“Delicious and typical English food”

“Moved away from Sydenham 10 years ago, went back there acouple of Sundays ago. The Alfred hasn't really changed in that time, it has had a lick of paint and clean up (although it was a nice pub beforehand). Spacious, got the TV Sports.......”

“Our family booked The Hammer In Hand for a wake yesterday. Staff were so friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them. Prices were extremely reasonable and the food served was fresh with a great variety of rolls. The whole day was made so much easier with the great service we received from everyone there. Thank you. “Amazing experience for our friend’s birthday lunch. The food was delicious with lots of vegan options and the staff were friendly, attentive and welcoming. Fallon in particular was a wonderful host and made sure we were really well looked after. Would definitely recommend visiting if you’re looking for a genuinely warm and special environment ❤️”

“Really sweet and lively place — I hadn’t been to this pub before the Big Smoke acquired it, but now it seems to have transformed into such a great spot! The food is always good, the staff are super friendly, it’s busy pretty much every night of the week, and it has a lovely beer garden. The Sunday roast was one of the best one I’ve had in a while, and their small plates are also great and worth trying.”

“I always enjoy this characterful, charming pub, and on my latest occasion was delighted to find the presence of two new pub cats, black, and apparently siblings, about 9 months old! The pub is intriguing as has portraits everywhere, interesting decor, and certainly its own atmosphere. I always like chatting to the staff, and on this occasion my visit cheered me up during a bad time. They have some cask ales, nice wines, and an appetising menu at fair prices. I look forward to my next vist to this lovely old boozer.”

“Very good experience, we will repeat once visiti our family in Croydon, hopefully soon. Colors and design of rooms and public spaces are amazing in all details. Lack of elevator can be tricky for someone that is not fit, but probably it's marked in the description. Even if pub was open and Halloween Party on, zero noise in the room, so very good.”

“Great place to get your nails done. The staff are really friendly and professional and mad my short nails look fantastic. I had the Hunky Dory Shellac gel manicure done and I'm very pleased with the result. There's lots of colours to choose from. You can have a drink as you have your nails done and the lattes are really nice. This is the second time I've been here and plan to come back in the future. I'd recommend this place to my friends.”

“As my first casino experience, I had a fantastic time! It felt like I was in a movie and the atmosphere was so unique! I enjoyed my time on the blackjack tables and the cocktail I had on the rooftop bar was delicious. Certainly a great way to spend the evening.”

“Very good value for money. Big rooms with comfortable beds. Location is nice with bars, restaurants and shops nearby. A bit noisy because of traffic and planes, but thats what you get in busy London. It's only 1 hour with public transport to the center of London and just 30 minutes tot Heathrow airport. The staff is kind and helpful. I only used breakfast and the variation an quality was perfect for me.”

“Great location and good family room size. Helpful reception and great parking albeit very tight to get in and out. Only improvement required is a microwave to warm milk for kids as going to the restaurant and seeking help was a bit of a nuisance. Will come again!”

“I had a wonderful stay at this hotel in London. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, always ready to assist with anything I needed. The location is fantastic, with easy access to public transport, nearby attractions, and plenty of conveniences around. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, making it perfect for a relaxing stay after a long day of exploring the city. Another highlight was the in-house pub, which served delicious food and a good selection of beers. It was a great spot to unwind without even leaving the hotel. “We were lucky in securing free entry for this nightclub on a Friday night in November, where security checks are standard procedure nothing too intense and then it is a quick route to find our way upstairs. Atmosphere was solid from the lights changing their shades of colour to the smoke effects; areas on the dance floor can actually be found with more or less visibility and there was a good number of people across them too! There is an also an outside upstairs area where we could sit and relax, used this to have a chat a fair few times and could leave my coat there with the friendly staff while on the dance floor.”

“This is an amazing hotel. The favourite hotel of Jack Nicholson, if you wish. Rooms are all different and really cosy. Service is great, so is location. At least once in your life, but you should get this "very London" experience. Enjoy!”

“By far my favourite hotel in London. Charming, unique and welcoming. I’ve stayed there multiple times over the years, and it has never failed me. Feels like a home away from home, and I can tell that this comfort is felt by other guests by the way everyone feels so content chatting to one another and the staff themselves. Food, staff and rooms 10/10 and I can’t wait for my next stay!”

“We had a lunch for 26 people at the Barbican Malmaison brasserie. Excellent service from Ahmed and Violetta, who looked after us personally and very efficiently throughout and couldn’t do enough for us to make out occasion smooth and enjoyable. The food was excellent and everyone was pleased with the venue. Many thanks to all involved.”

“Some of the dishes are exceptional and very close to the original in Thailand (taking into account Ingredients might be different). The starter snacks are super. Larb Gai tort (minty chicken balls), pik Gai tort (deep fried split wings marinated in fish sauce) and DIY noodles were amazing!!! The Khao Soy (northern style curried noodles) was delicious!!!! The Krapow was okay (yet to find a good one in London) but still tasty. The service is excellent. Worth a visit!!!”

“Managed to turn up and seat a group of 9 last Saturday evening. Service was fab - thanks Petero for looking after us! Very quick out with drinks and food. Had to send back corn on the cob as not warm enough but they sorted it super quick. Otherwise great. Lovely cocktails, delicious food. Kids meal was great value and the churros were really tasty. Will definitely head there next time we’re at the O2.”

“Excellent place in a lovely corner. Great vibe. Loved the setup and design. Staff are very friendly and management is there to address any concern or questions you may have. The homemade scotch egg was a fantastic starter to try and food was amazing and reasonably priced considering the area. Choice of music was very good and to may taste and they had great choice of drinks. Well managed and run and would make you want to have this place as your usual go to place.”

“Spacious and excellent food. Most pubs we checked out in the area are small but this place is spacious and had good seating spots. We tried their fish appetizers, sausages, and flat iron steak with peppercorn sauce. All were to our liking. Definitely recommend especially if you are new to the area. Good for family and groups. Glad to find this gem.”
