“I went here with my partner for his birthday and honestly, it was one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was just spot on, stylish without being pretentious, buzzing but still intimate enough for a date night. Our host sam was great, you can tell he genuinely knows his stuff, especially when it comes to the steaks. We went for his recommendations: the padron peppers, short rib croquettes, the tomahawk steak, and for dessert, the cheesecake and chocolate delice. Every single dish was unreal. The steak especially was next level, cooked perfectly and packed with flavour. The service felt personal and relaxed, and the staff clearly take pride in what they do. They also catered to my partners food allergy and were attentive throughout. For the quality of food, the atmosphere, and the level of care, the price was completely reasonable. You can tell it’s somewhere that values both experience and craft. Thanks pasture!! X”

“Wow! So good! Came here for a birthday dinner and had the best time. I’d highly recommend. The food was impeccable, my partner is a vegetarian and had the most amazing dining experience, we usually spend our time in restaurants talking and talking but we were totally silent for about half an hour as we ate. Everything was incredibly delicious, my fillet steak was to die for! However, our favourite part was the incredible service. From the minute we stepped in the hostess was welcoming and friendly, she was so lovely and set a high standard of high quality. Our waitress Meg was incredible. She was very kind and friendly, she really made the night for us. A big thanks to all the staff working tonight, especially the woman who recommended our wine, as they truly made the experience wonderful. We will definitely be back! The staff really do work hard and it shows, everyone was so so lovely. If you’re in the Clifton area PLEASE go to this restaurant you won’t regret it. 10/10”

The cheese board also has a great selection of cheeses, and they give you a mountain of crackers. The staff were also lovely and attentive. The Stag Inn

“There are lots of good walks near Hinton Charterhouse. I would recommend that, like us, you make the Stag your pit-stop of choice. The welcome is always warm and the food is really excellent. My friend had a Cajun Chicken and prawn special, which he said was delicious. Because I know how good it is, I went for ‘Old faithful’ - ham, 2 eggs and chips. It was to-die-for, as always. Home cooked ham packed with flavour, tender as you like, thick carved and plentiful; oh, and runny eggs! It’s a sensational lunch. It won’t be long before we find ourselves back here, I’m sure. UPDATE - We just visited for a Sunday roast. I can honestly say it’s probably the best pub roast I’ve ever had. You certainly won’t leave hungry. Highly recommended!”

“I visited The Lock Up on Sunday for a roast, and it was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had! This was my third time at the restaurant, and it was by far the best experience yet. I came this time as a Coeliac and was absolutely over the moon with the gluten-free options available—both for mains and desserts. I was especially thrilled to have a Yorkshire pudding and cauliflower cheese, which are such rare treats for Coeliacs. I had the beef, which was cooked perfectly—tender and not at all chewy. The staff were lovely and very accommodating. I really appreciated the care they took. Highly recommend—especially if you're looking for a great gluten-free Sunday roast!”

“We have been here a few times now and our favourite thing is the aubergines and the marinated anchovies. We had a botifarra sausage dish with beans but the beans were not cooked enough. The aubergines with molasses were iconic as always. The tortilla de patatas got mixed reviews (no onions or seasoned enough). The girls loved the two desserts although one of them noticed that the basque cheesecake was a New York cheesecake not a basque one - indeed. The girls also love their drinks. The atmosphere is banging and because it’s a small place it gets very cosy.”
