds were super comfy it felt like i was sleeping on a cloud. the next morning we were greeted by Lyndon who made an excellent breakfast (all included in the price) and was very welcoming throughout our stay. we would highly recommend staying here if you are visiting barry island due to its convenient location and the b&b’s amazing hospitality. we will be sure to stay here again if we’re ever in barry island.”

Perfect location, very short walk to seafront but enough that it was peaceful. Fantastic view from our room too! Clean and modern room with homely/historic feel throughout rest of hotel. “This was a superb hotel for a two night stay during carnival weekend, where me and my friend were given a family room since this was the only one available! Price was solid for such a busy period and the size gives much space for storage especially across different tables, sofa is handy for this as well as relaxing on of course. The beds were tidy and very comfortable for sleeping after nights out, location is only about five minutes from the main clubbing district so getting back was easy and personal safety is high in its area! Shower had a proper size and bathroom had everything working reliably, kettle was provided with free hot chocolates too as I was very appreciative of. The city frame on the wall and plants are welcoming, manager was highly friendly as he explained how the keys system worked for us to be able to get back at anytime!”

“We recently celebrated our wedding at Batch and had the most wonderful time from start to finish. Planning, organising, and experiencing the day was made as smooth as possible with their wonderful team. The rooms were comfortable for all of our guest. The food and drinks were delightful and dietary requirements were catered to seamlessly. The grounds are beautiful and there was even a nesting swan on the river bank.”

“These are great cottages with some great gardens. There is a small walk down to the beach nearby. The cottages are peaceful and quiet a great place to go for a relax. Easy to get around from this base point.”

“Always eat here when I’m back in the area to see family. Been going here since I was a very young. Changed hands a few times. These owners are exceptional and are exceptionally good at running the pub. Honest food at reasonable prices. Without a doubt one of best pubs serving food . Always busy. Friendly service. Dogs welcome. Hard to beat.”

“Recently refurbished, excellent service and freshly cooked food served from the kitchen - hence the extra wait that we're not normally accustomed to. But it's well worth it because everything is prepared by the chef, and the triple cooked chips are a real delight.”

“Great little find! We followed the signs on the main road and was hoping for a homely pub. This pub was exactly that! Friendly staff, Great food and exactly what we needed after a long day being tourists around barry island and cardiff! Would highly recommend.”

“Pros: The rooms and breakfast (which you preorder) are excellent value for money. The facilities are also excellent. Very clean inside and plenty of fresh linen from the maid if you require. Lots of food and drink places within a few minutes walk. (The Four Elms is a great pub.) Cons: Our room (6) was on the top floor with no lift. It was small but nice. There is no good view from the dormer window. The parking was OK but I didn't like leaving my car there, as there was evidence that other cars had been broken into. I took off one star from location for this reason only.”

“We had a wonderful and comfortable stay here. Positives are location, comfort and the service and staff. We were able to drop our luggage to the hotel before check-in and leave it there after check-out whilst we enjoyed the vast shops of Cardiff town. The breakfast was delicious too. The only negative- we were unable to book the restaurant for dinner. The only available time was 9pm and this was when trying to book before 5pm. We were offered to sit and eat from the bar menu, however we found the music too loud to hold a conversation and the table size not suitable to sit comfortably with a meal. We therefore ordered room service. This was delivered quicker than anticipated but was tepid, the sprouts were extremely soft/soggy, the parsnips and potatoes dried out and the Turkey was dry too. That said, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. Overall, I loved it.”

“My husband and I stayed overnight on a Tuesday evening. The experience was lovely, the hotel is charming and has a great atmosphere of a beautiful home. The greeting upon arrival by Charles (we think) was friendly and helpful as was our departure the next day by a lovely efficient young lady. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - there were a few light bulbs not working in our room but nothing that detracted. The bed was super cosy and comfy. We had a delicious evening meal, and a lovely breakfast before we departed. Long may owner run hotels survive. Super impressed, keep up the good work. Thanks for a great stay. Mr & Mrs Chase.”

“Came for the carnival and stayed for the weekend. What can I say about this guest house? WONDERFUL! Gwen, the owner, is very friendly and accommodating. Service with a smile and very attentive. Our room, a triple with ensuite, was lovely. A very bright, airy room, well kept and clean. The ensuite was cosy and very clean. Furnishing was to a high standard, and we had good nights sleep. We enjoyed our stay so much that we have already booked a room for next year!”

“Beautiful place to stay. Surrounded by sheep and fields, a quaint farm cottage to stay in which is really accessible to the local area for exploring. Kitchen had a nespresso, toaster and kettle and everything you need. The garden was immaculate as well. The owners were welcoming and left us to enjoy the stay in their peaceful farmhouse setting.”

“I had the loveliest experience at this vineyard – it’s an absolute hidden gem! The setting is stunning, with peaceful vineyard views that made the whole visit feel like a little escape. The food was just as beautiful as the surroundings – fresh, vibrant, and clearly made with care. Every dish was thoughtfully presented and paired so well with their wines. You can really tell they take pride in what they serve.”
