“Excellent meal at Asian Spice this evening. Would definitely recommend. Service was prompt, polite and efficient. Food was piping hot, well spiced and seasoned, with Kingfisher lager on draught, all excellent. Very reasonably priced with complimentary chocolate and liqueur to finish. Only slight downside was that there weren’t many other customers in, probably because of the Easter holidays.”
“A great marker is the pub dog and the cross keys has the beautiful and calm blue and very friendly boy. We only popped in for a couple of drinks, however sitting in the cozy bar next to the kitchen, the smells and sights coming out soon had our tummies rumbling, so a pint of Level head, one of the cheapest I've had and a dry white was accompanied by a delicious battered fish and chips. Landlord while rushed off his feet had time to chat along with friendly locals. If nothing go for a level head and a chat and a pat with Blue”
“As a company we come here often for lunches and have always found everything fantastic. The staff friendly, the food really good and the service really prompt and attentive. We've been to a few different pubs in past years and I think it's telling that we've happily settled on the Three Tuns as our favourite spot!”
“I stayed here for 3 nights in total between moving homes! Lovely area, I didn’t want to leave! Beautiful design throughout, amazing food and wine. The customer service on the bar was great, especially as we had a three year old :)”
“What a place - it understandably attracts a lot of custom and has a real "buzz" about it!! ... stayed one night and had dinner & breakfast. The rooms are "dated" but clean and quite comfortable. The staff are amazing - don't know how Wetherspoons do it. I interacted with five different staff over our stay and they were all polite, helpful and confidently spoken. Extensive menu and food served within 10 minutes of ordering. The service and value for money can not be faulted - I wish Wetherspoons could run the NHS & country! A great location bang in the centre of the charming town of Henley-on-Thames.”
“Stopped off at the Flower Pot for a pint during a walk around the area. Beautiful old pub, nice outdoor area and friendly staff. Plan on coming back soon to try the food!”
“Utterly brilliant, just held the most amazing and memorable (not to mention different) party here. Lunch, hog roast and breakfast very good indeed. Service, pretty much unbeatable I’d say. We didn’t way to leave, the place was like a classy Mediterranean location.”
“Came for Christmas dinner at the shire horse. Was greeted with a warm welcome from Mel, who seated us. We had booked the pre-ordered Christmas dinner. The food was brought out in a timely manor, and Amelia who looked after our table always checked in with us. Each dish was impeccable, especially impressed with the steak dinner as it was cooked perfectly to my liking. The atmosphere is warm, calm, and bubbly,a beautiful balance. Thank you to Mel, Stanley, Amelia and all the staff at the shire horse for making this Christmas special x”
“We had a delicious Sunday lunch at the Berkshire Arms. The food was very good, and the portion sizes generous. Thick slices of turkey and lots of roast veggies. I just about had room for dessert, which was just as well because the Clementine tart was a great way to finish! Four of our party were stuck in traffic and delayed by an hour but the staff were very understanding and didn't rush us. Our server Anett was absolutely lovely.”
“Had a lovely Sunday roast. Service was excellent. Food was lovely and plenty of it. Nice country pub atmosphere. Also, the nice lady who served us, Amanda, pointed out we could use our Tesco Clubcard vouchers which saved us £60 for our table. Result!”
“Very cheap drinks, only £3.25 for a pint of Inch’s. Good music. Sky sports and TNT sports on the TVs. Darts and Pool available. Cracking pub.”
“Ordered takeaway from here on Saturday lunchtime. Delivery was really quick, less than half an hour. Staff were friendly, called me to confirm order. Food was really good, nice amount of veg mixed in, you don't always get that. Great to know a good local Chinese.”
“Lovely little local pub, couldn’t ask for better as a resident, particularly happy that they serve HSB as this was from my hometown and is a little difficult to find. Beer selection is decent, liquor selection is pretty good and the food is reliable and delicious. Happy to spend the evening here anytime. You can also take your dog and they have treats/water available.”
“Perfect location by the station. Lovely staff and the most welcoming locals. Stopped in for a well deserved coffee !!! (Loved it when the tray arrived and the cup was served hot)”
“The pulled lamb shoulder is brilliant. The rump steak is quite nice, too. I am impressed by the chips with a smoky flavor and the brownies - fluffy yet not too sweet. Friendly and helpful staff. Cheerful vibe for friends and family gatherings.”
“Been here few times before and it was good, but nothing special. However today it was absolutely amazing. Delicious food and very big portions. Best burrata mozzarella with tomato I ever had. Great service too.”
“Popped in for a quick pint and service was very good. There is a pool table this place also does food.”
“Devil's Pizza exceeded my expectations The crust was perfectly thin and crispy and the toppings were fresh and flavorful. The staff were friendly and provided excellent service. The unique, edgy ambiance added to the overall great experience. Highly recommend.”
“Guinness was top banana! The Filf were playing... great night, top beer, top music! Would definitely recommend”
“Great value, great people in-charge. A little noisy in the sports bar, but one would expect that, so, children have a special play area outside with tables & benches. Family orientated with a Quiete lounge for oldens.”
“I've been visiting this pub occasionally for over 15 years. It's always been a consistently good visit. A wonderful choice of beers and an excellent pint of Guinness. Great atmosphere with a distinctive Authentic English hue. Everyone who passes through the door brings happiness by entering, some through leaving.”
“Stopped at the pub for a drink after going for a walk. The staff were very friendly. Plenty of beer, wine and spirit choices. Wonderfully big garden with plenty of shaded area if needed If in the area again will try to pop in for food next time.”
“What a pub… Whenever we go in, the staff are friendly and accommodating. Since the refurb it’s so welcoming and inviting with a great selection of beers on tap (that always helps) The food is great fresh pub food, roasts are cracking and priced at just £15, can’t complain! Dessi and the whole Wheatsheaf Team are a credit to the local community. We’re so lucky to have such a great pub at the end of our roads!”
“Stopped off on a long journey for some lunch. The staff were lovely and the food was delicious. Really nice atmospheric pub. They even allow dogs with open arms which was fantastic and our collie was made to feel very welcome! Thankyou for a lovely meal and an enjoyable rest.”

“Festive Feast with Friends at Beefeater, Southcote. Christmas Eve called for a festive get-together with friends, and Beefeater provided the perfect setting. Snagging a table for six was a Christmas miracle in itself! We kicked things off with their starter deal – £17.99 for four dishes. The chicken wings were a tad over-fried, but the garlic bread and halloumi fries were spot on. Mains were a real treat. The chicken burger was juicy, the fish and chips were classic, and the salmon with asparagus was cooked to perfection. But the real star of the show? The mushy peas! Service was friendly and efficient, our server (didn't catch her name, sadly!) kept everything moving smoothly despite the festive rush. Overall, a great spot for a pre-Christmas catch-up with friends. Good food, good company, and good times. Happy days indeed!”
“Me, my wife and my two kids went last night for a nice meal as we are on holiday. We picked the pub at it had some of the best reviews near our hotel. All I can say is we were blown away. We asked for a table in a corner away from others as my daughter has learning difficulties and hates noise and sometimes cannot stay still, they didn’t even question it. They let us sit in the corner alone near a fire. Our starters were amazing and came out quickly. The sticky barbecue chicken was delicious. Then our mains were amazing. My wife and son had a steak and they were actually cooked right! Which is hard to find these days. Then we had puddings and they were also lovely. The manager (I didn’t get her name) was so attentive which is nice to see as normally at restaurants you don’t get much interaction with them. Everyone was so friendly and polite. We would 100% recommend and if we ever come back on holiday we will be eating here again.”
“Visited Reading for the first time. We just wanted a small lunch so wetherspoons suited us as they have a large selection of everything at a reasonable price. Sat fairly close to the window which enabled us to see the River Kennet. Would of sat outside if weather was warmer to get a better view of the river. But happy inside with comfortable seating.”
“Very Pleasant and helpful staff. Good atmosphere. Also they do poker tournament. Being a foreigner in the area I was very warm welcomed.”
“Yesterday we had our annual Christmas get-together, of some 50-60 people. I had arranged this with the bar some months ago as a new venue. From initial engagement through to the celebration the bar team, from manager and each and every staff member was brilliant. From reserving our area to collecting glasses all staff were polite, efficient, and helpful. (Some of our gathering are beyond retirement age and with mobility issues). During the evening the feedback has been excellent. Not one negative comment from anyone who attended. The general comment to me has been that the bar must be our venue going forward for a summer event and definitely next Christmas. I want to thank the whole bar team for making the event an excellent one. Their service made a positive impact and made the day a great one. I know that our attendees thanked staff members personally, but I hope this review reflects theirs and my response to a great day. Would I recommend this venue, YES. Thank you MacCafferty’s Bar at Reading Simon”
