“Have been travelling around England staying in many Inn’s about the price point of Qudos. Qudos is head and shoulders the best, tastefully renovated to a high standard, I am very impressed. Even had dinner in the restaurant and it was really good. Would totally recommend.”

“We stayed here for the Christmas markets. What a jem of a find. Literally opposite the Cathedral. Fabulous room with lots of little extras that made it feel really special. A great restaurant/bar below which has great waiting staff & a delicious varied menu. I cannot recommend a stay highly enough.”

“Well laid out modern motel like feel. Rooms comfortable and easy to heat. Good selection of beverages including a coffee machine. Excellent addition of a mini fridge and fresh milk. Plenty of free parking and sort drive out of Winchester (15mins) or to walk in about 1hr 30mins. Local bus stop but not very regular times. Generally quiet though could be more noisy in warmer moths if people outside enjoying the pub. Nice inviting bar/restaurant with good variety of food and drinks. Only noticeable down side would be the random lighting the dipped/brightened regularly (owners have looked into it many times with no resolve) and dusting of the floor areas could be improved especially under beds. Overall the place had a good feel and would recommend this place and definitely consider staying again or in another place in the company chain.”

“Stumbled in here caked in mud on a freezing cold day from the South Downs path. We were made to feel so welcome. We had a lovely coffee and tea perched by the fire. We were so comfortable we didn’t want to leave! Definitely the highlight of the South Downs path so far!”

“Some of the best food I've eaten at a Restaurant. Give this place a Michelin star already! Incredibly tasty Scallops, Seafood curry and a 'Winchester Pudding' which was a lovely local touch and paired perfectly with the accompanying clotted cream. Yes, it's expensive but it's worth every penny. Special mention goes out to Ali Ali, our excellent waiter.”

“This pub has real character and is well worth getting to know! It is very much a local pub... But... The locals are really friendly people. It's right on the river but there is a quiet road between the pub and the river. In the summer you can sit out on the pavement and have a drink and still river watch. The prices are really reasonable and there is a good variety of quality drinks available. There is a pool table in the back bar and opportunities to watch sports but this doesn't dominated the character of the pub. Staff are lovely and the pork scratchings are fresh from the local butchers. Great pub!”

“We had lunch at The Dog and Crook today. We had been there before but wanted to try again as under new management. The place has had a facelift, and looks great. Lovely and clean, and a warm welcome. The food was delicious. Chicken Liver Parfait was a real hit. We chatted to the new manager, and fell in love with his beautiful dog Bella. We can recommend The Dog and Crook without hesitation. Eat here, you won’t be disappointed!”

“Gorgeous place - we’ve had dinner here every time we’ve visited the area now and never been disappointed. We’ve tried the ham egg and chips, steak burger (which was to die for!) and spicy pizza! All fresh and delicious. Wine superb and service was truly exceptional. Friendly staff, nothing too much trouble. And we finally got to try a dessert last night- sticky toffee pudding! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a cozy, inviting atmosphere. The rustic charm of the place, combined with its modern touches, made for a perfect setting. The menu offered a delightful array of dishes, each more tempting than the last. I opted for the roast lamb, which was cooked to perfection – tender, flavourful, and accompanied by the most delicious gravy. My partner chose the fish and chips, and it was hands down the best we’ve ever had. The portions were generous, and the presentation was top-notch. What truly set this place apart, though, was the exceptional service. The staff were attentive, friendly, and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. They even took the time to chat with us about the history of the pub, which added a lovely personal touch to our visit. To top it all off, the dessert menu was a dream. We shared a sticky toffee pudding that was simply divine – the perfect end to a fantastic meal. “Fantastic! My husband and I ate here Saturday night and went back today for a Sunday roast. We both had the skate Saturday which was the best I’ve ever had. Really large portions and cooked to perfection. The beef roast today was also fantastic. Huge portion again and really delicious. Staff were really friendly, taking time to chat with people and made to feel very welcomed. Would definitely recommend.”

“Had table for 10 last night for our mum's surprise 80th birthday. No pre order was required so everyone could choose on the night. Choice of normal or some Xmas options. The service was second to none. All drinks brought to table. Sean who looked after us was absolutely fantastic, a joy to have serving us. Made for a fun night and stepped in to take photos of the family. All the food was brought out in a good time, all hot, nothing was forgotten. Clearing service also seamless so a shout out to the young lady who was serving and clearing dishes. We all agreed it was a wonderful evening, lovely clean setting and I'd recommend to anyone. Thank you all at the white rabbit for making mum's 80th special.”
