“We have just returned home from Thornton Hall after a fabulous wedding anniversary meal. The service, especially from Carl, was delightful. Carl was so lovely and we enjoyed chatting with him and having a few giggles along the way. His attentiveness was just right. We had champagne, oysters and lobster ravioli for starters, the bisque with the ravioli was divine. Then we both had the roast beef Sunday lunch. The beef was perfectly pink, the Yorkshire was lovely and crisp and the beef jus was deep and rich in flavour, it really pulled the meal together. Thanks to the fabulous chefs. I had the lemon meringue pie for dessert and my husband had a cheese board. We shared of course and both were amazing, the meringue on the pie was delicious. We also had fabulous service from another server, we didn’t catch her name sorry but Carl handed us over to her when his shift ended, which a lovely touch. Highly recommend for a special occasion, it was faultless.”

“Beautiful stay again at Thornton Hall hotel. Old school service where customers are valued, the staff are so friendly. Rooms are spotless and so comfortable. Great deals at the moment where you can use the spa as well. The spa is a special place so relaxing. Just love this hotel I have been many times and just feel it gets better with each visit.”

“i visited ego today with a group of 6 friends and we had a lovely time. From the moment we arrived,,the staff were welcoming, attentive and made us feel relaxed. everything ran smoothly and nothing was too much trouble The food was absolutely delicious- everyone at the table loved their dishes and portions were generous. Drinks were great, the atmosphere was lively without being too loud and service friendly and professional. We all said the same thing : we’d definitely come back. A perfect spot for get together with friends. Highly recommend.”

We enjoy their duck every time. They also have a very tasty onion soup. This place has much wider space than it looks from outside. Proper for big group meetings including company dinners.”

The bun was soft yet sturdy enough to hold everything together, and the toppings were fresh and well-balanced, adding texture without overpowering the meat. Every bite felt indulgent but thoughtfully put together. What really elevated the experience was the service from Lauren Howarth. She was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making sure everything was just right without being intrusive. The menu has options for people who may have dietary restrictions and also vegetarian/vegan options are available. There is plenty of space between tables that aids access for wheelchair users and is child friendly with a children's menu. There is also ample parking available either by the cafe or across the road in a free car park.”

“Would definitely recommend this new restaurant in the village after going for the bistro menu and also breakfast a couple of weeks ago. Service was smooth and friendly, good variety of foods and all very high quality. I can definitely recommend the lamb (it melts in the mouth) and the fish and chips, and breakfasts are filling but not greasy at all. The IPA they now stock is beautiful too! They even asked us if we were ready for our next course or if we wanted a little break! Totally worth a visit.”

During my visit, I had the pleasure of enjoying a delicious super food salad with cold salmon, and it did not disappoint. The fresh and healthy ingredients were the perfect complement to the nice view of the lake. Price is also excellent. One of the best things about this restaurant is the convenience of parking, making it easy to visit even if you're driving in. The ambiance of the place is clean and contemporary, with industrial decorations that create a unique and modern atmosphere. The service was friendly and attentive, making me feel welcome and comfortable during my solo lunch. I was able to use my laptop for a while to send some work emails while waiting the food. I appreciated the attention to detail and care that the staff showed in ensuring my dining experience was enjoyable.”
