“Popped in on Halloween night as we were running behind on dinner due to trick or treating with the kids and they left us no dinner. Saw their Facebook post on special Halloween offers so gave it a go. Lovely friendly staff, even the chef popped out in to restaurant area. Sausage and mash was lovely, nice touches and locally sourced sausages. Couldn't stay long and only moved to Swanmore 3 weeks ago so at least we know this place is a food one to go to in future. See you again soon!”
“A beautiful building located at the side of South Western Hotel & next to the old railway station that is now a casino. We visited for a wedding & the large room was indeed grand! Beautiful decor with chandeliers.”
“Lovely food and service, the Polish lady who greeted us was so lovely and welcoming, food amazing and very attentive service. A tad pricey but you really do get what you pay for re service. Highly recommended.”
“Fantastic pub, friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Highly recommend”
“Absolutely fantastic place to stay. Friendly staff, fine beer and phenomenal food. The burgers are excellent and the breakfasts fantastic. Poached eggs to perfection. Nice clean rooms, plenty of parking and a really interesting local area. A beach, a pond, a park an Co-op and a ruined abbey. What more do you need a stone’s throw from the best pub this side of the Isle of Wight? Thank you!”
“Excellent service. Clean, large modern looking pub on the inside and stunning country style looking on the outside. A drink selection with 3 ales I think there were. There was a British standard pub menu with kids option but also a very good Authentic Indian menu too. The best Indian I have had in years actually. I recommend the Goan Cod Curry. The rice is cooked perfectly too. Naan bread was also the best i have ever had too. Clean toilets. Family friendly. Very friendly service. Dog friendly too. Reasonably priced with good portion size too. Really worth the trip out there. I will be going back despite it being a 55 minute drive. It was quiet but then it was only 4pm so between rush periods - means you get an excellent service from the staff.”
“We stayed two nights at the Bugle. The room was spotlessly clean and well-appointed, with everything we needed for a short stay. Staff were beyond helpful and are truly lovely! The breakfast was plentiful and cooked to order so it was hot and fresh. The location is great, with several other options for dining and drinking too. Yes, there is some noise in the room from the bar but it stops promptly at 11pm and it's to be expected when you stay in a pub! No car park, but easy, free parking just across the road. Thanks Bugle team for a great stay!”
“I ordered a takeaway, so I can't comment on the dining-in experience, but I tried the lamb madras, and it was delightful. The spice level is mild, making it perfect for those who prefer less heat. Although I usually enjoy spicier dishes, I found it enjoyable nonetheless. The flavors are well blended, allowing you to taste the spice mix and onions that enhance your palate with every bite. It has a nice creaminess that pairs wonderfully with rice but is also perfect with garlic naan bread.”
“Great little pub. Nice interior a large undercover outdoor seating area. Food decent pub grub, tasty and reasonably priced. Service with a smile and nothing not to like !! We will be back !!”
“We visited yesterday evening primarily for a meal. We had a lovely evening. Top marks for the food, we had the lasagne, pork and mash and fish and chips and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals which showed as there was nothing left on our plates! The food was good value. The bar staff were really friendly and the service was prompt and efficient. The pub is cosy and has a country feel to it. We won prizes in the meat draw which topped off our evening. Definitely will go again and fully recommend without hesitation.”
“Absolutely love this place, been a regular forever and even come down to visit the wonderful staff for a pint of black moon when I now live over an hour away. Can't fault it, met some of the greatest friends and family here. It's such a special place, ups, downs, the star has always been there for a celebration, for a grieve, or just for a break. This place is so amazing I miss coming regularly, the star will always have a great place in my life, my greatest friends, my greatest memories too.”
“Had a table booked for a family celebration, table all set up nicely, service was good and the food was excellent. Staff were helpful and polite. Service all round was good. A nice size garden for children and dogs.”
“Brilliant classic pub, unexpectedly good food, and I mean quality good food, we had squid which can be difficult to get right without over cooking and going chewy but this was perfect, even the salid side dressings which id normally ignore was delicious. We also had about 4 different members of staff come and check everything was ok including the chef!! Really shows they care about the food, Exceptional service would strongly recommend”
“Great food, service and location in beautiful Hamble. Food was restaurant standard. Fishcakes and risotto were a triumph. Washed down with Ringwood Fortyniner. What's not to like!”
“Delicious hearty pub food boasting large portions to feed the eyes and packed with flavour. Recommended to family friends and now they go as much as we do! • Good location, has parking • Nice relaxing atmosphere”
“Dog friendly pub in Hamble. Friendly bar staff and a good selection of food. Lunch menu served until 4 pm. I think food service continues after this. Dogs allowed on ground floor. The main bar area is old stone, handy if your dog has a wee. Our two puppies didn't, I'm pleased to say. Left end of the bar is a carpeted area with tables and fire place if you like it a bit more cozy. There's an upstairs area and a covered outside area with lots of bench tables. Prices were very reasonable.”
“Wow ! Our first visit. We will definitely be coming back. Best roast dinner I’ve had in years. We had a very warm welcome. The outdoor seating area is perfect in this beautiful weather. A great selection of drinks. One of Southampton’s finest ! Highly recommended.”
“Family-run gem that beautifully brings the rich history of Persia to life with warm, welcoming atmosphere. The decor is thoughtfully designed reflecting Persian heritage. The food is the real star. The special mixed grill was outstanding—grilled to perfection. The portion sizes was good. The service was remarkable—attentive, friendly, and efficient.”
“My third visit here in 7 years. I ordered the soup was was told it would be a 35 minute wait. The member of staff saw my disappointment and offered me a complimentary drink because I didn't have enough time to complete my stay. I was very impressed with the service and mulled wine.”
“We hired the restaurant for a wedding reception this Saturday and it was perfect. The staff were incredibly accommodating, everyone was friendly and helpful. The food (cold buffet) was outstanding and our guests commented on how good the food was! It was plentiful as well as delicious. Manager Mark had been responsive and incredibly helpful throughout - nothing was too much trouble. Mark also booked DJ Martin who was great. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening, as did our guests! Thank you”
“Great food, the ribs are amazing make sure you go hungry! We had reserved a table and they were very busy on arrival but pleasant and friendly service. Welcomed our dog. We will definitely return”
“Great pub, nice food and friendly welcome!! Popped in here on a Saturday lunchtime for a quick bite. It’s recently changed management and gone is the huge portions and massive menu. Nothing wrong with the old place, we’ve never had a bad meal there but the portion size was bordering on the gluttonous!! Now a slimmed down menu with a salt specials board, reasonable prices and tasty concoctions. Mixed bean chilli and a seafood madras was ordered with a pint of local Flacks double drop ale. The food arrived in short time and was decent portion size and very tasty. Both dishes came with addons as can be seen in the photos and overall a very tasty reasonably process meal. It was a bit quiet in the place although lots of tables were getting reserved signs put out for later which was a good sign. They also do a bikers night on Thursday evening’s which I believe is becoming quite popular. Overall it’s a great local pub and definitely on our list of approved hostelries!!”
“Thank you to Alison and the team for my beautiful wedding after party, the food was amazing and the pricing is really good. You made it a magical day for me and my family and friends.”
“Amazing place for drinks but amazingly for food! Gluten free options and they spoil their customers! I promise! So chill and relaxed atmosphere! Lovely staff!”
“Beautiful traditional public house, beams and open fire included :)”
“Allegedly the haunt of smugglers, this remote pub, at the end of a country lane, looks out towards Southampton Water. The old photos show it has been extended out the front, probably due to it's popularity. The disused water mill and tidal mill pond are still in the background. Some nice beers and a good pub menu. Friendly staff”
“Amazing atmosphere, attentive staff, the place to be,and great selection of beers what more could you need will definitely be coming back”
“Delicious pizza, yummy nachos, amazing local beers. And dog friendly to boot. Skip the dough balls - a little bland for my taste. Kids allowed until 9:00 pm.”
“Went here for a few drink and see some live music. The musician was great and the atmosphere was great. Staff behind the bar were friendly and really enjoyed the evening.”
“Recently changed hands and the place is much better. The menu is fab if you love pies and Yorkshire puddings, if not then there are a few other choices and some specials too. The pies are delicious. The yorkies are delicious too - all stuffed with yummy, hearty and comfy fillings. Two choices of pies - some from a local farm - some made on-site. We had the ones from the local farm and they were delicious. The interior is a little random and quirky - perhaps they will change this over time.”
