“Elegant colonial style hotel with modern comforts whilst retaining period features, set in the South Downs National Park in the picturesque idyllic historic village of Alfriston. Highly recommend booking early and going for a room with a veranda access which had perfect views over the gardens at the National park. Set close to the sea, vineyard and the quaint village shops and restaurants which are all wonderful. We ate in the private dining room on the first night with a group where the food was spectacular. My lamb was a standout dish that I'll remember along with the white chocolate mousse. The rooms were immaculate and had a coffee maker and tea area. We could have done with a few more hangers and hooks in the bathroom to hang towels. Staff were friendly and accommodating. If you plan to go out till late, take a front door key as they lock the doors at 10pm. Breakfast was delicious and flexible as they can add/remove items upon request without fuss. Continental selection was limited but gluten free and vegan options are available on request. There is a guests only first come first serve car park to the rear, which had enough space for us and we didn't struggle to park. Beautiful place that was a wonderful place to relax, enjoy and stay. Highly recommend.”

“I couldn't recommend the Southern Belle more highly. The hotel is beautifully decorated, short walk from the lanes with absolutely lovely food. The best thing is the staff and atmosphere though - this made our stay really special and gives the bar downstairs a real local vibe. Will definitely be back!”

“My wife and I booked to see Venom: The Last Dance on a whim as this was the only cinema with advanced bookings and we're so glad we did! Sleekly designed, clean, modern and spacious it really made going to the cinema feel like a luxury. The sofas were so much more comfortable than traditional seating and having legroom as two six foot people was superb. The staff were engaging, polite, welcoming and helpful. They even went out of their way to offer a substitution on my wife's ice cream sundae when they'd run out of matchmakers. The food and drink was reasonably priced considering the level of service as well as being delicious. The decaf cappuccino I had was of good quality and that's rare to come by. Overall, we're completely sold on this cinema being the best visit to watch a movie of our adult lives, we will be back, and you should check it out too.”

“Lovely authentic feel to the building. The seats in screen 4 are so comfy and would be cheap at twice the price! I had the most amazing time! One teeny tiny negative was the surround sound was overwhelmingly LOUD.”

There is a wonderfully eclectic mix of DJ nights on throughout the month in the bar, fresh live music upstairs, decor like no other (see photos), award winning vegan kitchen and friendly staff. As a solo walk in diner, I was made to feel so welcome, by everyone: mostly from Christian who goes out of his way to help you with the many great food choices while being honest. His charisma was great, made me laugh. It's testament to the ethos of this place is top notch!”

“Was here last weekend and popped in for a snack . Great staff here who were attentive but not in your face. It's a great winter pub a proper country gem but also amazing in Spring and Summer with it's awesome garden and views over the Sussex countryside. Good was great and just a great place to go. Thanks for a lovely time. The group who run this pub also run The Bohemian in Eastbourne and in the Towner light again both atmospheric places with Good food and wonderful service.”

“My mother and I visited this place on the 09.10.25 during lunch time hours. We were greeted with a beautiful smile form a young lady that was very happy passionate and welcoming. She designated a very nice table with a good view by the window overlooking the best view. All other staff were very kind and attentive including the restaurant owner . The atmosphere was nice with great menu selection and very good music playing in the background. The young lady was efficient and always took care of my mother's needs and even spoke in my mother's mother tongue spanish. The food was great, always well presented and very delicious. We had alot of fish dishes and they were tasty and well cooked . Overall it was a very pleasant experience lovely restaurant very clean on a beautiful sunny day. Upon existing the restaurant we were very impressed with the kindness and professionalism of everyone working that day.Also the lady owner was actually near the entrance she very nicely spoke to us briefly with a smile and said our goodbyes. “Been out walking and just called in on the off chance as hadn’t booked. Was really busy but they fitted us in without a fuss - thanks. Had the Sunday roast (beef of course) and was not disappointed - it was fabulous! Bella took our order and a young lass with blonde hair served us (Jenni? I think, sorry didn’t get her name). We could see it was busy and the staff were busy but they kept an eye out for everyone. Really pleased we called in & will call in again next time we are in the area. Thank you.”

“A lovely quaint pub next to the river. A pleasant atmosphere, really friendly and welcoming team of staff, and the Sunday Roast - I had the minted lamb - was delicious. A generous portion, with plenty of veg and just the right amount of gravy. I say at a small table outside, and the sun shone down on us. I enjoyed my visit here and trust you shall too. 5 stars for the food and the service. A high 4 for the atmosphere. Overall, easily 5 stars.”

“One of the reasons that I love Lewes is this pub. A hidden gem. A CAMRA Good Beer Guide regular and Cask Marque pub. A few years ago we hiked over fron Eastbourne and my sore feet were soothed by a few pints here. ( oddly, there was a Morris Dancer festival going on, hard on feet and hard on ears!) Casta and Madge were enticed by the pizza menu (10£ - 15£). I however had a Gales brewery ( Fullers) 3.6% Seafarer. A super locals pub. No TV's.”

“A Hidden Gem in Brighton – A Must Visit! We stumbled across Busby and Wilds by chance while looking for somewhere dog-friendly with good food — and it absolutely did not disappoint! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the owner, Emily, which instantly made us feel at home. The food was absolutely delicious and clearly made fresh with care. Every bite was spot on. It’s rare to find a place that nails the balance of great atmosphere, amazing food, and genuine hospitality. This is now my go-to spot whenever I’m in Brighton. “Perfect airport cafe/restaurant with REAL art deco look and feel and panoramic views of the airfield, plus outside terrace to take the sun. We were there for cafe visit and were served by friendly, helpful staff. Good coffees. Tea in teapot and Danish Pastries to die for - ming that waistline!”
