“Lovely, clean and calming. I had made a rather lengthy walking journey with my baby in his pram to the new bakery up the road to find it was closed, despite saying it was open online. Tired, achey and in need of a cold refreshment, I came across this cafe ‘coffee angel’. Sounded perfect!! The lady who served me was lovely and calming. The location is perfect and quiet as it’s off the beaten track. Seats are a-plenty and my coffee was presented beautifully! Thank you!”

“fantastic large open park with closed area for children to play on swings etc. access to the woods behind the park leads into a wonderful "almost" unspoiled wooded area. great to explore with a dog or kids. old quarry area with extremelly high cliff edge. need to be extra careful at this point as not closed off properly, but there are minimal warning signs. My dog and I love coming here was it is still a bit wild although it is a small area”

“The char on the porterhouse was great! This is steak done right on the pan, better than sous vide. The sauces were also memorable. Our favourites were the blue cheese and the bone marrow sauce. The chimichurri helped cut away the monotony of beef, fries and the savoury sauces. It provided the tangy, spicy flavours necessary to finish the 800g steak. The best deal was that on Tuesdays, the porterhouse was going for £50 with 2 fries and 3 sauces, instead of the usual £80. The happy hour earl grey martini was also refreshing and a great pairing to cleanse the palette after the meal!”

The team at Oman’s goes above and beyond to make sure we’re always well looked after, no matter how big or small our group is. The service is impeccable—friendly, attentive, and incredibly welcoming. They make you feel like part of the family, and that’s something you don’t experience everywhere. The atmosphere is lively yet relaxed, making it the perfect spot to unwind after a game or celebrate a big win. It’s clear that the team at Oman’s takes pride in what they do. They’ve created a place where we always feel appreciated and valued, and that keeps us coming back time and again. “I thought this was the best of all the hostels in the old town. Walk outside and you are in the grassmarket square, directly underneath the imposing Edinburgh Castle. The shower and bathroom were good, with plenty of individual bathrooms. The bed was a type of pod with enough room to sleep, hang up my shirts and sweatshirt, blanket, pillow, and convenient shelf for my belongings and to write my postcards. USB and charging port. There is a regular light and also a cool color changing light for fun! There is a sliding gate or curtain that gives you privacy, however I woke up in a pool of sweat on a cool day, so I felt I needed to keep it open a smidge so I don't suffocate. There is a vent, but a small fan would have been "cool." Felt very safe, locker for belongings. The staff, AMAZING! while they joked that they were not well taken care of by management, they took great pride in their work, and made every effort to accommodate any and all requests as I saw it. Extremely helpful and friendly when I asked directions or had questions. Available at all hours. Thank you guys for a memorable time in Edinburgh!”

“We stayed at 'The Loft' - genuinely luxurious, quirky and modern, extremely clean with fantastic communication. STAY HERE you won't be disappointed. Everyone was really bowled over with the place, they loved the decor, the quirky touches and character in the property. We are very used to high floors from previous stays in the capital. This didn't feel as high! It was absolutely perfect for our group which was mixed with couples and singles. The location was fantastic, on the corner of Hanover street with lots of bars, cafe's and restaurants all within minimal walking distance. Everything we could possibly need was catered for. The ensuites were also a massive plus with large groups and practically looked brand new. The apartment genuinely felt luxurious with no expense spared. Deliveroo was no effort at all with quick deliveries. Lovely big dining table we could all sit around for breakfast, big fridge, and the ground floor bathroom was huge. The living diner was perfect for gathering after a day exploring.”

“We stayed for 2 nights and had a lovely time. You can take a nature path walk to dowtown (took us about 25 min). We also walked to a pub by the sea in about 15. The room was clean and quiet, and the breakfast was full of plenty to snack on. The view of the skyline was beautiful. So cool to stay in a home like this.”

“I had 4 days in Edinburgh in late September 2025, and this was my favorite breakfast place. My sandwich -- eggs benedict on top of a double-decker avocado toast with black pudding, hash browns and bacon -- was delicious and filling. Coffee was good, and service was friendly.”

“Such a gem! We happened to enjoy live music there on a Tuesday night and had so much fun! I don’t know if they do any announcements or how often that takes place, though. The burger was okay, the battered fish with chips and peas was amazing, the portion was huge — and all that for a reasonable price!”

“Needed to get away from the busy Saturday night bars, to have some drinks. Found this cozy bar, almost hidden, with friendly staff cool deco, soulful tunes and proper Barbados quality rum and spirits. Very comfortable bar. Will definitely revisit.”

“Went to the breakfast with santa morning and it was amazing! My wee boy really enjoyed it! The staff were fantastic the breakfast rolls were really good! My son really enjoyed the pancakes and bananas, it was well organised, everything was just spot on! was definitely worth every penny!”

“The Beach House is such a lovely spot right on Portobello Beach. Perfect for a relaxed brunch or coffee with a view — the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the big windows looking out over the sea make it extra special (outdoor seating also available). The menu has something for everyone, from fresh baked goods and excellent coffee to hearty breakfast and lunch options. Everything we tried was fresh and flavorful, and the service was friendly without being rushed. A perfect seaside café — well worth a visit whether you’re a local or just passing through. Dog friendly as well which is always a plus.”
