“Got lunch here before walking up to see the highland coos, and it was a very pleasant surprise. The staff were extremely helpful, kind and friendly; the atmosphere was nice and relaxed with great views all around. And the food - the risotto was quite good but the highlight was the dairy-free almond cake, which was one of the best cakes I've ever eaten, and I've had a lot! Whoever made the cream on that cake deserves eternal happiness; it melted in my mouth and was absolutely divine.”

“We enjoyed a wonderful tea in the bistro today following my mother's funeral. We received so many comments on the generosity of portions and lovely fresh food on offer from everyone who attended the tea. The food was delicious and obviously lovingly prepared and the serving staff were very attentive and very friendly. Well done to all!!!”

“This place is fantastic!!! Take away the view, and it’s a fantastic pub/restaurant. The menu is to die for and the beers are incredible! Best place I’ve ever eaten! “I hadn't been there before and went with a friend for breakfast after quite a heavy night. We had the full Scottish breakfast in the skillet. You could tell everything was proper food and not cheap. I can eat but just managed the portion.”

“I love this gorgeous restaurant. I feel sad I didn’t discover this place while at university in Edinburgh but I have now for a few years. Every single visit has been perfect. Last night, my Uni friends and I had dinner there and the food and drinks were delicious as always. The staff were fantastic and so relaxed and attentive. “The cafe was lovely, atmosphere and decor felt inviting. The staff were always smiling quick and ready to help. The food is was and always will some of the best fish and chips I've eaten. Not exaggerating. If I was from the area I would certainly be eating regularly however I'll have to wait for my next holiday. 10/10 and some more, don't pass by without trying.”

“Went for the Sunday roast hear lots about it. What can i say the meat cooked perfectly, crunchy potatoes soft inside..with percent carrots and a wee treat cheesy cauliflower.we shared sticky toffee..yummy lush custard to...luca was so kind and attentve as was Frida I think was her name..highly recommend here.. great staff, fabulous food at a great price.. Then a wee drink and chat in the bar. A really great afternoon”

“My wife and I had lunch here during a visit to Dalkieth Country Park. The restaurant has glass walls so the view to the park is great. The staff are friendly and pleasantly attentive. The menu has a good level of choice. Our meals were hot and freshly prepared. We sat and enjoyed our food and the views before heading off for a long walk through the park. Great”

“Hello, I am Thailand I came to try your food. It was very delicious and I am sorry that I came when the restaurant was about to close. Although the food took a while to wait and the price may be a bit expensive. For THB currency converted to GBP currency, all the staff were very nice and provided good service. It was the first time I ate French food and loved it very much. Next time I will come back to eat again.”

“Really good food and great value for money for a 3-course lunch! The French onion soup with the steak frites and chocolate mouse dessert is so delicious, I could literally eat everyday if I had the money lol The atmosphere is so nice with the dimmed lighting and the aesthetic they have going on is really nice. Best spot hands down! Been over 10 times now I’m addicted and have never been disappointed only more impressed every time!”

“Stayed the night as a guest for a wedding that took place at the castle. Gorgeous venue with plenty of history. Spent the evening chatting with other wedding guests in the library bar which was cozy and beautiful. In the morning we went for a stroll out on the grounds which we really enjoyed. Had fun observing the ponies who were grazing in the paddock. Staff were overall very nice. Lovely stay.”

“We truly enjoyed our stay at the Parliament House Hotel. Room was perfect and comfortable and shower and bath was nice, with toiletries and hair dryer provided. We had an upper floor and needed to walk up a few flights of stairs which we didn't mind, but lower floors have direct access to the lifts. The room was clean with coffee and tea and cookies provided. Loved being near Calton hill and the price we very reasonable compared to similar hotels. I would definitely stay here again.”

“Arrived shortly after opening at 10am and taken to a window table beside the bar. Efficient staff, although not over friendly. Excellent menu with a good selection. Prices reasonable and food was fresh and tasty.”

“A real gem of a place too stop and and have a coffee and cake, and watch the world go by. It was my first time visiting Portobello beach. And I’m glad that I found this place too! Staff are really friendly and noting is too much trouble for them. Coffee and cake were amazing.”

“The mushroom fricassée was amazing. It had a very chic delicious flower :). The staff was very friendly and helpful. My friends loved the experience as well. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to fully explore the menu, but I hope we'll make it back soon. Oh, the prices are really good for that area of Edinburgh!”
