“My nephew and I used this hotel as our base during a trip to Bristol. The location is the best. We had a 2 room suite and it was fantastic. The most comfortable bed and pillows ever. We also had access to the executive lounge, this is a fantastic added extra. Great space with snacks and drinks (including beer and wine at night). The exec lounge also included a full breakfast. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend.”

“Great place, location, breakfast, rooms, beds, good value for money, very happy with the stay, but for the love of God please be consistent on what you are telling HH members on KIPSU, Elena told me she couldnt help when I was having issues with my CC and I had to call Hilton support center (but the whole point of why we introduced KIPSU was NOT to make any calls), but the next day without any issue Peter, bless his heart, told me not to worry about my reservation as it would not be cxl or marked as no-show. Not a complaint, just a very small area for improvement and I would still recommend this hotel. Cheers.”

“Excellent hotel for early morning flights. Continental breakfast from 4am before hot breakfast from 6am. Although check in was busy staff were quick and efficient. Room was very clean and bed was comfortable. Evening meal menu was not extensive but food was good value for money as were the drinks from the bar. Would recommend”

“Rooms are very comfortable and have everything you need for a stay (including Ironing board, Iron and hair dryer). Food was excellent and served in a timely manner! Although it's on a main road, the car park is easy to access, and very large, and the road noise does not affect the rooms, restaurant, or bar area! All the staff we met, from the receptionist, to the bar staff and servers, and the cleaning staff we met in the morning, were very friendly, helpful and added to a very enjoyable stay!”

“First time of staying here, was absolutely spot on, from checking in to checking out. Already booked again, was so impressed! There is a lift to the floors but also a few stairs too, although I was told and offered help. My room was just perfect. Very clean and comfy, bed was a delight. Lovely toiletries. Plenty of tea/coffee/milk etc. There was a fridge, what a bonus. I didn’t struggle with parking, yes £15 per 24hrs but it is what it is, I’ve paid lots more in Bath and it was a fair distance to walk to my accommodation. I personally didn’t sample any food. A great place to stay - highly recommend. Thank you to all concerned for making my stay so memorable”

“Stayed here a couple of times now. Fantastic service from the moment you arrive. Lovely rooms, great pub downstairs with entertainment, good food/drink selection and loads of board games you can take up to your room. Only a 15 min walk into the centre or a 5min taxi ride. Staff were fantastic. Will 100% stay again if we are back in the area.”

“I am fortunate to have relatives living at The General, so have visited several times. Beautifully renovated and repurposed building, located alongside Bathurst Basin and the Floating Harbour. A brief, 5 minute, walk and you're in the heart of the city. Lovely pubs and restaurants close by, and M Shed and Wapping Wharf only a couple of minutes away. Lovely, quiet spot in the heart of Bristol.”

“We stayed for a long weekend in a family room. Clean but a bit dated. Beds were comfy but the double was 4'6! Good breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Free parking and some off road. Bus stop just outside with easy access to Bath. Can walk along the river too but it's quite industrialised so not pretty!”

What really stood out was the exceptional service from the staff. A booking error meant a double room had been reserved instead of a twin, but the team went above and beyond to fix it – bending over backwards to sort out a twin room on the spot and save the booking. “I stayed here for work recently, two weekends running. It's the ideal spot. Exactly what you need it to be but above everything else, the staff are unbelievably friendly. They couldn't be more helpful actually and on my return the second week, they remembered me. Particular mention goes to Poppy who is just lovely. She is so good at her job and has a lovely, warm nature. Rachael was a diamond. She was so accommodating when our large party arrived for dinner - all absolutely exhausted from a huge work day - we hadn't made a reservation but she made it work and we were all beyond grateful. Finally to Ben, also in the restaurant. He was just lovely and really warm, friendly and patient. 10/10 for customer service. You made a long work spell away from my family that little bit easier. Thank you.”

“Lovely hotel and enjoyed our stay. The rooms are lovely, plenty of space. Thought gone into it like plug sockets in important places, bedside and next to vanity mirror. Often overlooked. Good quality toiletries much appreciated. Only comment is that reception staff were cool and not very welcoming although efficient. Would stay again and use novotel again.”

“Really lovely staff. Two guys who were working this morning were kind and helpful. And the guy who worked last night was friendly and helpful too. Good facilities. Great rooms that are rather modern and rustic. Quite loud at times due to night life and having a bar and activity area below. The rooms have good facilities and are very modern, however my room smelt like leather cleaner… wasn’t a huge fan of that but I’m sure others might like it. My toilet was also was slightly dirty when I arrived but I understand you can’t expect them to be spotless everywhere.”

“Brilliant Service for our two day conference with almost 40 delegates attending from across the country. The Drawing Room was the perfect space for presentations and working groups, with space on one side for a grazing station and tables for a working lunch. The room was set up exactly as requested and lovely and toasty during a cold November. The team were very adaptable to our ever changing plans and it was very easy to arrange meetings in person as well as liaise over email. The accommodation was gorgeous and everyone was very happy with their rooms. We also hosted a private dinner in the Garden Room, which again was set up exactly as requested with space to network. It ran to our timetable taking into account welcome drinks, speeches and a three course meal. Again it was lovely and toasty for a cold and wet November. And lunch in the brassiere on the final day was delicious. Complements to the entire team. Would highly recommend!”
