“The plate salad here is very good I have it every visit to the Blue.”
“Pleasant café in the new development. Plenty of seating inside and out.”
“Great cafe right in the station! Quick service, good coffee, and fresh pastries. Perfect for grabbing a bite before catching a train. Friendly staff and convenient location”
“We had my daughter’s 4th birthday here last week, would highly recommend. Staff are so friendly and helpful, cafe is clean, well looked after and the kids love the toys! Cakes are so yummy!”
“I have many happy memories of the cattle market cafe from the days of horse sales, carriage sales and the fabulous household /antique sales which we attended regularly. The cafe was an endless supply of egg and bacon rolls, luscious and dripping, chips with tomato sauce and real belt busting breakfasts . Dinners were amazing , like great school dinners on steroids! Sadly I haven’t been in a while but am just glad to see that it is hanging on in there in these troubled times and surviving in the face of indescriminate ‘redevelopment’ of Readings past. Good luck, and long may it thrive”
“Great atmosphere; the staff are welcoming with friendly and smiley faces. The pasta service was fast and helpful. Tried the Spicy Pollo Pasta and was tasty; it was ‘al dente’ consistency and pasta sizes was decent. Tips are: -you can self order or also order via the counter with helpful staff if it your first time. -they have nice coffee, though also can help yourself to free tap water with glass by the cutlery area. -wide selection of hot and cold food/drinks. -no need to book as the service is fast. Overall I would recommend a try and visit; positive vibes, lively music (was there during a special promotion), modern and fun.”
“My son took me for breakfast here last Sunday an we were both pleased with how nice the breakfast was all cooked just right nothing under or over cooked and it was very clean and very well presented.Willl definitely be going back and will be trying something off of their menu for lunch.”
“Hello to everybody looking at the reviews The cafe isn’t the best but isn’t the worst the prices are fine the food is good but you can’t expect the best the cafe has really done a turn around now so if you have a bad service they are really nice people so they would help you”
“This is my go to comfort food spot cheap and amazing portion size they aren’t stingy with it love it thankyou guys!!”
“A really large, enjoyable pub right next to Reading Station. Seating inside and out. A wide range of drinks and meals are available. Service is average, and can be slow when it's busy. Toilets are large and well kept. The decor is excellent with plenty of nods to the station and trains. Well worth a visit, particularly if you are leaving the station and have time. The only downside is that it's quite pricey.”
“Nice, simple place, great coffee and divine homemade sausage rolls - delicious!”
“Very pleasantly surprised. We had cod & chips and scampi & chips. Better than our local chippy tbh. Wasnt expecting this from a supermarket cafe. Seating was pleasant and spacious. And what made it all the more awesome was the chirpy waitress, nice to see a smiling face and winning attitude. Wanted to mention her name here, but thought it might seem creepy to go back and ask!”
“Good well presented food. Staff behind counter very willing to help.”
“This is my first time at TGI Fridays and I have to say it was a very pleasant experience, the food was priced perfectly and the portions were a good size as well. The staff here were very kind and helpful with everything, they also were very speedy with getting our food out. Food quality was very tasty and looked very appealing. I would definitely come back here again.”
“We had such a great evening at TGIs! The food was absolutely delicious, but what really made the evening was the amazing service. Jasmine looked after us and she was brilliant - she took our rather annoying, picky order with a massive smile, and the food arrived perfectly. She cottoned on that it was our daughter’s birthday, and made a lovely fuss of her. I haven’t been to TGIs for a long time, but we’ll be back soon for sure!”
“Been here a couple of times for breakfast as working nearby. Best breakfast ive had for ages. Everything perfectly cooked and for a very reasonable price. I dont know why people are saying the owners are rude... i found them to be very nice. Will definitely be trying one of their burgers or tikka wraps for lunch.”
“What a lovely location next to the River Thames. Warm friendly atmosphere and good food at sensible prices. All 3 courses we had were well presented delicious and good sized. Would definitely visit again.”
“I can only assume this cafe has come under new management since the last several reviews, as I have been visiting regularly on my morning commutes for the last 2 or 3 years (both before and after various lockdowns) and have always had extremely positive experiences. None of the descriptions in other reviews match the lovely blonde-haired lady I am nearly always served by, who is consistently friendly and attentive and has even offered different coffee recommendations on the occasions when I've been undecided and asked. I find the pastries to be very high quality - the croissants especially are my favourite, always crisp and flavourful (and in my opinion much better than Pret's). The coffee has always been fresh and tasty and they offer a full range of milk alternatives. The range of packaged snacks and drinks is good. There is usually a small selection of fresh fruit available as well. All in all I find it the perfect place to grab breakfast before my morning train journey. They have a loyalty card and I have filled one twice already! Highly recommend. (also google has their opening times wrong - they claim the cafe opens at 9am, but I am often at the station around 7am and delighted to find it already open with machines up and running, so very early commuters should not be fooled, you can easily make use of their delicious services!)”
“Got a hot chocolate while waiting for a friend. I wasn't expecting much but it was the nicest hot chocolate I've had at a train station cafe before. Not fancy but it was perfect”
“The food was good but was left under the hot plate for a little too long. I could see the food just chilling there for about 15 minutes, but I understand on the night me and my sister went a staff member didn't come in so there was a bit of a back loge. Overall it was a good and nice experience.”
“Like a school cafeteria but for old people. Five stars for slushies and baked beans with anything you want.”
“Nice ambience. We reserved the place for a small birthday party for kids and adults. Got our own food and drinks. For the live band we hired The Twisted Notes, a two man band cum MC who were brilliant. Overall lovely place”
“Great place. Love the atmosphere and the bar staff are chill. Pizzas are huge. Lots of love The Big D”
“We love this place! I go in regularly for coffee in the mornings (which is amazing and really hits the spot). Last week we went for a quick lunch which was absolutely fantastic. Brilliant and authentic momos and excellent flavours in their wraps. Will be going back for sure.”
“What a gem in Reading…so nice to visit an authentic little cafe that isn’t part of a large chain. Was warmly welcomed with smiles. I had a delicious hot chocolate and bought some Italian pastries. This place has a nice selection of Italian treats and pasta, sauces and more. Will come again next time I’m in the area.”
