“We booked this in advanced as no bookings on gate, so happy we did, it was fantastic! We had 2 adults and 1, 11 year old with us, and couldn't recommend enough!! We turned up at 09:45 and stayed until 1400, the Q lake was super clean and facilities - shower, toilets and changing rooms all well kept too. We stopped off at the cafe on our way back to the car and had pizza and chips - delicious!!! Food was fresh and tasted yummy! Next time we visit we will most likely camp over as well to make a weekend of it. We will be back!!! Thanks for a great experience Pool Bridge Farm.”

“Me and my partner had the most gorgeous stay! Jo was helpful with regards to booking directly through them and made the whole process smooth. Lydia checked in with us on the day as well. The apartment was spotless and had lots of amenities which made our stay very comfortable. We stayed in the Livingstone street apartment and it was perfect for getting into central whilst having peace in the evenings.”

“Beautiful hotel, very close to train station and a short walk from the main shopping area of York. We had a lovely visit, and most of the staff were very courteous, welcoming and friendly. The room was well presented and we had a very comfortable bed. It is a higher priced hotel and you could see the attention to detail and little touches that made it special. We were slightly disappointed that we didn't receive the same warm level of greeting as other guests. It was a stay we'd saved for and had looked forward to very much. It was obvious they had regulars, which is fantastic and means the hotel gets it right as a general rule. But it would have been nice if we'd had a little conversation with the check-in member. The couple being checked in next to us were being asked very general questions like where they'd travelled from, creating a little conversation, but we didn't get the same; just a hello and asked about what card we wanted to put on file for incidentals and then silence. I did attempt to make a little polite conversation with the receptionist but it was clear that they were not interested. It made us feel a little awkward. Asking simple customer service questions makes guests feel welcome and at ease, which we didn't experience at that point. On checking out it was better; we were asked if we'd enjoyed our visit to York, where we were going back to, etc. It made us feel more welcome, even though we were checking out. All in all though, our check in experience hasn't put us off booking in again at some point. Chances are it was an exception to their usual level of service.”

“This is a tiny cafe above a bookshop. Both are queer spaces, full of flags, acceptance and super friendly staff. I can highly recommend the bi passionfruit cake. The cafe is a meeting place for young people who identify as LGBTQ+, so if you have an issue with them you're not at all welcome here. This cafe is absolutely perfect for students but, to reiterate, it is very small!”

“A real hidden gem, clean and has had a big upgrade lots of new bits for all ages. Never overly busy and even with lots of parties (which are also fab we've had one here.) there's so much to go and lots of trampolines”

Moxy York immediately stood out with its fun, urban, and modern vibe. The downstairs area is full of character, decorated with eye-catching urban art, hanging pod chairs, plenty of selfie spots, and even a photobooth complete with dress-up hats and caps. The luggage carts by the entrance were incredibly helpful when we arrived with multiple suitcases. The overall first impression was stylish, energetic, and welcoming. Cleanliness & Safety Concerns
The hotel was clean throughout — from the reception area to the lifts and guest rooms. The lifts are secure and won’t operate until you scan your room key, which we appreciated as an added safety feature. CCTV inside the lifts added an extra layer of reassurance. The bathrooms, both in the public areas and our room, were spotless, and the baby-changing facilities downstairs were spacious with a wide sliding door that easily accommodates a pram. Food Quality
Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of hot and cold options, good coffee, cereals, pastries, fresh fruit, and a variety of juices. Gluten-free options were clearly available, and we loved the sign that mentioned vegetarian sausages cooked to order—just ask a staff member. Everything was well stocked and fresh. The bar also served well-priced soft drinks, and we appreciated the free pints of cold ice water when requested. Ambience & Surroundings
The ambience at Moxy York is playful and modern, with thoughtful design details such as bright pink filler used deliberately to highlight cracks in the concrete floor—turning something ordinary into part of the décor. There’s a beer garden, a pool table, books, board games, magazines like Empire, and even a free retro Street Fighter arcade machine. Everywhere you look, there’s something creative or fun. The hotel feels lively yet relaxing, perfect for groups, couples, families, and students alike. Service & Atmosphere
Every member of staff we interacted with was polite, friendly, and eager to help. The front-desk team created such a welcoming environment. We loved the gesture of a free cocktail or mocktail each on arrival. They even had special offers like a 20% student discount and a free mimosa for graduates on the day we visited. Dog owners will appreciate the custom stand at reception with water bowls for both large and small dogs. Small touches like free cucumber water at the bar and umbrellas available to rent added to the sense that Moxy pays attention to guest comfort. Facilities
The hotel offers lots of thoughtful amenities: A well-equipped workout room directly opposite the lifts Fast, clean lifts with fun selfie-style Instagram templates inside Monthly event notices and clear signposting throughout the hotel A first-floor ironing room accessible with your room key Modern, comfortable guest rooms with sensor lights under the bed (perfect for late-night bathroom trips), air conditioning, USB ports, a European plug socket, a wing-backed chair, a kettle with tea/coffee and Biscoff biscuits, and secure locking feature. Bathroom amenities including shampoo, conditioner, hand wash, and body wash The room was quiet with no banging or noise from other floors, leading to a very peaceful night’s sleep — something not all hotels manage successfully. Although there is no on-site car park, there is a Q-Park nearby and several other parking options within walking distance via parking apps. Signing up for Marriott Bonvoy is worthwhile too, as it makes Wi-Fi sign-in quicker and lets you collect points. Overall

“Attended the Ringtons Tea retirees’ Christmas bash at the Novotel in York and it was exceptional from beginning to end. The hotel itself is in a cracking location just a short walk from the river and the city centre, and it has that modern, clean, relaxed feel that makes you settle in straight away. The event was handled brilliantly. The staff were outstanding – friendly, organised, and genuinely attentive without ever feeling intrusive. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and they kept everything running smoothly all evening, which really helped set the tone. The food was superb. Every course was well presented, piping hot and full of flavour. Christmas meals at large gatherings can be hit-and-miss, but this was one of the best I’ve had at a group event. Plates were cleared promptly, drinks topped up efficiently, and the timing between courses was spot on. The atmosphere was fantastic too – warm, festive and full of energy. The room was set up beautifully, plenty of space, great lighting, and everything felt well thought through. It made the whole celebration feel special, and it was lovely to see so many familiar faces from Ringtons enjoying themselves. Overall, Novotel York delivered an excellent evening: great service, brilliant food, a lovely festive setting, and staff who genuinely helped make the night memorable. Couldn’t have asked for more. “Great location, close to the train station, and in a central location. Beautiful view no matter which side you're on (we were facing the southwest. The room was very clean and spacious. Our only complaint is that there was no shower hose, which makes it difficult to thoroughly rinse. The shower had one of those gentle "rain" heads that can't be adjusted at all. The complimentary breakfast buffet was decent, as was the service at the front desk. If we visit York again, we would choose this hotel again. It was here that we learned that the British "How are you?" is actually "Are you alright?" and we thought the front desk employee was concerned with something about us (I checked to see if we had forgotten to get dressed...) :)”

“Ithink this is my 9th better gym in terms of space and equipment definitely top 3, nice clean modern facility with technogym equipment, dumbbells up to 40kg good mixture of fixed machines and plate loaded machines, good amount of cable machines, as well as good amount of cardio equipment. With and leisure centre health club it’s not just the Gym, here there’s a clip and climb, 5g pitches and a 25 metre pool really nice facility. Good job”

“This pool looks wonderful now. A bit different from the open air pool I knew when I was at school there 1954 - 1961. No filtration and water only changed when it was like pea soup! Happy days though.”

What a place, honestly I’ve looked forward to coming every single day, class gym despite it being upstairs and relatively small, modern and up to date, friendly yet professional staff and the pool facilities are brilliant. At this price point Roko is a pure hidden gem in York.”

“Skye won an hour's play at Elementary Dog Park which was kindly donated to help support our local RSPCA summer fair! Skye is a reactive dog and a fence jumper so privacy and security are the most important things to us in a dog park. We felt very secure within the premises, with parking spaces for multiple cars within the park and proper 6ft fencing with no nearby mounds to discredit the height! Skye loved zooming across the field and using the equipment. Then spent half her time recovering in the shade. Thanks for donating the session, we'll be back again, no doubt!!”

“Whats not to like , great value for money, considering its the same price as the Premier inn, yet we got loverly views, car parking, a spa and 10 min bus ride into york. Bus stop right by the hotel. Staff were all great, room was fantastic, grounds were loverly. We onlt had the breakfast but everything fresh and tasty.”

“Incredibly well designed and maintained gardens that are attractive all year round. The annual themed garden (this year Wallace and Grommet) is always a treat, and the playground is very well equipped for all ages of children. The Meadow section, with its more natural design, has come a long way, and is great for a stroll or a picnic. Probably our favourite gardens in York. Would benefit from a permanent cafe, but the Explore Library mobile Cafe and tent are good, and the Youth Hostel cafe (good coffee and cakes) is only a short walk around the corner.”
